ah i miss her thrift flips. the great thing i love about ashley's content is that she's not afraid to show her mistakes. i always feel like shit when i see youtubers "perfecting" their thrift flips on the first try, but really they just don't show the mistakes they made. it makes ashley all the more relatable and human.

Soetkin if you have a sewing center in your area you could pay to use a machine and the employees can help you. Fabric stores sometimes have sewing classes so you might be able to arrange a way to use their machines for a fee
In Europe, they are really really cheap on second hand apps such as Vinted. I managed to buy a brand new pair of Re/done x Levi's for 20 euros and a brand new pair of 501 skinny for 9 euros. Maybe try and search for levi's on second hand apps 😊

I grew up poor, having torn or otherwise damaged clothes was a sign of poverty, being unable to afford new ones. So were the myriad patches sewn and glued onto my clothes, a lot of which were made by my mom from whatever cheap fabric she could scrounge in the sales bin of the nearby sewing supply store, or hand me downs from my parents taken in to fit me. I've never understood people deliberately damaging stuff to make it look "distressed". I didn't get many new clothes until I was 13-14 years old, and even then they were mostly from discount stores.
for anyone sewing with denim or thick fabrics, you can and should buy thicker sewing needles made for that exact purpose! they're a lot less likely to break on you. (vice versa for more delicate fabrics there are thinner needles)

it's the same reason pointillism looks like a fuzzy but semi-uniform color. the addition of other colors counteracts the vibrance of the brightest one (the blue, in this case) and makes it look like a toned-down muted version of a related color. it's like how a very thinly striped red and white shirt will look pink from a distance. your eyes basically can't perceive the precise colorful details, so your brain is like 'okay this is the basic idea but slightly to the left'
As someone who has clear retainers you hear yourself saying words with a lisp because you’re used to your voice without it but in reality nobody can hear it

I am 13, so it is very hard to find what i want. i tried them on and they fit really really well except for the fact it is too tight around the waist area. so i refused to not get them and whenever i sit i just unbutton the pants lmao okay no one needed to know that but just thought id share

Its weird coming back to this video 3 years later. I remember watching this and thinking "wow shes like my cool older sister who can literally do anything". Its 2022 and im 20 years old. This video still gives me so much comfort but its strange looking at her at 20 and realizing how young she is here. Idk why it feels so different, i always knew we were close in age. Iuliana Mindru check out Annika Victoria and Angela Clayton, they are great sewing UA-cam channels and they will teach you lots. In my opinion you don't need to take any kind of classes to learn sewing, it's all online

Just a tip for anyone who wants to sew denim: open up the seems before altering the jeans. This will make it way easier because the material wont be as thick and remember: right sides together
@@StardollLoverXD It means you put the outside of the fabric (the visible front) together when sewing. So you're basically sewing on the inside of the garment, then turn it around. This hides the inward seams and gives you the final look.
It helps SO much to see the mistakes you made and how you thought through it and corrected them! Thanks for leaving those honest parts in. It makes starting and making mistakes less frustrating to know my go to girl has them too
HUGE CONGRATS ON 1 MIL!!! I've been a fan for a while and you never disappoint with content and your bubbly and lovely personality always makes me smile :))
You fold it up to where you want it to go. Effectively treating the bottom half like a second peice that you're putting face down against a face up piece. You then sew the line where you want them connected. Trim the excess and flip it back down so that there is now a top peice and a bottom.peice connected by a seam. Id recommend doing a topstitch which she didnt do but would help it from shifting.
Pinch the fabric together with the original butt seam in the middle. Then, find some clips you don't care about (like a clothespin) and clip the new seam in place (all while the original butt seam is in the middle of the pinch). Take a marker and then draw it down both sides of the clipped fabric. If you do have pins or/and don't mind risking poking yourself with them, you can you use pins instead of clips to mark out the modified seam. Next, take the pants off and if you can and if you can, also, top stitch it. Finally, before you keep the new stitch, try on your jeans again before you cut the excess fabric and iron out the new seam flat from the inside so it lays flatter (be careful as to not burn it). Also: try to do a squat of sorts before you sew down the seam in order to test that they're comfortable. You don't want them to rise up funny or pinch you down below.
You mean the sweater diy? She basically just raised the original hem of the sweater by pinching the fabric between the original hem and where she wanted the hem to be raised to and sewing it down.

You can also get "denim needles" for your machine that will help you sew through denim. (I still broke 2 altering a pair of jeans though)

You fold it up to where you want it to go. Effectively treating the bottom half like a second peice that you're putting face down against a face up piece. You then sew the line where you want them connected. Trim the excess and flip it back down so that there is now a top peice and a bottom.peice connected by a seam.
Id recommend doing a topstitch which she didnt do but would help it from shifting.
Pinch the fabric together with the original butt seam in the middle. Then, find some clips you don't care about (like a clothespin) and clip the new seam in place (all while the original butt seam is in the middle of the pinch). Take a marker and then draw it down both sides of the clipped fabric. If you do have pins or/and don't mind risking poking yourself with them, you can you use pins instead of clips to mark out the modified seam. Next, take the pants off and if you can and if you can, also, top stitch it. Finally, before you keep the new stitch, try on your jeans again before you cut the excess fabric and iron out the new seam flat from the inside so it lays flatter (be careful as to not burn it).
Also: try to do a squat of sorts before you sew down the seam in order to test that they're comfortable. You don't want them to rise up funny or pinch you down below.
You mean the sweater diy? She basically just raised the original hem of the sweater by pinching the fabric between the original hem and where she wanted the hem to be raised to and sewing it down.
