I had a cat who I got through a friend from their friend. I think he had formerly been in an abusive home, because he'd run and hide from even the smallest hand wave. It took me a month of sitting in front of his hiding spot and pulling him out to love on him for him to get used to me. Close to the end of that month, I noticed he'd watch me talk to him, mostly saying "I love you". After a while of watching, I think he learned how to form it because he was mouthing the facial pattern of those words. Any time after, if we were "talking" he'd occasionally mouth it, no soud, just facial movement. It was the cutest thing ever ❤

The kittens sound was the best one for me our cat had two litters of kittens. The first litter had 5 kittens the second had 4 kittens for some reason our cat trusted us so much she let us hold them whenever we wanted (with the exception of when they were nursing) but she new we would give them back when she wanted them (I think she let us because she needed a break from those kittens) but those kittens were the cutest little things we have wooden floors and while all of the kittens from the 1st litters were walking, 1 was sliding backwards all over the wood floor it was funny and I would like tl gear some more stories about your kittens (if you have any.)
My new cat(whom was abandoned and moved in to my house after I've been feeding her for a couple of months) is trilling literally all the time. My previous cats almost never did it and I thought it sounded like she's not happy. Thanks to you now I know what it means.

Demo Actually, that's what language IS--understanding a pattern of sounds and an association to those sounds to a meaning. Or do you think that dogs "understand English"? It's the same thing for dogs as for cats. Or any other set of sounds. You learned that a set of sounds in a certain order meant a certain thing also. All creatures communicate in different ways, us included. Case in point--a lot of people think "cats are dumb compared to dogs". Hardly--they simply communicate differently. I'm an older cat guy, and have always had a great relationship with cats--because I've watched how they communicate with each other and tried to do the same when communicating with them. It's amazing once you start paying attention to an animal, how much you can learn about them. Humans are supposed to be the "smart species"--but it's amazing how little we really know about other living things on our world.

When I clicked on this video I vas interested but afraid at the same time. True my family and I took in an injured feral cat. He rarely meowed but when he did it sounded so funny because he never had to communicate with humans before 😂😂
I've heard that the sound is just residual from infancy, used to call it's mother. However, cats use it with humans because thats the sound they learn to make to catch human attention and get something they want.
This one cat that I had was a white cat with gray tabby spots named Gary and he would not meow, but, rather, he would do this weird purr-mew combination, even when he was a grown cat. Sadly, mean dogs murdered him when he was 4 and when I was out of town (thanks, dad, for letting out the cat when I was gone...X( ) helping my mother with her groceries. He was a nice cat, too. His brother, which is still alive, is a nice cat most of the time and he is currently on one of my arms as I am typing things out and he is now almost 14. The cat that I have meows normally.

maybe it's more like "shoo" to scare flying things to take off. If they sit they can fly any direction. Once they take off they can't change that direction easily. So maybe it's easier to catch it if the cat jumps ahead of that direction. Rather then jumping at where the bird was sitting since it won't be there when cat arrives.
Okay so i just realized my senior cat (15 years old) has never trilled! She has always only meowed and purred as means of communication with me. My younger cat on the other hand (3 years old) trills very often when greeting me.
When the kittens started meowing, my male cat got up and started looking around 😭 He misses his brother and sister kittens! He used to let them crawl all over him, and he’d “babysit” when mama cat took a break 😍

Cats purr when they are happy or in peril. There is a video out there about a stray kitty that got beat up and the man 'saved' her, even though she was dieing and he thought she was happy. Bless his heart, and that poor kitty too. But they purr when they are in distress, not only when they are happy. Make them purr happy!

I think this might not be 100% accurate because my cat is fixed so he can't be wanting to mate. My dad says that my kitty only does this when I leave and he sits by the door doing it. And when I'm home he goes in the bathroom and sits in there and does it. So I don't know what that means.
Alice Anarchy ...Being fixed doesn't mean they don't go in heat. My cat was fixed in 2012, yet every once in a while, his pee-wee sticks out red as Rudolphs nose while he sits there licking it. I'm not being weird. It's an honest to God description of my cat. Now if someone has a female cat. Symptoms may be different since there is no pee-wee. If you ever catch your cat sitting on his bottom like a human with his back in a sitting position, you'll see what I mean. Sorry about the strong vocab, but it's just pure facts.

@:40 the "Yowling" by my cats for two reasons: #1 is the cat is very very sad and is unhappy with their situation (quarantine situation from other cats). The #2 reason is when I'm off to work, my hubby tells me that Rascal, joined by Timmy, and now Pepper all do this...I'm off to work and they look for me, realize I'm not there, and they just yowl and yowl for an hour or two. Its so sweet!

Loud YOWLING can also indicate severe pain. In my many years of rescuing these animals I've come across this type of heavy YOWLING, indicating most especially IN MALES that eat dry cat food exclusively, that their urinary track is BLOCKED. You have very little time to rush the animal to get EMERGENCY, veterinary care. Male cats should be served their dry cat food in a soupy mix, so as try to prevent urinary blockages. Special surgery is available to prevent this from occurring, although it is not 100% guaranteed. Leaving a bowl of water next to the dry cat food for him to lap up at will, is simply INSUFFICIENT! I always advise pet owners to have at hand, the 'phone number and address of a 24 hour, 7 days a week ( including holidays ) animal hospital. Thank You......Good Luck with your beloved pets. And to those of you who have had your pets cross, "THE RAINBOW BRIDGE" on to the other side.......I grieve for your loss ! 😢💔. P.S. "Videographer", ........Were you able to rescue those kittens desperately crying out for their Mother Cat ? Did she get hurt ? I worked in a very stressful environment, and my self and a friend decided to play cats. Whenever we passed, we would give a cat meow or hiss depending how we felt. The ultimate insult was kitty litter by kicking the feet back wards. This was always greeted with a hiss!! Worked for us for 5 years!!

I adopted an 8 year old cat about a year ago and this was very helpfull. Your cat is such a sweetie and a lot of the sounds she/he makes are quite soothing. i want to watch it again because it is so sweet.
I get the yowl a LOT from 2 (I have 3) of my boys, and with them... it's followed by telling which ever one is making the yowl at the time, 'I'm right here.' They immediately come running to me, making a few more yowls. I can't say why others do it, however. I love it. It's helped us bond more and more over the years.

I'm an older cat guy, and have always had a great relationship with cats--because I've watched how they communicate with each other and tried to do the same when communicating with them. It's amazing once you start paying attention to an animal, how much you can learn about them. Humans are supposed to be the "smart species"--but it's amazing how little we really know about other living things on our world.

This one cat that I had was a white cat with gray tabby spots named Gary and he would not meow, but, rather, he would do this weird purr-mew combination, even when he was a grown cat. Sadly, mean dogs murdered him when he was 4 and when I was out of town (thanks, dad, for letting out the cat when I was gone...X( ) helping my mother with her groceries. He was a nice cat, too. His brother, which is still alive, is a nice cat most of the time and he is currently on one of my arms as I am typing things out and he is now almost 14. The cat that I have meows normally.

If they sit they can fly any direction. Once they take off they can't change that direction easily. So maybe it's easier to catch it if the cat jumps ahead of that direction. Rather then jumping at where the bird was sitting since it won't be there when cat arrives.

Okay so i just realized my senior cat (15 years old) has never trilled! She has always only meowed and purred as means of communication with me. My younger cat on the other hand (3 years old) trills very often when greeting me.
When the kittens started meowing, my male cat got up and started looking around 😭 He misses his brother and sister kittens! He used to let them crawl all over him, and he’d “babysit” when mama cat took a break 😍
I know growling is a very clear sign that "I'm not messing around, pal!" but I still find it adorable, like a tiger on helium or something! Obviously I take notice and give the cat some space if it starts growling

Cats purr when they are happy or in peril. There is a video out there about a stray kitty that got beat up and the man 'saved' her, even though she was dieing and he thought she was happy. Bless his heart, and that poor kitty too. But they purr when they are in distress, not only when they are happy. Make them purr happy!

Alice Anarchy ...Being fixed doesn't mean they don't go in heat. My cat was fixed in 2012, yet every once in a while, his pee-wee sticks out red as Rudolphs nose while he sits there licking it. I'm not being weird. It's an honest to God description of my cat. Now if someone has a female cat. Symptoms may be different since there is no pee-wee. If you ever catch your cat sitting on his bottom like a human with his back in a sitting position, you'll see what I mean. Sorry about the strong vocab, but it's just pure facts.

@:40 the "Yowling" by my cats for two reasons: #1 is the cat is very very sad and is unhappy with their situation (quarantine situation from other cats). The #2 reason is when I'm off to work, my hubby tells me that Rascal, joined by Timmy, and now Pepper all do this...I'm off to work and they look for me, realize I'm not there, and they just yowl and yowl for an hour or two. Its so sweet!

One of my late cats from my childhood was a very talkative cat. Whenever we would be around him and spoke to him, he’d meow back as if he’s talking like a person. Always friendly, loved snuggles and was a good boy.

I've read somewhere, that purring is not strictly a good mood sound, that it may also mean pain or some discomfort. But I've only experienced relaxed, chilling and happy cat, feeling totaly safe while purring.

Loud YOWLING can also indicate severe pain. In my many years of rescuing these animals I've come across this type of heavy YOWLING, indicating most especially IN MALES that eat dry cat food exclusively, that their urinary track is BLOCKED. You have very little time to rush the animal to get EMERGENCY, veterinary care. Male cats should be served their dry cat food in a soupy mix, so as try to prevent urinary blockages. Special surgery is available to prevent this from occurring, although it is not 100% guaranteed. Leaving a bowl of water next to the dry cat food for him to lap up at will, is simply INSUFFICIENT! I always advise pet owners to have at hand, the 'phone number and address of a 24 hour, 7 days a week ( including holidays ) animal hospital. Thank You......Good Luck with your beloved pets. And to those of you who have had your pets cross, "THE RAINBOW BRIDGE" on to the other side.......I grieve for your loss ! 😢💔. P.S. "Videographer", ........Were you able to rescue those kittens desperately crying out for their Mother Cat ? Did she get hurt ? This is highly unusual for a momma cat to leave them alone to become victims of predators, or the mischief of the two legged kind. Kids also can be very, MEAN & CRUEL !!! 😻😸😺

I worked in a very stressful environment, and my self and a friend decided to play cats. Whenever we passed, we would give a cat meow or hiss depending how we felt. The ultimate insult was kitty litter by kicking the feet back wards. This was always greeted with a hiss!! Worked for us for 5 years!!

I've seen a video of a squirrel trying to wake up its mate after that mate had just been hit by a car--and you could see the squirrel watching for traffic. I get the yowl a LOT from 2 (I have 3) of my boys, and with them... it's followed by telling which ever one is making the yowl at the time, 'I'm right here.' They immediately come running to me, making a few more yowls. I can't say why others do it, however. I love it. It's helped us bond more and more over the years.
