I absolutely love my Matrix 6r--it's honestly my "secret sauce" synth. So many great sounds can be designed with this, and a little bit of patience. ;)
A great demo of Matrix 6 synth. I remember when I played around with the Matrix 6 back in 1987. Back then, it didn't really impressed me, but now when I listen to its sound, I wish I had foresight to get one and keep it.......
Oberheim synths have such a great character. I don't own any Oberheim synths, but I use my DX7 to emulate some Oberheim sounds and some of them are pretty good. I would love to own Matrix synths one day.....
My father own a Matrix 12, never have i heard a fatter and warmer synth. Its matrix modulation capabilities are insane! And its light, and portable. The last true Oberheim.
I have a Matrix-6. Wanted to sell it. Found these patches. Got the patches. Installed the patches. Didn't sell my matrix-6. Long story short: If you have a Matrix-6/1000/6R...Get. Those. Patches.
Excellent on my shopping list because of this video. Ar well bread and jam and sardines for the next year or two. the sounds are too amazing. I loved the strings and pad sounds. well done, thanx for sharing. You get used to sardines after a while. But only for special occasions.
Nice sounding, I would like to buy one the 1000 and 6R but am always worried about their condition after so many years of use. Sounds like Miami Vice soundtrack music!
Excellent work on the patches. Is there any chance you would make a version available for the Kiwi-1000 upgrade of the M-1000? The patch parameters are quite different from the factory scheme.
+Dashot Bae to sequence it via MIDI from a MAQ 16/4: yes. Poly-chain? I don't think so... if I remember correctly, this should be possible with Matrix-1000
Each time I imagine getting one of these modules, I also find myself lusting after the Roland MKS-70. Have you ever used or owned one of those? Is comparing it with a Matrix model a question of apples and oranges? Your programming of the drumbeats cries out Commodore 64/Elektron SID Station (in a real positive way). I also dig (what sound like) momentary references to Real Life and The Alan Parsons Project.
the MKS-70 is the rack version of the JX8P, right? I never had a MKS70, but I can say that the Matrix sounds much warmer than the JX8p. Maybe it helps ;-) Well the drums are actually drums from a cheap small casio keyboard, which I sampled with the MPC 1000.
AnalogAudio1 Aw, I was so sure it was a multitimbral application of the Matrix synths. Those sounds fit so well with the analog ones. Thanks for your two cents' worth about the Oberheim-v-Roland comparison..
The 1000 can store 1000 patches, whereas the 6r only stores 100. You can edit sounds on the 6r using the buttons. The 1000 has no on-board editing capabilities; you'll need an external device for that.

They are very different beasts. The Expander & the Matrix are both 6-voice, but the routing options are much much more fexible, so one can be creative & produce much more sophisticated sounds. The 12 has the extensive routing options of the Expander, but twice the polyphony & includes the keyboard. The answer is simple. Some musicians buy it for the great basic sound and for making music, not to learn how to program it :-) apart from that, it takes long to come up with really good sounds. If you already have usable sounds, you can concentrate on your music.
@@AnalogAudio1 That's like saying some people buy a guitar to "make music" not for learning how to place your fingers and strummimg correctly to get the sounds you want. It's an electonic intrument but intrument none the less.
