@Rebel Fleur, Most welcome and thank you so much for your words, appreciate it :-) Black spots going all up the stems and onto the leaves a little bit - Sorry to say, not a good sign but no need to worry too much. Please cut back on watering and provide as much air flow to the plant as possible and also very bright light. Happens when we move a plant from bright place to darker space and water more. If possible, plz try to provide the plant same environment (mainly light) like it was getting in Garden center. Your plant is going to take some days to adjust in new environment but eventually it would. Till, then only proper watering and light is needed. Hope that helps, thank you :-)

I keep my areca palm in my bedroom beside my window. It gets morning light and evening light. But other times, it gets bright indirect sunlight. Will it grow?
Thank you for explaining why my tips are brown. I didnt realize i was overwatering it. However my little palm is still growing so slow. How old is the plant in your video?
@SingingCrowie, You are most welcome and thank you so much for watching :-) Well, you really don't have to worry too much...as Palms always take time to grow :-) In wild, they grow really very fast, but NOT in containers and in indoor. My plant was 1.5 years old..and believe me, even after 2.5 years (considering current time), there is not a great change in terms of growing comparing to plants that are grown outdoor. But still, they are one of the best indoor plants to grow that don't need too much care like Calatheas. Happy Gardening :-)
My areca palm has only 1 healthy leaf left.. can I make it bushy by any chance?!! it is an indoor plant at my home.. I was watering it every 15 days after the soil dried up.. would get sufficient sunlight like the one u showed.. but then lost all the leaves gradually and now left with one.. I would fertilize 15-20 days with either dap or organic Compost.. any help?
I haven’t been getting much sunlight through my window due to the overcast we have been having for like a month. Hopefully it clears so my palm can get some sun!
Thanks so much for this video. I use a moisture meter to check the soil moisture level but I am not sure when I should water - should I wait until the meter is in Dry-red zone or before that?
Water in 12-15 days , no direct sunlight,, water only soil is dry, fertilizer 10-12 DAP DI AMONIUM POSPHATE crystal ls or 50-70 gm vermi compost once in 60 days
Just got one of these plants from a store a week ago. It was in okay condition but when I took it home I noticed browning on some of the stems. Now (a week later) the browning is spreading. Pls help because I can’t find anything about this on google?? It’s just the stem, the leaves are doing fine
Could you give me a estimated measurement of how much water to give the plant every watering? bc I’ve read that under and overwatering can lead to brown leaves so I’m not sure whether I’m under watering or overwatering thank you!
Our Majesty palm was growing nicely for about a year, about 2 months ago we saw a new spear was coming up and it was growing as normal, then it just stopped growing and the edges of the leafs are turning yellow and brown. We transplanted it in to a new and bigger pot and gave it fresh soil with fertilizer, but nothing has changed ...we water it every week and we mist the leaves weekly as well..nothing is working, i dont know if its dead or not?
@Google Reviewer, All palms usually take time to grow well, specially whenever we keep them indoor in pots. In wild, they grow quite fast. 2 months is bit early to see rapid growth and since you have provided it fresh soil, it would be doing well in coming days. No worry, it's definitely not dead. The lack of bright light could be the cause of the edges of the leafs are turning yellow and brown. Also, since you have provided it a bigger pot, please check whether it needs water once a week or not. Please let the top soil dry out completely before watering.... Anyway, to my knowledge, Majesty palm doesn't do that great whenever we grow them indoor. Instead of this, you can consider Areca palm (Also known as the bamboo palm), Rhapis palm, Parlor palm etc. Good luck :-)
My areca palm has closed leaves.. I have no idea what to do! I may be watering it more than once in 2 weeks but i don't see anybody giving the results i am seeing on my plant.. They are really closed like a leaf which is about to spread out but IT STAYS IN THAT SAME POSITION! Please advice me something!
@Rabeea Jamil, In case of under-watering, the leaves start to droop and from your case, it doesn't like that you are under-watering your plant. Can you please let me know if your plant is getting enough bright light? Haven't seen such issue with Areca Palm yet and some pics would be helpful. If you like, you can contact me via Insta - instagram.com/gardeningupbeat/ Thank you :-)
thanks for the video...very very helpful. i have a robellini palm (pygmy date palm). do you know why the tips are brown and crusty? I do water regularly and deeply, using a moisture meter, it received direct sun in the morning for 2 hours and then it's mostly shade. I did add slow release fertilizer 8-2-12 couple weeks back. Any suggestions on brown tips? should i bring my plant indoor? should i give it liquid fertilizer in addition to the shake n feed? the leaves get brown n crispy and then break off.
@nandini pattnaik, Sorry, it was one of my old video and that time I use BG music unnecessarily :-( Now a days, I don't. Anyway, it's DAP - Di-ammonium phosphate and you would get it easily in any nursery, local fertilizer store or online. Thank you :-)
@Pratiksha pushp Bhatia, Thank you for your words, appreciate it. Your plant would grow well as it's the growing season. Plz turn the soil a bit and apply fertilizer. Brown tips is too common in most of the Houseplants it happens either because of Over-watering or Under-watering. If you are getting this one few leaves, it's okay and no need to worry too much. Just be careful while watering and avoid keeping the soil wet. I water my plant once in 5-7 days and sometime I wait for even more days...One request - I would appreciate if you don't call me Sir, thank you :-)

My areca plant is healthy. After purchasing from nursery around 4 months back i reported it in new pot (8"). But there is no new growth. I kept it in window so it get evening sunlight. What should i do ?
@Manish Luhana, thank you for your question. It would grow, no worry :-) Whenever we grow Areca palm in container, it takes bit more time to grow. They actually grow bit faster from around Spring. Just keep taking care of it and it would grow. Plz be careful not to overwater and you can fertilize your plant on a regular basis (though, it's okay even if we don't fertilize in Winter season). Plz let me know if you have any questions and I would get back to you ASAP! Thank you once again :-)
@Sawsan alkooheji, sure, you can do that. Anyway, it's always a good idea to shower our indoor plants sometimes (not recommended for all plants though). Thank you very much for watching the video and plz let me know if you have any questions.
Hi, I have my Areca palm and the leaves are yellowing and I had it in a good place where she don’t receive the direct sun and I tried to put water when the dirt is dry but I don’t know why is yellowing! Please help me!
@Gladis Quintanilla, If few leaves are turning yellow, it's okay and no need to worry. It's the growing time and if your plant is not growing and most of the leaves are turning yellow, then there is a problem. Please make sure the pot has a drainage hole and water should drain out well after watering. Whenever you water, water thoroughly so that soil gets a good soaking. Either you are watering too frequently and not watering enough. You can simply dig the soil (4-6 inch deep) and see which one is going wrong. So, next time whenever you water your plant, wait for 4-5 days after watering and then check the soil. If it's wet, means you are watering too frequently. If it's dry, you are not providing your plant enough water. Hope that helps, thank you :-)
@Ashoka Sp, thank you very much for the feedback, appreciate it. One pic or some info about the plant would have been much better to provide the accurate solution. Anyway, to revive your plant, I would recommend you to repot it once using completely fresh soil. While repotting, plz get rid of the old soil as much as possible. Areca palms are hardy plant and I believe, the plant is in the same pot from many days (minimum 1 year). Plz let me know if there is anyway I can help and I would get back ASAP! Thank you!
@@shivabhakth07 , Plz send me an email at gardeningupbeat[at]gmail.com and I would get back to you ASAP (Plz replace the [at] with @). You got your plant on June, not so long ago..so, we definitely can revive the plant. But please also let me know whether you have repotted the plant or it's in the same pot (the pot whatever the nursery people provided). If repotted, plz let me know few details like - 1. Type of potting soil mix you have used 2. Amount of sunlight it's getting (whether direct or indirect n for how many hours) 3. If you have fertilized your plant recently. 4. Have you applied any pesticide recently, like chemical one? Anyway, plz let me know all the details and I would try my best to give you the proper solutions. Thank you :-)
@shivangi agarwal, Very solution no 1 - take 1 teaspoon detergent in 1 liter water and spray the plant. 2 - You can use Neem oil - Dose - 5-6 ml neem oil + 4 ml light hand wash (like savlon) and mix them in 1 liter water. Spray the plant once or twice and all mealybugs would be gone under 48 hours. Thank you :-)

My areca plant is getting dull day by day.few days ago i bought a tall areca palm tree but now its looking dull n down in comparison to d time when i bought it home.why is this so?what can i do to bring it lively again?plz answer my question asap.🙏
Hii.. I had rescued an Areca from the outdoor environment that was going brown from its tips. Since it was huge in size and deep in the rooting system. I had cut the stem from the bottom of the mother plant. Now the problem is: browning is increasing. I have repotted it with a pebble base followed by an inch of sand and mix of soil (dry + moist)... The previous pot in which I kept the plant for a week was holding up water and making a clayey deposit of soil. THESE ARECAS DO NOT HAVE ROOTS. I could not reach it while cutting. I really want to save them. Please help. As everything is closed right now...I am unable to get cow dung compost. P.S. It is a 80cm tall areca in 17cm pot A quick reply can help me save a lot! Thanks!!
@Tazyeen Alam, At the time of dividing from the mother plant, we should take out it with few roots at least and that way, they can regrow quite fast. I can understand, you couldn't reach there. Since you have already repotted the plant, there is nothing much you can do actually. We would need to wait for some days and hope it starts growing. Till then, please don't keep it under direct sun and water very very carefully. Water requirements would be very low as it doesn't have roots. Please also make sure that, new pot has at least one drainage hole so that water can drain well. Anyway, no worry and hopefully the plant starts to grow. Size of the new pot is fine, good luck :-)
@@GardeningUpbeat Thanks a lot for replying... The leaves have started turning brown... The soil is somewhat dry. But i will not give it water as I think it doesn't need much. Even when I do, I will just sprinkle some.. Such that it reaches the base of the plant (not the pot). If you think of anything else. Do let me know. 😊
@Tazyeen Alam, Most welcome and that's perfect! You can keep doing that and once you see some movement, you can increase watering level and move your plant to a more bright area or provide it 1-2 hours of direct morning sunlight. It would grow fast, thank you 😊😊😊😊

Hello, unfortunately i gave my areaca palm extra water i saw the leaves are turning brown from the tip and few leaves are drying??? What to do now?? Pls help
@Yana Tyagi, Oh, sorry to know that but don't worry, Areca palm is hardy and it won't die. Just avoid watering before you see that top soil is drying. It would let you know when it needs water simply drooping it's leaves. In the meantime, you can keep the plant where there is a good airflow. This would help in drying out the soil faster. Good Luck :-)
@Chade Marshall, Sorry for that, it happened because of the BG music and I don't use any BG music in my new videos. The name of the Crystal is - DAP (Diammonium Phosphate). Thank you :-)
Hi! I rescued and am trying to save an Areca palm I found on the sidewalk abandoned. I found it had spider mites which I think I got rid of but I left it in direct sun once and I realized that was very bad. Now all the leaves are “burnt” do you have any advice? Is there a way I can send you a picture too? I want to make sure it’s actually an Areca palm 😂 thank you! 🙏🏼
@Priyanka rocks, Brown spot is the common sign of Overwatering..anyway, if you are able to spot only few and overall plant looks healthy, you don't have to worry too much :-) White spot - look like your plant is under pest attack like either Scale or Mealybugs. Please look closely and see if you can spot them. IF yes, plz use pesticide. Hydrogen peroxide is used totally for other purpose - it provides more oxygen to the roots in the soil. Though many claim, it can be use as pesticide but I prefer to use Pesticide for any pest related issue. Thank you :-)
Really...I must appreciate
your Areca palm looks very nice

Please cut back on watering and provide as much air flow to the plant as possible and also very bright light. Happens when we move a plant from bright place to darker space and water more. If possible, plz try to provide the plant same environment (mainly light) like it was getting in Garden center. Your plant is going to take some days to adjust in new environment but eventually it would. Till, then only proper watering and light is needed. Hope that helps, thank you :-)
Helpful video thanks
What is the kristals you putting
DAP (Di-ammonium Phosphate) Thank you 😊
Genuinely nice informative video
@nandita choudhury, thank you so so much, truly appreciate it. Really glad to know you found it useful, thanks again :-)
Hi ok need some help pls tell after I have reported a plant then when to water next as I cen see the soil wet everytime I see the plant.
@NNP, You would like to wait for few more days...If you have used a bigger pot, it would take many days as Areca Palm doesn't need too much water. My plant is inside and I water it once in 7-10 days. In winter, even more gap. Thank you :-)
What should be the pot size if the plant is in 6 inch nursery bag..?
@Kavita Sonawane, 8-10 inch would be good enough, good luck :-)
Thank you for fast response
Hello sir mere arica palm more then more marte ja raha he plz give me solution

Very good video.
@Naana Amonoo, Thank you So So much :-)
What to do when palm grows very large in pot and has thick stems?
Good vid thank you.. I have a tiny baby palm.. repotted it with organic soil and worm castings.. hope it grows nice and happy
Hello... There are black seed like things fallen all around the floor, from my areca palm daily. What are these? Can anyone help please?
Those should be the seeds itself..at this time, they produce seeds (matured plant) One of my plant which I am growing in ground, has also produced seeds.
Will areca palm grow new shoots after sometimes?? I just got this from a nursery but am curious if it will produce new shoots so tat I will have more stems
Please do a video on betel leaf plant
Wat is the size of pot ?
Just got one a couple weeks ago. I need to repot it. The kid at the end made me laugh💗
@ilovepink86, Thank you SOOOOOOOO much and good luck in repotting your plant :-)
Sorry what crystals you mentioned? Thanks for the video its really helpful.
DAP (diammonium phosphate) crystals
I keep my areca palm in my bedroom beside my window. It gets morning light and evening light. But other times, it gets bright indirect sunlight. Will it grow?
Areca palm leaves hanging down. How can we make them.straight upward
I would fertilize 15-20 days with either dap or organic Compost.. any help?
My areca plam plant leaves is green and drying....i put plam near window where it only get light...it's been just one month ago I bought that plant
What is ap crystal or DP crystal.where do u get it?
U explain very well. Thanks for sharing 👍
I haven’t been getting much sunlight through my window due to the overcast we have been having for like a month. Hopefully it clears so my palm can get some sun!
Bonjour ! Nice info ! How do you save a palm that was over fertilized ( 6 months old ) and turning grey and brown ?
Thanks so much for this video. I use a moisture meter to check the soil moisture level but I am not sure when I should water - should I wait until the meter is in Dry-red zone or before that?
Before 3, right at the edge of dry and moist.
@@tdoublejr thank you!!
Water in 12-15 days , no direct sunlight,, water only soil is dry, fertilizer 10-12 DAP DI AMONIUM POSPHATE crystal ls or 50-70 gm vermi compost once in 60 days
Please is it true it brings mosquitoes inside the house? Or what do I have to do to wade off insects from the plant?
Great video. Question: What are the crystals you mentioned?
DAP (diammonium phosphate) crystals
Sorry I didn’t get what is the fertiliser that you’re using?
@Daya4ramm, Sorry for that...it's DAP (Diammonium Phosphate). Thank you for watching the video :-)

Thanks for your response.
Just got one of these plants from a store a week ago. It was in okay condition but when I took it home I noticed browning on some of the stems. Now (a week later) the browning is spreading. Pls help because I can’t find anything about this on google?? It’s just the stem, the leaves are doing fine
Could you give me a estimated measurement of how much water to give the plant every watering? bc I’ve read that under and overwatering can lead to brown leaves so I’m not sure whether I’m under watering or overwatering thank you!
like half a litre
Water the plant thoroughly till the water starts draining out of the drainage holes.
If you like, you can contact me via Insta - instagram.com/gardeningupbeat/ Thank you :-)
Thank you so much, i will send you some pictures
thanks for the video...very very helpful. i have a robellini palm (pygmy date palm). do you know why the tips are brown and crusty? I do water regularly and deeply, using a moisture meter, it received direct sun in the morning for 2 hours and then it's mostly shade. I did add slow release fertilizer 8-2-12 couple weeks back. Any suggestions on brown tips? should i bring my plant indoor? should i give it liquid fertilizer in addition to the shake n feed? the leaves get brown n crispy and then break off.
Could u spell out the name of the fertilizer? Din understand clearly
@nandini pattnaik, Sorry, it was one of my old video and that time I use BG music unnecessarily :-( Now a days, I don't. Anyway, it's DAP - Di-ammonium phosphate and you would get it easily in any nursery, local fertilizer store or online. Thank you :-)
Sir your areca palm is very beautiful my areca palm is not growing more and its leaves ends become brown please suggest what to do
@Pratiksha pushp Bhatia, Thank you for your words, appreciate it. I water my plant once in 5-7 days and sometime I wait for even more days...One request - I would appreciate if you don't call me Sir, thank you :-)
Mere areca palm mei sirf root Baal h sari pattoya root rot se Karab ho gayi ..kya ye alive h dubra grow ho Sakta h ?
@learning Add in me, Sorry to say, but chance bahat kam hai...phir bhi bachana chahte hai to, kharab roots ko cut karna hoga aur thoda fresh soil me lagana hoga...
Please can you tell me how to kill those centipedes ( kankhujariya ) / ( gom ) inside the soil...
I hate them ...
Please tell me the solution,
One Gardner told me to use Vinegar , but the centipedes are too much and having many small ones too!!
How can I keep that pot indoor?
I bought areca palm from nursery and the tip of the leaf are yellow
they keep it outside and this video was helpful thanks
@Coimbatore AAC, Glad to know it was helpful...thank you for watching :-)
The leaves of my plant are turning yellow. Should I cut it? Or should i wait it out? Will it turn green again?
No Cutt’m
Cut them
What should i do sir my palm tree is dying due to over watering...sin 10 day i stopped watering..now new leaves are coming..but i dont know whats should i do with old brown leaves..plz guide me
Helpful. One questions. how to trim off the brown leaves. Where should it be trimmed at the stalk of the leaves? I wasn't sure I tried and hopefully it will help my palm. Also Thank you for the fertilizing or feeding instruction.
Sir mera palm k pate blkl yeh hogy h ...over watering ki waja se..ab us m new pate arahe h..plz guide kr den kiya krn
Hello I read that areca palm love humidity, so do you think it's a good idea to spray it ?
@Sawsan alkooheji, sure, you can do that. Anyway, it's always a good idea to shower our indoor plants sometimes (not recommended for all plants though). Thank you very much for watching the video and plz let me know if you have any questions.
thank you very much for the quick reply, your video is very informative, keep going
Please tell ferlizer name once again
I want my plants to be dense like yours. It has grown so tall. What measures should be adopted to make it short and bushy. Plz help me out.
My areca palm has brown tips and black spots. And it is place in TV lounge and sun light come in lounge but not on plant. Why black spot on leaves.
Hope that helps, thank you :-)
Thanks for the informative video ..
I hv a question though.how to review the so not healthy looking areca palm? Pls advice tq in advance
Thank you!
@@GardeningUpbeatpls inform how to send the pic..i will send for sure....just on june i got her frm nursery
Thank you :-)
Please suggest the control of mealy bugs in areca palm
@shivangi agarwal, Very solution no 1 - take 1 teaspoon detergent in 1 liter water and spray the plant. 2 - You can use Neem oil - Dose - 5-6 ml neem oil + 4 ml light hand wash (like savlon) and mix them in 1 liter water. Spray the plant once or twice and all mealybugs would be gone under 48 hours. Thank you :-)
No wonder my plant keep dying and have yellow tips, it is because of the watering. I thought of watering in alternate days will be good, turn out im overwatering it. Tq for the info. Will start to water it in 5-7 days
P.S. It is a 80cm tall areca in 17cm pot
A quick reply can help me save a lot!
It would grow fast, thank you 😊😊😊😊
Very nice Video. Very informative. Thank you very much. Whenever I try to plant a money plant cutting it dies but it grows well in water. Can you please do a video on planting money plants in pots?
@Nandini Sridharr, Thank you so much for the feedback, much appreciated :-) Sure, I would be glad to do a video about growing Money plant in pots and it's already in my list to do videos. Thank you once again wishing you and your family a Very Very Happy New Year :-)
Hello, unfortunately i gave my areaca palm extra water i saw the leaves are turning brown from the tip and few leaves are drying??? What to do now?? Pls help
@Yana Tyagi, Oh, sorry to know that but don't worry, Areca palm is hardy and it won't die. Just avoid watering before you see that top soil is drying. It would let you know when it needs water simply drooping it's leaves. In the meantime, you can keep the plant where there is a good airflow. This would help in drying out the soil faster. Good Luck :-)
Thanks a lot...
Where can i get dap crystals?
@Monalisha Dutta, You would get it in any local fertilizer store or online :-) Even you would get it from Nursery as well :-)
Please SHOW us the bay or box the salt comes in. THANK you
What is the Crystal name - sorry i cant really make it out ive replayed so many times
@Chade Marshall, Sorry for that, it happened because of the BG music and I don't use any BG music in my new videos. The name of the Crystal is - DAP (Diammonium Phosphate). Thank you :-)
How to make planter decor pls give video
i have a problem with my arica....there are some brown and white spot on the plant....i have used hydrogen peroxide today....is it work?
@Priyanka rocks, Brown spot is the common sign of Overwatering..anyway, if you are able to spot only few and overall plant looks healthy, you don't have to worry too much :-) White spot - look like your plant is under pest attack like either Scale or Mealybugs. Please look closely and see if you can spot them. IF yes, plz use pesticide. Hydrogen peroxide is used totally for other purpose - it provides more oxygen to the roots in the soil. Though many claim, it can be use as pesticide but I prefer to use Pesticide for any pest related issue. Thank you :-)
Are you from eastern part of India?
Would you please do a video for cat palm?
