Never a pretty boy band, heart throb group, hair band, romantic leads, crooners, shredders, none of the above. Just American men playing like they are possessed, holding the truth in their hands.....are we not men? It's a beautiful world, so whip it! Whip it good....uncontrollable urge. Mothersbaugh- Casale & Co. Give these guys the Medal of Freedom. Do it NOW.
I was at this show in Phoenix and was ultra-excited to see Devo for the first time. The Ramones played before Devo, and the show was shut down for about 2 hours because of a dust storm. Devo came on, and most of the people didn't know who they were, and t made it easy to get relatively close to the stage. It was a very hot day with no shade anywhere. The main stage lineup went: Rancid, The Ramones, Devo, Soundgarden, Metallica. All bands put on a great show although the Ramones' set was cut short because of the aforementioned dust storm. Of note, during the Soundgarden song "Black Hole Sun", done solo by the singer, there was a lightening storm behind the stage, and it was surreal. Thanks for posting this song.
I saw DEVO at Lolla '95 in Pittsburgh, when I was 14. Went for Sonic Youth and Hole mainly, but by the time DEVO got through a few songs, my friends and I, along with some metalhead teenagers were having an absolute ball out on the lawn dancing even though we probably hadn't heard more than "Whip It" at the time. They put on an awesome show. By the end we were yelling "HELL NO! WE WON'T GO! UNTIL WE GET MORE DE-VO!"
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeyeyeyeyeah; one of my first vinyl-records; i love this LP. This performence so DEVO-cool. How old is this group? 47years? unbelivible.
I love this part! The tri-lams win the Greek contest with this! Missing the rap by Lamar Latrell but otherwise spot on. Lambda Lambda Lambda and...Omega Mu!!! We here on stage tonight to do our rhyme for you!! We go Booger Presley on the mean guitar and a lil ol rap by me Lamar.
_this song will never stop kicking ass_ some space aliens are going to die in a great galactic war to precisely this tune, if they haven't already -imagine if they had been checking us out, loving the song and even thinking... "are these dudes making fun of us? Do... do they know we're here? bruh this space weed is lit"-
can you not detect this led Zeppelin song Misty mountain hop turned into the coolest zep riff turned a bit of stones and lil b52s with Rob plant singing like Devo catch my drift ???
Nonsense. How many bands in the metal, grunge, and alternative genres made a remake of a DEVO track. Face it these dudes had balls. True pioneers that back in 73 created the first non R& B based alternative music, in their journey to having created genres years before those genres would be heard on the radio. This is true beginning of alternative right here.
The ultimate, eternal, and inevitable pride of Akron/Kent, Ohio.
The single most underrated American band of all-time.
@@jms1963 Booji agrees with you!
One of the greatest bands ever!
Watching this gives me satisfaction.
Hahaha I see what you did there, cause I can't Get No Satisfaction is the next song on the Anthology cd

.....and who is the kid drumming?! He's a star!
Booji believes you downloaded his exact thoughts. . . Booji loves loves loves Devo!
@@franzkafka77 Alan Myers. They called him "the human metronome" because his beats and drumming were always perfection.
@@jms1963 No, it's not Alan Myers (he left the band around '86). Here it's Josh Freese (David Kendrick's replacement).

Is that Josh Freese on drums?
Slower than normal tempo. But still a great song.
Devo played the version Rob sings on ,,,dont be a blockhead.
They need to add cocaine to this version to speed it up!
man mark aged p fast.. still cute tho
Robs version is better, but I like devos version too
They only recorded the yeah yeah,,,, part, how is it better.
Plus DEVO are the musicians on that version, how is it better.?

This band hasn't been relevant since '82
