One of mine does that as well! It’s much easier because she kinda moans as a warning sign before she does it, so we can get her to the tiles where it’ll be easier to clean. My other one has no warning though and just starts gagging.

I think we can be reductive and deduce that it means "this is my place and time to mate," so they wait for a response and if it's positive, they mate, if it's negative, they prepare to protect their territory.

My kitty says, "MaOW?" with question intonation when she is walking around looking for me. She says the same "Maow" with a come hither tone when she is playing hide-and-seek and wants me to come looking for her so she can jump out at me.

The only thing worse than that sound, is stepping in cat vomit *shudders*
mine coughs once or twice a week, but never vomits. I think it's a way to dislodge hairballs for them.
Told the vet he does it and he wasn't alarmed or anything.

My 2 cats vomit when they have eaten too much food/ eaten food too quickly or because they haven't had any grass to clear thier intestines.
Just hearing that sound from a cat or dog scares me. Sometimes you can't tell if they're going to vomit or not. I almost throw up when I try to remove the vomit with a paper towel
And the best part is- they never vomit when you bring the paper😑

My oldest is 16 this year. He’s started to yowl more. But like a strange low pitched yowl. Almost like he’s confused or disoriented. Usually happens if he’s in another room away from us or late at night. Once he finds us he’s purry again
My cat, Stella wld do that a yr before she passed, I think she was in pain. Took her to the Vet, she did have Thyroid disease & put on pills daily & had arthritis, the Vet that is why she cried at nite. She wld come & Sleep w me or my husband. I miss her everyday & so does my husband. We have a pic of her on our Mantle.

my favorite sound is the purr mixed wiht the ascending meow moan (oh okay, they call it 'trill').
my kitty always did it when i calmly surprised her from behind while she was laying down. i would very gently start petting her and she would lift her head and give me a little happy surprise tone and lay it back down and stretch.
she passed form kidney stuff and i believe this was the last time in my life i cried intensely and intermittently for a week. i still wake up, inexplicably crying, all of the sudden remembering her in my dreams, i guess; so strange.
No your not strange I do it too. My Bella and I had a close bond. She died of renal failure as well. I was absolutely devastated to lose her. What I'm saying is if you love your animals then cry and mourn their loss it's completely normal.

when i last saw her, she had that fluid pumped in her to help her body flush toxins. seeing her all water-plumped rly made my heart ache. she was purring and on pain meds, which i'm thankful for. she sat in my sister's lap,i knelt down beside her, and she stretched out her paw, looked at me in the eyes, and put it on my forearm, just keeping it there.
it seems like some animals really have such a strong, unique soul in them. it can feel/seem rather uncanny to witness. just for incidental instance, Maru is like this (from his human's YT channel). i love most animals and esp cats. but i think it's interesting that some are a bit more.. ??? idk... they seem to have a bit more emotional insight or complex sense of awareness.

I raised cats before but my family and I lived in countryside so they freely played outside together so I didn’t know about the chattering sound..
Now I am raising two cats in an apartment and as I play with them a lot, the first time I heard the chattering sound it scared me a lot 🤣 I thought my cat was broken and having a stroke.. then they started doing it so often then I guessed it meant they were excited to play

I have one cat who literally SCREAMS when he wants attention and another who "talks" to me. The one who talks typically only does it to me. It's a series of short, rapid meows, occasionally followed by a running grab for my butt so that I can't get away. My third cat rarely meows at me (only when I've "forgotten" to feed him or give him his medicine), but he does trill to say hello to me.

@@AbeliaScarlet He absolutely does. He's the weirdest cat I've ever met and I'm somewhat convinced that he's actually a human in cat form. After I started giving him his medicine (which is for a heart condition he almost died from), I noticed that he started making a new meow sometimes at night. The only thing I could put together is that if I was a little late giving him his meds, he'd make this particular sound. It's a short, very urgent, kind of angry meow. When I give him his medicine, he stops making that noise and goes back to trilling at me unless I'm also late with his food, in which case he switches to his "feed me" meow. He also willingly comes when I say "medicine time" and doesn't fight me when I give him the pill. Would you believe that I ALSO have a dog that comes to me and opens his mouth willingly for his medicine?? My fiance jokes that I'm a real-life Disney princess because of stuff like this hahaha

I had a tortie that would not meow inside the house. Outside, she would meow up a storm. Inside she wouldn't make a sound, except for a really soft purr if you stroked her. I always thought that she believed she would destroy the house if she meowed inside it. The one time she did meow was one of frustration, when my dad was being too slow with the treats. Obviously, she had her priorities right.

Since moving house and, especially now the weather is getting nicer, Lilith has developed a new meow which means (imagine a whiney teenager-type voice 😂) "muuuum, I wanna go outsiiiiiiide. NOOOOOOOOWWWW!" They don't go out without supervision because there is a busy road and a train line. We aren't usually hanging around in the harden at night so she's usually quite unhappy when we don't go out with her at 1am 🤣🤣 it's funny cos I'd predicted that shadow would be the one who started harassing us to go outside 😂

The very cute purring that comes from cats can either mean they're feeling happy and delighted or *_DEEPLY IN PAIN AND SUFFERING FROM CERTAIN CONDITIONS_*
Purring is like a request. It can be, "Love me because I'm happy.", "Love me because I'm scared", or "Love me because I'm in pain." Whatever the reason, I give them love when they ask for it. I have one cat who wants love after she does something bad. My guess is that guilt makes her feel bad, so she wants love, and maybe she knows she needs to get that love before I find the poop.

I often know what my cat wants by the different meows he makes. He has different meows for greeting, food, wanting to go outside, and affection. I can only distinguish meows with my cat, all meows sound the same to me with any other cat.
The vibrations from a cat's purr can actually promote healing in your body, so maybe the same thing happens inside of the cat when it purrs.

My cat meows out of loneliness because he wants to be where I am. While my door is already open... I have to litteraly call him when he meows like marco polo till he can find me. I feel bad that he is looking for me but I am always in the same place with the door open XD. He is a cute little goober and definitely a mama’s boy.
Most male cats are mama's boys. I miss my big tom. He was so attached to me that when we were rushing him to the vets for the fifth time (no one could figure it out) he reached out and touched my face, gave a quiet, "goodbye I love you" meow and passed. 😭 This was years ago but I still look for him and miss him so much. Sometimes I feel him jump on my bed at night (very heavy plop) and I know he is visiting. I welcome him and remind him I still think of him and miss him. This happens when my bedroom door is shut and there are no other cats in the room. RIP Mr. Tibbs, my amazing mama's boy ❤️❤️ I know we will see each other again

We had a cat, who would like to wait until they got up onto furniture so that their puke would go all over everything on the floor next to said furniture. One time, they did this while near the TV and the stuff wound up all over a surge protector and some electronics. Thankfully nothing was harmed, but eeew.
Or up on a shelf to do it from up high, onto the couch or the bed or something soft.

Cats often won't eat the last bit of food in the bowl because dipping their head so far into the bowl like that causes their whiskers to get a lot more contact then they like which over stimulates them and stresses them to the point that they can't eat!

This video is very informative: We're currently in the process of being adopted by a few stray/feral cats (yes, I did mean it in that order, heh), with two in particular liking to spend their time inside with us. Knowing what they're vocalizing is helping a lot. :)

Also, about the talking to birds thing. I once saw my cat talking to some birds, left the room to do stuff but when I came back. There was at least 4 birds all right in front of the window and one had a worm in his mouth. Both the birds and cat literally seemed like they were having a conversation.

@@wormpoo somewhat at the verge. he is still capable of catching mice and even small birds, but yea since he begs everyone in the neighbourhood for cat food and we have a lot of old catladies that will happily feed him, there is not much we can realy do.
