The Moody Blues are amazing. I’m 41 and my mother passed away in 2010 due to being hit by a car while crossing the street. She was my everything. As well as my father. We built an amazing relationship after my mother passed away. He died of a heart attack and stroke this June. The moody blues were a huge part of my childhood. I miss my parents tremendously and I cry listening to the moody blues but it brings me back to all our road trips and our ski trips at Stratton Mountain in Vermont. The music brings me back to that amazing time in my life as a child. I miss you Mom and Dad. You both were the most amazing parents and my best friends!! I love and miss you so much that it’s hard to breathe.
sorry for your loss. i was 16 when this song was released, great band. brings back memories for me as well. my mother passed at 70, for many years we were at odds with each other. I am so happy that we became close a few years prior to her passing. you are fortunate to have been close to your parents. I turn 70 this year the same age as my mom was. I'd like to see her again although I hope she won't mind if it's not to soon.
I first heard the Moody Blues in the 60's and it blew me away. The music from my generation is incredible. It still boggles my mind. I am grateful to be a member of this generation. I am now 72 and still love it.
Same here! I’m still amazed at the insane talent in our generation… I’m 70, husband 75, we still love driving down the road to the wonderful guitar & drums of ZZTop; Led Zeppelin (only 1st two albums); Van Halen; the blues of Jimmi Hendrix, etc. Incredible music talent

I’m 31 now and I forgot this song existed, and i heard a small clip of it and I had to immediately find the song and hear the whole thing. The Witch Hazel tree said with a sigh, to the birds and squirrels nesting in her hair, come eat of my abundant fruit, for the winter draws nigh and harsh it will be!
During the era when The Moody Blues were making music, the profound impact of the group might not have been fully recognized. The musical landscape was brimming with extraordinary compositions, and the sheer abundance of remarkable tunes led us to sometimes overlook the exceptional contributions of bands like The Moody Blues. It was an era when the richness of musical creativity allowed us to take for granted the wealth of extraordinary sounds that were shaping the cultural tapestry of the time.
Aaahhhh.... Music before auto tune. When Artists had Talent! To hear REAL music in 2022, I have to go back to my Childhood in the 70's, or earlier!!! This hits the spot!
The 1960's music was incredible and NOTHING today measures up to it. The Moody Blues was one of the best groups of that era - and of any era actually. In this song, the lead singer's vocal talent and range is proven in all its glory. Just... wow.
I can't understand why the Moodies have been almost forgotten now, they have good fans in UK but not popular in other countries. The LP " Days of future passed" is pure bliss, the music is just outstanding, a musical journey made by genius minds. I always say that the Moody Blues haven't been fully understood at their time and maybe also today.
I don't get it either because these guys were pioneers -- the fathers of prog rock. The first to fuse rock music with symphony orchestra; the first to overlap tracks on their albums using fade-out and fade-in; their extensive use of the mellotron and flute was not being replicated at all until at least a year after they finished _Days of Future Passed;_ the first to fuse poetry with rock music. AND while they weren't especially strong on lyrics, the lyrics were very introspective and made you think while you listened. I don't think we'll see talent like that again in _our_ lifetimes.
@@briane173 theyre a rare bird for sure. And in a good way. Its as if they have a way of projecting eeriness and wonderful positiveness at the same time.
@@RonaldCharlesEpstein Right on! I grew up in the 1970s. Graduated from high school in 1973 and college in 1978. The 1970s, what transpired, and the people I met, are now part of me until the day I die. And beyond.
John Golofit The times long gone this song evokes memories of for me are of high school circa 1982 when I bought an original pressing of Days Of Future Past. Middle School through high school was the best days of my life ever and hearing this makes it Forever Afternoon (Tuesday) in those days for me😀
The reason they weren't megastars in the early days was because they were ahead of their time. When all of the other bands were strumming guitars and banging drums the Moody Blues were producing music.
I grew up with this kind of music, and 60 years later it's still here. It was the best of times, it was some worst of times. But we made it through and survived it all; and no matter how hard it has been we will continue our journey with this music into the hereafter (whatever it may be).
I was born in sixty-one and all the music after that, and my Mom's music before just seems like the back music of life!? All my memories are based on this music 🙏❣️ and it's positive and good.
You were born the year before the beatles broke, i was born the year they did break, 1962. Life was much more innocent then...and my mom had wonderful taste in music and was a classically trained pianist. She started teaching me the craft when i was 6. I would not be the musician i am today had it not had been for her. :)
I was in the military in Western Germany in 1968. I bought the album Days of Future Passed in the NAAFI shop just intrigued by the artwork on the cover. I played the album and was straight away beloved of the music and have bought every album by the Moody Blues from that day. The girl I was courting also loved the music and later became my wife. We still love the music and it brings back very fond memories for us. One of my children also loves this music, he was in the womb and must have heard this many times during my wife's pregnancy. We still love the music very much to this day. Just lovely music forever.
This song takes right back to the 70's. Sitting on the banks of the river Cam, trying to figure out life. I loved the Moody Blues music, this song is special.
And yet the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame has ignored them. That says more about the Hall than it does the Moodies. They are already Hall of Fame for me...... Period.
That is how all good music really is in every kind of music. They want the mass to love devil worshipping music where they say things in reverse to full the mass. The mass is easily fooled by SHIT!!! Just thought I would add my comment....
This was a favorite as a teenage stoner, but as a passed middle age person, I can appreciate it on a whole new level. It's a great song by a great band.
These guys are musical treasures that enriched my life. Now 69,I always heard a message of life affirming hope in their music and that helped me get through some hard times. Now i can kick back to let the memories and melodies soothe my brain. Love me some Moody Blues.
I was just a little dude back in the late '60s. I remember traveling with my parents in their 1966 Buick Sports Wagon while listening to this jam over the radio waves back in the day. Still miss music like this when the artists were like poets and the music was filled with amazement!
I first heard this song in 1968 at the age of 15. I remember where I was when I heard it. I was blown away...mesmerized...by this sound coming thru my radio. So began my life long love of the Moody Blues....the music of my life.
I heard it on AFRN Bangkok, the band was not mentioned and the lead and finale were overrun by the DJ so as to prevent counterfeiting. All I remember was a craving to hear it again and again, so alluring and intoxicating.
I'm listening to this on a Thursday because I like it too much to wait until Tuesday.

Last gasp of creativity and the real human world, before the digital age dawned. There's a reason we look back with such fondness and longing...
Absolutely!
NEIN. I have arrived. My influence come from 60-90's mostly with a love for strings. Just you wait, it's coming back. The internet is screaming for it :)
Absolutely! The last grasp or gasp , we just didn't know then.
Transistors and Tube Amps amazing 👏
I agree. xo
Long live 60's and 70's rock! Grew up in Vietnam with this!
By your comment I would have to say, Thank you for your service!
Bl❤ we grew up in the best ERA in the world ,, 0
I’m 31 now and I forgot this song existed, and i heard a small clip of it and I had to immediately find the song and hear the whole thing. And it immediately brought me back to when I was a kid and my father would play the song while we cleaned up the house. No worries, no stress, just simple. I miss and cherish those fond memories of yesterday and of my father. Thank you for taking me back 🥹
My son's say the same thing. I'm glad we created good memories for them with the Moody Blues. 💕
You guys missed the great time for music
My precious Daddy passed on a Tuesday...
Hi DeAnn💐💐
Tuesday afternoon
I'm just beginning to see
Now I'm on my way
It doesn't matter to me
Chasing the clouds away
Something calls to me
The trees are drawing me near
I've got to find out why
Those gentle voices I hear
Explain it all with a sigh
I'm looking at myself reflections of my mind
It's just the kind of day to leave myself behind
So gently swaying through the fairyland of love
If you'll just come with me you'll see the beauty of
Tuesday afternoon
Tuesday afternoon
Tuesday afternoon
I'm just beginning to see
Now I'm on my way
It doesn't matter to me
Chasing the clouds away
Something calls to me
The trees are drawing me near
I've got to find out why
Those gentle voices I hear

Hey Rein Peelen, this is really great, to see them lyrics! For not easy any more to retrieve. Thank you!
What is being said? It's deep to those who penned this. It was one different Tuesday to remember or to forget.
A dielectical experience, come out of the cave and intro/circumspect.
The Witch Hazel tree said with a sigh, to the birds and squirrels nesting in her hair, come eat of my abundant fruit, for the winter draws nigh and harsh it will be!
He was high when this happened to him😊
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE The Moody Blues !!! Justin's voice is SO BEAUTIFUL !!! 💜👍
"Tuesday Afternoon", one of The Moody Blues best!
If not their best!
My Second favorite song of theirs. First being Question.
@@christopherunfus8962 maybe but it means so much..they all do!❤

SSSHHHH...
You Might SPOIL someone's INVESTMENTS, as it seems Today DEVELOPING Youth and TALENT is TOO TIME CONSUMING and COSTLY!
😂
The 1960's music was incredible and NOTHING today measures up to it. The Moody Blues was one of the best groups of that era - and of any era actually. In this song, the lead singer's vocal talent and range is proven in all its glory. Just... wow.
Amen
My favorite group in the 70s
Yes they are well loved and remembered in the USA.
Brian E. Yes the first proggers. Absolutely.
@@briane173 theyre a rare bird for sure. And in a good way. Its as if they have a way of projecting eeriness and wonderful positiveness at the same time.
I was a teenager when I first heard the moody blues. Now I'm 58
I am 69 years old and love the the Moody Blues. One of my favorites if your Wildest Dreams and Nights in White Satin. ❤❤❤
This song reminds me of times long gone. Forever. But they come back whenever I hear this song...
Well said.
The Moody Blues music has a timeless quality, but if you have memories about the group and/or their music, you grew up in the 1970s.
@@RonaldCharlesEpstein Right on! I grew up in the 1970s. Graduated from high school in 1973 and college in 1978. The 1970s, what transpired, and the people I met, are now part of me until the day I die. And beyond.
So so true!
John Golofit The times long gone this song evokes memories of for me are of high school circa 1982 when I bought an original pressing of Days Of Future Past. Middle School through high school was the best days of my life ever and hearing this makes it Forever Afternoon (Tuesday) in those days for me😀
never understand how they where not huge ,as they where one of the best bands of the 70s
They are huge!
Too deep for most people.
I think they were ahead of their time. As Daniel Purdy said, they were too deep for a lot of people in the 70's
The reason they weren't megastars in the early days was because they were ahead of their time. When all of the other bands were strumming guitars and banging drums the Moody Blues were producing music.
they do have a loyal "band" of followers Im sure..I've been to 9 of their shows thru the years..AWESOME vibe...
Shit we were lucky to grow up in this music generation - can now leave this world with a smile on my face😊
I grew up with this kind of music, and 60 years later it's still here. It was the best of times, it was some worst of times. But we made it through and survived it all; and no matter how hard it has been we will continue our journey with this music into the hereafter (whatever it may be).
At least they can sing and be understood, brings someone closer to the meaning of life.
Relevant, an imprortant concept then.
A very unique group. Stunningly beautiful, mystical, without question one of THE greats. Period.
Yep!!!
Dj good call!!!
Kudos to all the DJ's of the era that played this song on any afternoon OTHER than Tuesday!
I was born in 60, and it's the same for me. Bless you Lisa !
1961 - yes baby!
63 Baby here! I agree!
Me too!!😎
It's Thursday afternoon but what the heck. Great song no matter what day of the week it is. R.I.P. Denny Laine.
The Moody Blues have been part of my life for 53 years. RIP Ray Thomas and Graeme Edge
How can you not love this song?
How can you not . Right . Happy Tuesday !
My initiation song, my I loved my hazing.
Right on.
Pity those who do not love this song. They have no heart or soul at least not this kind.
My lovely aunt & uncle edcucated me with their
Favorites. I’m 61 now and still rocking ✌🏻🤓
My favorite song of the Moodies. Ironically, they could perform it equally well live, too. Back when bands had this thing called "talent!"
Lip sync would have been considered a kind of fraud back then. You paid for a ticket to a concert not a pantomime session.
Haha
Ah talent. The lost art. Bands didn't have to sample(steal) lip sync or use voice enhancement. They had more pride then that
"those gentle voices I hear explain it all with a sigh"

I finally saw them in 1995. It was a Wednesday afternoon.
I can't believe it's been 50 years. Remember it like it was yesterday
Beautiful memory to celebrate. Thanks for reminding me of Days of Future Passed.
My LP walked away but thanks to YTube ...I’ll listen again .
Talent galore! MY FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME! I loved them at 16,and still do!(I am 69!)Beautiful music and lyrics from a masterful group!
Not my 'top' favorite, but it's definitely one of them. We're the same age, very fortunate to experience the music of those times be well ☮️🙂
I’m 69, also, and the Moody Blues have always been my favorite musical group.
69 also. The time went by so quickly. Especially after my dad and mom passed away.
great memories with this song
I'd forgotten how beautiful that song is. I used to listen to the Moody Blues for hours.
Great music & Great times.
Hard to believe that I have been listening to this all my life. I am almost 60.
Yes I'm glad I grew up in this Generation also. They just don't make Music like this anymore ❤😊such a Variety of all from this Music World.
This song takes right back to the 70's. Sitting on the banks of the river Cam, trying to figure out life. I loved the Moody Blues music, this song is special.
I Love 💕 This Song 🎶 and I saw the Moody Blues in Buffalo NY oh so Long Ago
This has been my favorite album for over 50 years.
And yet the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame has ignored them. That says more about the Hall than it does the Moodies. They are already Hall of Fame for me......
Period.
Well said.
That is how all good music really is in every kind of music. They want the mass to love devil worshipping music where they say things in reverse to full the mass. The mass is easily fooled by SHIT!!! Just thought I would add my comment....
***** Stop drinking.
***** Haven't been drinking....
I wasn't aware of that. It's so ludicrous I thought you were joking. Doesn't speak well of the Hall of Fame.
I was born on a Wednesday (child is full of woe)…but still nae a bad tune…👴🏼🏴…love to all 😘
A huge soul group of musicians came in during the 60s,70s and 80s to bring in a higher vibration which is timeless. ✨
Hello Marilyn, How are you doing?
What is it about bands and the day Tuesday? Rolling Stones had Ruby Tuesday, Skynyrd had Tuesday's gone. What is the significance?
this guy has an awesome ability to evoke the 'sweet sorrow' emotion in his songs.
Thankful to have seen them over the years from the 60’s on.
This was a favorite as a teenage stoner, but as a passed middle age person, I can appreciate it on a whole new level. It's a great song by a great band.
I'm 64 and still appreciate it as a stoner!😁😁😭
Me to Mary and I'm 72 years young. Rock on!
@@haywoodalanhayhorr8052 Nothin' like smokin' a bone and listening to these good ol' boys ❣

One of my favorite moody blues songs of all time - timeless, haunting - simple yet profound
I agree.
Sutterjack haunting describes it perfectly💝
meh i call every moody's song my favorite, but listen to justin's solo stuff, night flight! just wow
I had this entire album on a 4 hour reel to reel tape. Back in the day. Roll one
It never haunts!
. So, explain how is it haunting?
This from a flower of nameless design...
I was born in 1955. I’ve never heard this song. I like it. A friend sent it to me. I currently have covid. My second time around.
This makes me sad when I think how good things were back then. Not everything but most were. How I wish I could go back in time, never to return.
Timeless classic: for all times.
This song save my life❤
These guys are musical treasures that enriched my life. Now 69,I always heard a message of life affirming hope in their music and that helped me get through some hard times. Now i can kick back to let the memories and melodies soothe my brain. Love me some Moody Blues.
Thx for the laugh . Amazing what they teach in school. Life and it's magic .😂😅😮🇨🇦
I was just a little dude back in the late '60s. I remember traveling with my parents in their 1966 Buick Sports Wagon while listening to this jam over the radio waves back in the day. Still miss music like this when the artists were like poets and the music was filled with amazement!
Reminds me of my mom...may she rest in peace
72 now, I listen to the 60s and relive my great youth I had. Everything becomes real from that time.
I first heard this song in 1968 at the age of 15.
I remember where I was when I heard it.
I was blown away...mesmerized...by this sound coming thru my radio.
So began my life long love of the Moody Blues....the music of my life.
Me too. I was delivering newspapers at 5am and listening to a tiny little transistor radio.
I heard it on AFRN Bangkok, the band was not mentioned and the lead and finale were overrun by the DJ so as to prevent counterfeiting. All I remember was a craving to hear it again and again, so alluring and intoxicating.
Same here
When talent was so great it was backed up by an orchestra!
Loved waking up to this one on my radio in the early 70s
So glad I grew up in the 60s and 70s. Truly a wonderful time for the music!
