This is what's so special to this day about 70's soft rock music. Groups like Ambrosia made amazing cool simple music for all to enjoy. So many groups and solo artists alike created great music back in the day. Another big hit for them was the song Biggest Part Of Me and You're The Only Woman.
There is something about 70s and early 80s easy listening songs that can not be replicated today. There is an authentic sincerity and effortless quality to it.
David Pack’s voice is just beautiful and he is an amazing song writer. I am so blessed to have grown up on music like this from the 70’s and 80’s. Took it for granted that music like this would always be produced but sadly they don’t write music like this anymore. I absolutely loved this band after Queen. I still love getting lost in the memories this music brings back. Thanks for sharing.
It's Am-Bro-Za...three syllables and a soft Z sound. And you're right, the song writing, musicianship, instrumentation, vocal skills and production that were so much a part of the music of the 70s and 80s are lost arts now. It's sad that they don't make music like this anymore and even sadder to know that if they did that it wouldn't get played by the radio stations. But I'm so glad that it exists so that those of us that were around back then can still enjoy it - and so younger generations get to experience the joy of discovering it for the first time.
Another great band! Southern California boys from the South Bay where I grew up. I wish they would have stayed together longer and made more of this awesome music. They have a lot of great songs.
Check out more 70's soft (Yacht) rock Orleans "Dance with me" "Still the one" Sanford Townsend Band "Smoke from a distant fire" Hamilton,Joe Frank and Reynolds "Fallin in love" England Dan John Ford Coley "I'd really love to see you tonight" "Nights are forever without you" "Love is the answer" Bread "Diary" "Aubrey" "Everything i own" Walter Egan "Magnet and steel" Elvin Bishop "Fooled around and fell in love" Firefall "You are the woman" "Just remember i love you" "Strange way" Atlanta Rhythm Section "So into you" "Imaginary lovers" Leo Sayer "When i need you" "You make me feel like dancing" Carly Simon "You're so vain" "Anticipation" James Taylor "Fire and rain" "You've got a friend" "Shower the people" "Your smiling face" Sammy Johns "Chevy Van" Robert John "Sad Eyes" Bob Welch "Ebony Eyes" "Sentimental Lady" Randy Vanwermer "Just when i thought i needed you most" Chicago/Peter Cetera "If you leave me now" "No tell lover" Terry Jacks "Seasons in the sun" Billy Swann "I can help" Eddie Rabbitt/Crystal Gayle "Just you and I" Exile "Kiss you all over" Harry Nilsson "Without You" Eric Carmen "All by myself" "Never gonna fall in love again"
One of my favorite songs of the late 70's and a big hit. Their songs are so strong on words and vocals. Another of their hits were " YOU'RE THE ONLY WOMAN". Another great song from the 70's worth a listen is LOWDOWN by Boz Scaggs.
Facts: Ambrosia are magical. Pack and Puerta [David Pack and Joe Puerta] are, both, spectacular, lead vocalists and all 4 of the core members had great voices (a reason why their harmonies sound so killer!) ...also: Burleigh Drummond (their drummer) is one of the more (unfairly! Ignorantly!) underrated players, ever. This album is, actually, the precursor to their hugest one: One-Eighty (or 180) ...off of which you did one of the major hits: "Biggest Part Of Me". It's their first recording for a new label and their beginning to move away from their progressive rock roots. MOST people only know 2 or 3 songs by Ambrosia (if they recall them, at all!): The 3 big hits for this band were: This song, here ("How Much I Feel") and 2 singles from the One-Eighty album: "Biggest Part Of Me" (which you, already, listened to) and "You're The Only Woman" [All 3 written by: Joe Pack] ...but I think you will find their "non-extra-smooth, "non-"baby-making music" stuff AS interesting. It is equally as cool, in its own right and to many people: even better.) Please check out (from their debut album): "Nice, Nice, Very Nice" (with lyrics taken from and based-on Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.'s novel: Cat's Cradle - He gets a writing credit on the song, for the use of his words, ...Interestingly enough, Vonnegut has inspired a lot of music. Another (more famous) tune, also based on Cat's Cradle, is Joe Satriani's instrumental: "Ice-9" from the classic: Surfing With The Alien [Yes. A Sliver Surfer reference. Absolutely. 😉💙💙💙 🔥🔥🤘🤘]) and "Holding On To Yesterday" -Intriguingly enough, the FOLLOW-up album to One-Eighty was "another 180": A "thematic" (arguably "concept") album, entitled: Road Island ...which was a rock record and, nearly a hard rock record! (But "too late" or "at the wrong time"...) PLEASE listen to the largely unfamiliar, yet superb, opening cut from that: "For Openers (Welcome Home)" [Most fans who only know the 3 hits, or know the 2, first, "progressive" albums, are SHOCKED when they hear it ...But it is KILLER!!!!! 🤘🤘🔥 - Seriously!!: 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥] ...you're, also, gong to want to listen to the last huge hit number rim the Ambrosia catalog: "You're The Only Woman (You & I)" [Often has the "subtitle"/parenthetical left off] ...If you love the 2 you've heard, you will love that one, too. [Also: f.y.i.: The general, common pronunciation of the word that is the band's name is: "am-bro-zzzuh" (with the "i" "slid over" and/or -basically- un-pronounced or un-accented. 👍👍. .... 🤷♂️).] ...due to the band's hit records, they are, often, compared with/classed with other "soft rock stalwarts" from the '70s, such as: Bread (who, do have some similarities, in the pop-arena stuff, with Ambrosia. Bread were, also, very talented songwriters and singers. 👍👍👍👍🔥 ...but, often relegated to "chick band" status (which was a pretty big -and unfair!- insult, back in the day. 😋).) and, maybe: Pablo Cruise [NOT "a guy!" A band!] (who, really are more of a "Michael McDonald-era Doobies-light" ...but had some, smooth, groovy hits, as well [Go listen to: "Love Will Find A Way" [HUGE hit!] and "What'cha Gonna Do" (slightly less "big," but: smooth and funky! 🤘🤘) ...BREAD has too many hits to start naming. ...Just go look them up and pick something from the most-listened-to cuts. 👍👍👊🤘] but, while the hits are somewhere in the same realm, Ambrosia, actually, has a LOT more latitude than those bands I, just, mentioned. (But all of the songs mentioned are very good! 🧡🧡😁)!
Such a great and underrated band. So glad to see some people giving them some love in YT. I'll agree with all those comments suggesting you to do "Holding On To Yesterday" next, especially knowing how much you enjoy bass and vocal harmonies! "You're The Only Woman" is another great Ambrosia tune.
Great song. Interesting thing...these guys are known mostly for this one and a couple of Blue Eyed soul tunes, BUT, they were first and foremost a progressive rock band. Tons of talent
I really think that why the music is so bad today, is the fact that is was all done back in the day. There is literally nothin new under the sound. 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Such an interesting story behind the group and this song. They were a disco band, then they started sharing a venue with some black musicians that exposed and introduced them to funk and soul. When they incorporated those elements into their music, this song was the results.
I had this original vinyl album when it came out. My favorite songs on it besides this one were "Art Beware/Apothecary" and "Ready For Camarillo." I recommend them highly.
Una super canción de lo mejor de los 70s. me recuerda los tiempos de la Secundaria y la verdad siempre pensé por la calidad de la voz del vocalista creí era una persona de color ❤❤ vaya sorpresa que me lleve
Oh my Chod, you are on fire tonight. I loved everyone of the songs you have done. I have been singing and dancing right along with them. Thanks for these wonderful memories.
Saw Ambrosia open for Alice Cooper, of all people, when this was a new and popular song. They must have been on the same record label at the time. They were excellent live.
I get goosebumps sooo freaking amazing! I was so blessed to be a teen in the 70's - graduated 77! rock on! Lmao 🤣 right on the "big families" comment 😂
Music can change your attitude. Music from the 1980's back put you in a positive mood and people were generally happier and got along better than today. Music can bring us together when the message is positive and divide us when the message is negative. A return to the music of the past can help us to love each other and help heal us as humans.
Thank God I was was a teenager in the 70s! To grow up with this music was a blessing. You're so right....this music needs to come back. Loved your reaction!
I was flying from Kansas City to LAX and I was sitting next to a man who turned out to be Burleigh Drummond who is the Drummer for the band Ambrosia. I embarrassed my self by not remembering a single song they recorded. Oh, well.
Someone mentioned in comments wouldn’t it be great to get back to the older music & damn! I’m with her. Most of today’s music just doesn’t inspire me like the earlier music did. 70s being the best imo! 💜
You are so funny and so right! Making out to those songs, you couldn't help it! I have 7 kids myself from 20 to 38! Ambrosia has so many hot songs! Love listening to you, and you don't stop songs and talk! Great channel!!!
Feel good songs.Designed to bring joy to your heart and a smile to your face.Just listen to those harmonies. "I just can't let go", Ambrosia ,backed up by James Ingram R.I.P. and Michael McDonald. "You're the only woman".
My dad is one of 10 kids! I told my grandparents when I was a pre-teen to get a new hobby! I get it now as an adult, but they were having babies from the late 40’s to the late 60’s! My poor gramma being pregnant almost once a year for 20 years! ( She lost a few in between Kids as well).
I wasn't going to subscribe to any more reactions... but I really appreciate your thoughts about the music i grew up with. We knew we had something special but there was so much great music in the 70's (and some of the 80's lol) that perhaps we took it for granted... and then it was gone...only alive in our memories. Your sincere reaction of what we had, is very much appreciated. I look forward to watching your journey through some unbelievable groups of the 70's.
Now that' you're discovering Ambrosia I hope you give their lesson known songs a shot like "Living on my own", "Dancing with myself", and "Holding on to yesterday"
Now you got it!!!!! We are requesting music to give you a platform to keep this music which we help create and group we help create in buying, listening, discussing, promoting, their music and going to their concerts.....ALIVE!!!! In doing that....hopefully there are other rock groups out there that will bring back the vibe of the 60's 70's 80's and 90's.....lol...hahaha....we're hoping.....and all we can do is Hope!!! lol
All you can do is close your eyes and feel the song! The 70s was an amazing decade for music!
Goosebumps are caused by real music touching your soul on a cellular level. This is why my generation were peace loving people.
IT'S THE MUSIC MAN!
42 years later and it still gives me chills.
The 70's was the greatest decade there's ever been in the entire history of music!
True.
You said it!!!!! Every genre in this Era was the best ever!
This was music in all its glory!
Perhaps the saddest verse in song , referring to "sometimes when we make love, I still see your face". Angst and regret are such a difficult things.
You are so right music is not what it was Ambrosia brings back many
Memories!!!!
We were so spoiled with SOOO MUCH great music in the 70s, 80s and 90s! You’re right...we gotta get back to this somehow!
This is what's so special to this day about 70's soft rock music. Groups like Ambrosia made amazing cool simple music for all to enjoy. So many groups and solo artists alike created great music back in the day. Another big hit for them was the song Biggest Part Of Me and You're The Only Woman.

"Holding on to Yesterday" will float you along a journey
You are 100% right , music like this doesn't exist anymore. So glad we had the 70s music
We were so blessed to be able to listen to this kind of music back in the 60s and 70s. So much great music.
"I will no longer question why families were so big back then." LOL! That one got me, thanks man!
David Pack’s voice is just beautiful and he is an amazing song writer. I am so blessed to have grown up on music like this from the 70’s and 80’s. Took it for granted that music like this would always be produced but sadly they don’t write music like this anymore. I absolutely loved this band after Queen. One of the greatest white soul singing groups of all time, their poppy soulful sound is to be admired by all. Great Musicians also.
HOLDING ON TO YESTERDAY in the penultimate Ambrosia tune. Everything comes after.
We had the best music in the 70s! It was a party!
Chad… you being a drummer will appreciate the bridge in 7/4 time. Brilliant. The lead vocal and harmonies were perfectly performed.
It's Am-Bro-Za...three syllables and a soft Z sound. And you're right, the song writing, musicianship, instrumentation, vocal skills and production that were so much a part of the music of the 70s and 80s are lost arts now. Holding on to Yesterday is FIRE too!
Where is the talent, soul, feeling today??? Come on humans!!! Get it together with some soul and LOVE!!! 💕💕❤️❤️👽👽👽🛸🛸🛸🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍🧡❣️💙🤍

Thank you for doing my very favorite AMBROSIA 💕 ❤ 💗
Player-Baby come back has to be coming up.It goes right with music like Ambrosia’s
So does "Ace - How Long" if anyone even mentioned it
Us old timers would never let the music die,.. has Johnny Rivers sings we will always. SLOW DANCING SWAYING TO THE MUSIC
I love that song! and all songs by Paul Davis.
It's up to your generation to preserve the classics and make more!
You need to see the video. They are slaying this song.
Ambrosia cut "You're The Woman" is great to. Blue eyed soul at its best.
1960's and 1970's music rule.....vocals, keyboards, bass line....layered by harmonies....beautiful.
On top of great songs back in the day we only had three T.V. stations and NO INTERNET!!! 😎
Ambrosia was way underrated SO good.
Not just the singing...but those lyrics !!
This song was ALL OVER the radio then. I was a little kid, but always loved this group.
You're killing me with this. The memories all come flooding back. Luv it 💓 💖 thank you. Need to hear Sara Smile. Hall and Oates please.
His singing and the harmonies give me chills!
The inimitable David Pack on vocals. Unreal!
Another great band! Southern California boys from the South Bay where I grew up. I wish they would have stayed together longer and made more of this awesome music. They have a lot of great songs.
Holding On To Yesterday by these guys is a really good one.
Hold On by Kansas is a good one also

Nah, society today has no class, this wouldn't fly today.
Hope that’s not true & we can have some revival soon…..maybe the 2030s? 🤷♀️
You’ll love Firefall-Just remember I love you and You are the woman. They sound a lot like Ambrosia
And Firefall - Cinderella!
Fireball - it doesn’t matter!!!!
Such an interesting story behind the group and this song. They were a disco band, then they started sharing a venue with some black musicians that exposed and introduced them to funk and soul. When they incorporated those elements into their music, this song was the results.
Holding on to yesterday must be next!!
Love these love songs from the 70s and 80s..
At the Roller Dome....Skating to the music i grew up to in my mind!!! listening to these songs.
This is DNA for me and so many other bands of the 70’s happy to see you appreciate it.
You have covered so much music. And there is so much more to listen to. You are almost at 10K. Congratulations!

Now you know why the 70's singers, songs and song writers were the best ever......and why it's so hard to listen to modern music today!
Swee Soft Rock music. When songs had meaning soulful too
Oh my Chod, you are on fire tonight. I loved everyone of the songs you have done. I have been singing and dancing right along with them. Thanks for these wonderful memories.

Love your reactions. True and heartfelt. Your obvious love for music shows and you have a great smile
funny analogy about big families - it definitely makes sense. hey i was 25 when this came out in '78 so i remember !
My favorite from ambrosia is "holdin' on to yesterday", incredible.

I was 14 when this came out...sure makes me homesick for my youth😔
Love Ambrosia one of my favs
Ambrosia- means Nectar, of the Gods, in Greek mythology☺ and they were! A very talented band, one of my favorites☺

Great reaction!!!
Thank you so much for saying this is real music, unlike what’s playing today.

Yeah, these guys were good. A different sort of song from them and perhaps my favorite, it’s more upbeat, is “Life beyond LA.“
Awesome baby makin music for sho.. YOU'RE THE BIGGEST PART OF ME , You have to hear that one if you haven't already and BABY COME BACK by PLAYER
You are so funny! Have to agree with everything you said. Ambrosia were amazing!
I prefer their earlier music but this is a cool song. Their production was always first class. You must hear ‘Holding On To Yesterday’
Rod Stewarts’s Tonight’s the night brought a lot of little humans in the world...lol.
I really love your reaction and I believe your thinking is right on. Great song love it.
So so smooth.

Y’all giving this man straight bangers
Ease the man into the gold folks
