Triumph certainly is proud of their branded accessories (here in the US they get $270 for their factory plug-n-play heated grips kit). Also, it's nice to see I'm not the only guy that will occasionally sacrifice a no-name tool (like an Allen wrench) to make one more useful to me.
Hiya Penny and Del, great video. Tough Paint Satin Black ought to be a sponsor. When you find something that works, stick with it! The parts look great in black on the bike... very nice work. Take care, dear friends. Be well, ride safe.
How's the paint holding up? I'm currently thinking of painting a lot of parts on my bike. I'd also like to do the mud guards and the crash bars (sorry, "dresser" bars) and I'm wondering if I should get them powder coated. Those things will get scratched. I think a power coating might be more durable, but regular paint is easier to fix? Would you do it the same way again?
Great job, so good to see someone doing spray can work properly and well! Really tidied up the look of the bike, a more streamlined and cohesive look. Great stuff! Cheers Steve
For every person who moans at you for painting things black, there is me, lol. "Is he going to paint it black? Gee that would look much better if it were black. I sure hope he paints it black." lol. You do you, and be happy mate. :)
Great video Del, the painted parts match well and provide a better look. Here’s an alternative thread sealer suggestion, for those tight areas. The no drip Loctite 248 Blue Threadlocker 19gm Stick.
Hi buddy, I do have a tube of that somewhere, it's like the old fashioned Pritt Stick but blue and it does work really well in tight areas, thanks for sharing, always great to hear from you!
Now you gotta replace your Allen wrench!! Lol I’ve modified many of my tools and my wife not happy bout replacing it … told her we made it work didn’t we?? Grin. Love your performance. Looks great!! Cleaning screws is same task I do! Really Kwel!!
OK, Del, I like the blacked out look myself as it's easier to keep clean than brightwork is. If you want to give the engine fasteners that blacked out look, I can recommend Carbolts UK in West Yorkshire, they have a massive range of black stainless steel fasteners in metric sizes.
Much better with these toned down parts. There is such much to learn from your videos, thumbs up! I have to get some tough paint when on holiday in Wales. Günter/Nürnberg
Great video, I have been using the spray on my bike and the centre stand, had a tour of Scotland and it's all chipped off, am I doing something wrong on prep
Certainly if it's just chipping off.. maybe clean it a little more thoroughly with thinners and apply a proper tack coat for a good key.! a main stand lives in a really filthy area, lots of oil and chain lube.. perhaps you didn't clean it all off..?
Del, I'm not even 25 seconds in and had to comment! Your whiteboard message made me bray out loud like a jackass that got into the corn whiskey! Now let me watch the video!! :).... Definitely better like this, I say!
@@Moonfleet41 You've gotta hand it to 'em... Your trolls are nothing if not loyal! They don't seem to know that any interaction is boosting the channel in the ol' algorithms... hi - i tried your method, worked out great! i want to spray paint some parts in gold, like the supension fork. i couldn't find a comparable gold color from simomiz. can you give me a tip on which color i can use?
Beautiful work Del and Penny. The "styling page" sounds like a good place to avoid on ANY motorcycle website.😄 +1 on the custom tool tally. Even on a machine as pure and simple as a motorcycle there is always something in your way. Stay well my friends. ❤👍👍
Thanks Rick, and you're right, you can spend a fortune on the clip on bits!! Glad you enjoyed today's video, thanks for all your very kind support, have a great week, D&Px
More black, nah - Six coats of Post Office red to 'accent' the black . . A bike called Dennis! (Wotz the law on hooters - can you have a very loud electric klaxon called 'Gnasher'? : )xx
Awesome video, would love to do this to my XC. Could you tell me after the washing process do you wipe them with thinners before applying tack coat. And also I'm guessing no lacquer or clear coat needed after the tough paint?
Thinners is ok carefully, too much and you can melt the old surface.. you could use a panel wipe wax and grease remover.. it's just to thoroughly degrease it first... and No, you don't need anything over the top of Tough paint. !
Again, another great video deal just one thing you do the topcoat first then you say wait for it to dry and flash off what does flash off mean sorry to sound dumb but I just don’t know
Nice video Del & Penny. Excellent job mate, looks so much better in black, lot to love that paint. Hope the last part of your go's well, take care. Cheers
Wow, well done sir! That heatshield for the 2-1 exhaust, which one is that? I've been looking to get that exhaust myself but the heatshield you have there looks a lot better than the default one! :D
In previous video’s your scram was red now black ? Do you have 2? 😬 Love all your videos perfect editing and montage also very educational 👍🏻 keep op the good work
Awesome video brother!!! Bike came out great ! That paint really makes it pop ! Bike is looking bad ass , keep up the great work brother !!! Stay safe guys cheers from New York !
100% improvement Del. I love the way Penny speeds up the motion sometimes. Like when you are turning a bolt, or in this case watching paint dry. Keep up the good work my friends. Yours is my #1 favorite UA-cam site. I have spent a fair sum of $$$ on some of the same equipment and tools that you use.
Really appreciate your kind words mate, and yes Penny is a trooper, her arms got really tired holding the camera whilst the paint dried lol But seriously, thanks so much, it's great to know you enjoy what we do! D&Px

Sure thing Paul, tools are for use and if they need to be adapted, then so be it!... and you're right, branded accessories are big business!

Thank you so much mate, you're so right, it works for me! Have a great week there and enjoy your weekend when it arrives! All the very best, D&Px
As soon as you brought that first painted piece near the bike I let out a loud internal "YES!" This looks amazing!
Thank you so much mate for that kind approval!
Nicely done. You're one of the few people I'd be happy to have work on my bike, with your attention to detail like that.
Thanks mate 👍
I have to admit that looks better. Derrick you have got me using this paint. Done loads to my bike. Mainly subframe. Excellent stuff.

We're both good, and thank you for your kind thoughts..

As always, good job and nice to watch. Just a question, whats the small bell that is attached to the bike for?
It's referred to commonly as a 'Guardian Bell', it is traditional gifted to you and is a lucky charm!
Certainly a lot cheaper than buying the same items but in black. Easier to clean too 👍🏻
Sure thing buddy, nothing like having it washable! Have a great week, hugs to the family, D&Px

Love your performance. Looks great!! Cleaning screws is same task I do! Really Kwel!!
Yes, almost once a week i have to modify a tool for some job or another.. makes life easier and cheaper then buying specialised ones.!
I concur!!! Sometimes better than what you buy…. 🤷🏼♂️

Most give them a little heat and oil bath.
Thanks buddy, great tip, I'll give them a look!
Well done! A simple before and after photo side by side would be the PERFECT ending.
Only 4 mins into the video and all i can say is, "Hell Yes!!!! Do it, turn down the chrome!!!!" :D
You turning it into the 007 bike Del? 😉
Wow! That looks great. Good work.
Thank you! Cheers!

Agree Del has neatened up the look overall 👍

Love that tough paint used it on my 03 Honda fireblade 954 after watching you Del so forgiving and quality finish. Looks class
Right on buddy, million uses and always delivers... thanks for watching..!
Came out the way the factory SHOULD have done it, Del! Loved the Allen wrench mod, too! Hope you both are well!
🏍👍🏍
Thanks buddy👍, sadly the factory DO make them available like that as an extra... maybe been taking some lessons from Harley ..lol

It's a paint term mate, referring to a quick evaporation of the carrier spirits allowing the paint surface to go tacky!
Great video as always :) just 1 thing Im not tack coating my fist :)
love that finish, just right!
