Can you imagine? An underground coffee shop, people smoking, drinking, talking, moving about and the Moody Blues are playing in the background. Bloody hell...
I'm not sure the audience realized what they were experiencing. It was a studio quality performance of a classic that will endure for many, many years.
Yes, I see the image clearly and distinctly before me. In 1970 I was 22 years old and lived in Amsterdam. And although all kinds of changes began to take place, both musically and culturally, such as a whole row of bands falling apart, a lot of new and good things took their place.
I am 74 and have loved their music since I first heard Tuesday Afternoon on a dark night drive home from my girlfriend's house. I have every album they have done, my life and thier music are connected. That girlfriend and I have been married 51 years.
Concerts now are like a circus. People jumping all over, slinging their arms in the air, spilling beer on you. You can’t see the band. Everybody is singing ,( more like screaming). Everybody thinks that they are the center of attention 🤪I go to very few concerts anymore 😟 I miss 60’s and 70’s. People sat still and LISTENED TO THE SONG. It was great.
I love the Moody Blues and lots of the Great Prog rock bands of my teen years. There are some more current bands that carry on that kind of quality arrangement. Check out Symphonic Metal. Nightwish live with the current lead singer Floor Jansen. The orchestra and choirs are there, but on their London Orchestra/Choir pre-recorded backing tracks and keyboards.
These Moody Blues songs are all delivered by the unique, if not haunting tones of Justin"s excellent melodic voice. These tunes are still relevant, fifty years hence.
I recently lost my Sister to cancer at the age of 45. I had a dream where I asked her "What is it like there on the other side?" She responded "Matt it's just like "Tuesday Afternoon"".... I didn't understand until I saw this video and really listened to the lyrics... Rest in Peace Shelly (Michelle Mulhisen) I hope to see you soon so we both can enjoy Tuesday Afternoon....
I have always loved the Moody Blues. Dealing with Stage 4 cancer, etc. is very scary and painful. Looking forward to going to Heaven. In Heaven I will no longer have any more pain. Lori Banaszak/Haley/Zimmermann.
He has this kind of yodle when he goes for the high the high notes and unique. He has a voice that can just reach out and grab you and pull you in. I love it.
Me too! Turned 68 on Easter Sunday! MB's have always been the _hippest_ rock artists to always display exemplary stage presence as _Gentlemen_. I'm truly grateful.
I love Justin's voice and am convinced that he could have been a huge huge pop star if he had chosen that path. Luckily he didn't. An underappreciated talent.
There's so much to love about this video. I love the smokey venue, the clothes, Justin's puffy shirt, the bell bottomed jeans and this utterly amazing song!
I didn't grow up till the 1970s (didn't really appreciate much music when I was three in 1970), but love this sort of music a lot more now I'm 57, it's timeless and beats modern music by miles. I've been a rock fan for 44 years now, can't beat rock music. I like other stuff but rock is my fave.
This gentle song played in my head while I wheeled along Black Hawk Trail on my father's Peugeot ten speed. Sunlight strobed through the dogwood trees, flickering in my peripheral vision, making my eyelids twitch. The farmlands around me were green, and it looked like Tuesday. It's the day you want it to be.
Don Bagley Great Comment man, you really painted a picture for us. It's funny how a song and a moment can come together for us and really set a special memory that only ourselves enjoy in our minds.
Don Bagley Love the way you described that scene, it fits so perfectly with the song. When I hear this song I think of green forested mountains and the joy of freedom on a Tuesday afternoon........and the people who get to enjoy both.
Moody Blues, best band ever. Music so beautiful. Saw Justin Hayward a couple of years ago ak Kings Theatre, Portsmouth. He is still as good as ever. Such a talented guy.
The Moody Blues is a true classic band ever Night in white Satin and Tuesday after Noon, is a great classic peace of work guys carry on my brother job we'll done great work bud.
Actually no we didn't. Had we known we were living in the best decade of music we would have savored it and appreciated it much much more. We were just living in the moments. ❤👩🦳
I have such wonderful memories about this song. A dear friend from the USA had sent me this song and I loved it as much as he. After a couple of years a nephew and his friend (teenagers) came to my place. We three we in front of two computers and I played this song. They loved this song and every Saterday, when they were at my place, they asked me to play this song. So I did. After some time they started to sing along with this song. Now I am 71 years young and again I play this song. My friend died a couple of years ago and my nephew is an adult, But in the distance I see two little blond boys singing this song. Thank you Stev that you have sent me this wonderful music.
I know what you mean! I was a '70's child with Disc Jockey as a father! We didn't have much, and moved around alot, but with all the music in my head that I grew up with!! I'm SO glad I grew up in that era!
I'm 64, I've been a fan since 1975, I used to have all their albums on vinyl including a masters copy of Days of Future Passed that was lost in a house fire in 1995 that almost claimed my life, I can still recall and sing along to their lyrics of each of these songs
in twelfth grade my friends and i were housesitting a house that's owner had passed away and the family lived over seas, we used to shut the lights off and play this album front to back in the dark, spinning in office chairs, no parents completely unsupervised. it was the first vinyl my dad ever played for me when i was ten, reminds me of playing with lego on the carpet with my little brother.
The 60's & 70's...what a time. Not a lot of coin in our pockets but amongst friends, we made sure the gang got by. Our collective love and respect for the music of the day...gave us our energy and...and energy sometimes direction. Living in CANADA/N America was key too. 74 now & I'd do it all again...warts and all....just as long as I'm right exactly here, healthy and lots of things to do, with good friends and our MUSIC of the best years.
All the time...I mean, All the Time! I hear this famous tune from their 1967 famous album of excellence: "Days of Future Past", I think of Jan L. of 1972 and our very first time of meeting on the weekend of April 22 and 23 of 1972. Ahh Jan! You made an everlasting impression on me that year. Glad to know you are still around.
My days of dropping acid are long over. But when I did indulge, my friends and I had a set of rules to go by. One of the rules was, if someone is having a meltdown, put on a Moody Blues record to put them at peace. Worked every time.
Can you imagine? An underground coffee shop, people smoking, drinking, talking, moving about and the Moody Blues are playing in the background. Bloody hell...

I'm not sure the audience realized what they were experiencing. It was a studio quality performance of a classic that will endure for many, many years.
@@wayneblanchard4347 The guy who walked out at the beginning of the song had no idea of the greatness taking place.
Sounds like my life in the 60/70s.

54 years ago Where in hell did the time go to. Such great music
Consider this friend, its been 17 years since this has been on UA-cam. Time truly flies.
Me too. And it is great!
where did the time go!!? they could do a song
I am 74 and have loved their music since I first heard Tuesday Afternoon on a dark night drive home from my girlfriend's house. I have every album they have done, my life and thier music are connected. That girlfriend and I have been married 51 years.
Their first album, children's x3, blew me away.
51 years WOW you guys are fantastic God bless man
Wonderful- Godbless 🙏
A time when the audience did nothing but relax keep quiet and really listen and enjoy the great time and music!
no smart phones?"

A rock band with a orchestra.. way ahead of their time
A rock band that IS an orchestra.
Right on
I love the Moody Blues and lots of the Great Prog rock bands of my teen years. There are some more current bands that carry on that kind of quality arrangement. Check out Symphonic Metal. And he is still out there singing, and sounding pretty good!

So sorry for your loss.

May the universe grant peace to you luv.
May you feel peace! Xx
Praying that you get healed in JESUS name ! I love the Moody Blues also. Great band. They don’t make music like this anymore.
Wow! I just turned 68 years young and still experiencing this beautiful music. ✌️
Pinder's keyboard addition is outstanding
Words have not been created that can fully describe the genuis of the MB
RIP Mike Pinder keyboard player, thank you for the music.
The Moody Blues always had a majestic quality to their music that was unsurpassed.
hell yes 123 .....well said !!
It was definitely different than other "rock" bands at the time.
this was one of the best rock bands of that time.. lol
@@DennisDolan-fl3mw
Majestic; yep
the feelings and the blending of the sounds
This is REAL music!
RIP Mike Pinder. You changed my life forever and brought me great happiness
tuesday afternoon-forever afternoon-----its a slice of heaven here

My favorite Moody Blues tune
I can listen to the moody blues all night. Timeless. I get so caught up in their music. Magical
I was eleven years old when this came out. Great music. I miss the seventies.
I'm in my 70s now but I've never stopped loving ❤ this song
I was in High School when I first heard it from the album Days of future past.
I´m 67 years old and grow up with this beautiful music, I´m very grateful for that...
Same here Brother, peace and positive vibes to you!
I concur!
Indeed....since 1965 from. me...
Me too. 👋
Me too! Turned 68 on Easter Sunday! MB's have always been the _hippest_ rock artists to always display exemplary stage presence as _Gentlemen_.
I'm truly grateful.
I never get tired of this song.
The song saved my spirit❤
Man , what a great band . I know these songs but never always appreciated them until later on in life.
Same here my friend...At 60 I feel like I am finally listening to old music for the first time, as it was intended
Welcome to the BEST lol xxx music is such a BIG part of our lives xxxxxx
Lord where did it all go? I feel so old these days. But at least the music sort of brings me back.
Hey I am 62 and I love going back and listening to real music
Same here. But so little of modern, so-called 'rock' compares.
I just heard this old classic on the radio and it immediately transported me back to college. My God, where did all those years go?
Age is only a state of mind. I'm pushin 68 and get up and go to work everyday.
I am 55 and want to be doing that as well. Work gives you a sense of worth.
I love Justin's voice and am convinced that he could have been a huge huge pop star if he had chosen that path. Luckily he didn't. An underappreciated talent.
I saw them in concert in Houston, Texas in 1970 or 71. About the time this video was made. Changed my life in a good way forever.
I saw them live with my Mum. It was the most epic thing I think I've witnessed. Breathtaking.
There's so much to love about this video. I love the smokey venue, the clothes, Justin's puffy shirt, the bell bottomed jeans and this utterly amazing song!
And the bored Parisians puffing their cigs. If this were an American bar, people would be dancing along with the music. 😎
What venue is this!
Nice looking
I especially love the lip-synching
Great post! TY

Off the coast of Nam Moody Blues songs made me feel alive. Took me away from it all.
I had always thought back when Tuesday Afternoon came out that it was the greatest song ever, and my opinion still hasn’t changed today
Happy Birthday Justin Hayward! 75 years ♥
Justin David Hayward (born 14 October 1946) ♥
Remember having all their albums on reel-to-reel and listening for hours--I'm 69 and still love this music--70's were the best!!
The Moody Blues became my refuge during my very traumatic, bleak high school years. I think they were for manyvpther kids, too.
Oh how I miss these days of beautiful songs and music and peace and love!
Super group. I grew up with them too. Love their music. It never gets old after all these years.
One of the best rock & roll songs ever written.
One of my Moody's favourites - highlights Justin's vocals so well
Beautiful composition.

1971 in fact. I am 79 now and still love these guys. Days of Future Past!❤

Fantastic signger and fantastic band! Me and my parents (in their 70's) say the same as the music reminds them their younghood. Thanks and regards!
Moody Blues, best band ever. Music so beautiful. Saw Justin Hayward a couple of years ago ak Kings Theatre, Portsmouth. He is still as good as ever. Such a talented guy.
I am glad I was able to grow up with the Moodies. Bought each of their albums as they came out and still have them all.

"piece of work" - peace, man
It's a work of peace.
The Moody's are among the top bands of all time. Period! Their music is timeless, and so are the lyrics.
Tuesday afternoon and Nights in white satin are my favorite songs, just beautiful music !
Wow intimate setting, and beautiful performance!
Imagine being in such a cozy venue with the Greatest Band Ever Assembled!
I can't.
Paris bar filled with smoke and a bored attitude.
best song of the 60's omg that voice👍 beautyfull
Been a fan since 1970 age 14 !
Incredible music from an incredible band. Glad I grew up with this music.
March 2023, still the best, awaiting The Lord to Free America, such anointed music, we didn't recognize it as such back then, many of us.
these are artists for sure!
645 people are mental. This moment on video with this sound quality is a gem.
This song brings tears to my eyes... it's amazing! Real Music! It cures my ears from the pain of technology tweaked voices..
I consider myself very lucky to see them perform in concert. I had great seats too.
this is not a band... It's deeper then that if you realy listen close and just close your eyes you will see..... love the moody blues
I wonder if the crowd there, looking back now, realize they were witnessing one of the greatest singers ever.
Actually no we didn't. Had we known we were living in the best decade of music we would have savored it and appreciated it much much more. We were just living in the moments. ❤👩🦳

Another great song from my time, nothing better out their.
Love this video.
You can see the seeds of talent springing forth into their destiny of greatness.
One of the most awesome songs EVER in this lifetime!!!!!!!!!!
I never did drugs young. My high was songs like this. They would take you somewhere else. I think they did the drugs for me.

this is AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those very lucky people listening there.
The Moody Blues es un conjunto musical de los años 70, algunas de sus canciones de ellos me encantan.
Moody Blues...always good!!
10 years old when this came out... growing up in a small college town in northern new york... it was on everywhere!
After all these years, My heart still soars, and the tears come.

Great melodies came looking for Justin when he was a mere whelp.
such a gentle song from a gentle soul..Ive loved this song from the first time I heard it back in the early 70s....
I was serving in the army, this music was fantastic for just chilling out. Completed my 20 years,
One of those songs from one of those bands that put out REALLY GREAT STUFF but didn't get the props they deserved.
It's 2022 and I still love this song after more than 50 years....
It's forever Autumn in England. If ever you've backpacked in the UK, you'll know the feel and sound of this beautiful piece of music.
The Moody Blues live at The Tavern , Paris France 1970.
Rick Bruni and this song is totally live- I didn't like how half the show is dubbed - lip synced! Why didn't the entire performance get recorded live?
Thanks. I was wondering where it was.
Real music, awesome.....
I had this playing when my daughter was born..Damn I got good taste n she luvsss the Moody Blues
