YES IT'S ANOTHER SEARS KENMORE 158 series sewing machine DEMO VIDEO

Sears Kenmore 158 series free arm sewing machine. Just went through the machine cleaned adjusted and lubricated it. It is a Made in Japan model the 158.15251 and has the one amp motor with the dual belt drive which is sort of a gear reduction which gives it more low speed control. This machine uses class 15 bobbins and size 11-18 needles for light materials, and heavier items such as denim and lite leathers - marine vinyl.

I am on the search for exhaustive list of all metal gear 158’s with additional cam patterns(30 or more), embroidery, and button hole attachment options.
I am on the trail of the 158.1914 series. If I am not mistaken, I think they made the 1914, 19141, and 19142. Do these 3 have all metal gears?
I know they all take cam patterns. Would like to know if I am on the right track.

Trying to do buttons on a 158.16250. Turning the lever down for the feed dogs doesn't do anything, they still operate. Am I missing something?

lubricate the pin in bottom of machine and gently push them down.

I just got one of these machines. It sews beautifully, but only in reverse. I cannot make it sew in forward. Any ideas?

Yes. It’s stuck, probably with old oil that has hardened. Open it up and clean the old hard oil out and put fresh oil on. There are how-to videos on UA-cam.
