Excellent detailed explanation. Thank you. This will help when I report any of my indoors plants. I have a palm a little like yours planted in a rainforest garden outside (Golden Cane Palm) and it could use a tidy up as it's early spring here and has been damaged by the winter cold and winds (Melbourne Australia). I
Really useful, thank you! I've picked up similarly neglected Arecas and was wondering how to go about repotting them without completely freaking them out :)
Thanks for the tips. I've had one for two years that I bought from IKEA. It was infected with something that leaves white castings on it, I think spider mites. Kept it all that time as it's out the way and not infecting other plants but thinking of composting it and getting something else to fill the space
Very detailed and clear instructions, thank you. First time plant mom in South Africa 🌸 Is there an update video on this plant's progress after repotting?
Thanks, it has been dormant for most of the time since repotting as I live in Scotland, but it should start to grow again in April and I will probably make an update video around September once it has had another summer of growth.
Got a question. Just done a root division and got about 3 new plants. I’ve staked them up so they’re more secure and I’m wondering how long it will take the roots to grow so I can take out the stakes?
They are not the fastest growing plants, I would expect you would need to wait two or three months, if they are outside in a windy location you may want to wait a year or so.
I repotted my areca palm this evening, then I watched this video to make sure I did it right. I think I get a solid B+
I'm sure your Areca palm will enjoy its new larger pot.
Thanks so much for this. Just sorted out my poor dried out parlour palm!
Thanks I hope it helped, good luck with your palm.

Very helpful thank you. Do I need to use indoor potting compost?
Ideally yes, you can also use multipurpose compost if you mix in some perlite or orchid bark compost to improve its drainage.
Thank you,!
Ah yes. Landscaping in FL comes to mind.
those dark spots on the stem are from pest/fungus no? Have it as well and treating w neem oil
It's a natural pattern that this type of palm has, it's completely harmless.
@@Gardeningat58N how come it can be scraped off?
How often do we water? And should we use fertilizer?
I bought 4 arica palms from nursery.. They are in black polythene.. When should I repot them in pots? After how many days. Please reply
My areca has baby leaves that are suuuper pale and weak. What does it mean? Do I cut those off? :(
What sort of time of year is best to repot an areca palm?
Spring is the best time of year.
