Hey Marc. I’m Gabriella and I played Ripley in Alien the Play. I’ll never forget your kindness and the hope you instilled in us that day! I still have my Space Command pin. Thank you so much for visiting us and thank you so SO MUCH for reuploading this!
I gotta say.. when I saw the video where you and the cast of Alien: The Play met the one and only Ellen Ripley, Sigourney Weaver, I known that your experience of bringing Alien to life was amazing. I know everyone in 20th Century Fox/Studios, Ridley Scott, James Cameron, and Sigourney will never forget the play. Hope Alien: The Play comes to schools worldwide one day! You truly were amazing.
I heard.about this legendary play...what you guys pulled off here was absolutely fantastic!!!!! This should be included in the next collectors edition of the movie!
This is the BEST High School Play EVER!!!! When you get Sigourney Weaver to fly out there to watch in person and FOX gives permission for a 3rd Encore; You have something SPECIAL!!! Well Done!
They need to put this on Broadway, seriously. Better props, costumes, effects, bigger budget. But these kids did something special. Broadway, take notice!!
I was there and it was an incredible experience. Thanks for sharing this. I was disappointed to see the original video I'd found on UA-cam of the entire play be unavailable. This was such a cool event that only happened once on this scale, so I think it's important to have it available for anybody to be able to see.
I wish I could find a proper version of it, I am late to the game but I am utterly blown away by every single aspect of the play. From top to bottom these kids in the cast and crew and teachers knocked it out of the park. It was incredible to see Sigourney herself show up and have an amazing time. There was some SERIOUS talent on stage and I mean the actors and the direction, lighting, costumes, sets etc ...I mean how they can pulled off the Kane chestburster, space jockey; jumping facehugger, both Ash having his head broken off and the way he is a head on the table...I mean it was so so so well done. And this is all from kids with not much of a budget...doing it for the love of it. This was something really special and I really think teachers like those who set this up should be applauded for their passion.
@@mccarthy5825hi thank you so much for your kind words!! So crazy to see people still caring 4 years later!! I played Ripley in Alien: The Play. Ask me anything you’d like :’)
Wow thank you so much for the reply! Greetings from Dublin 🇮🇪 I am delighted to hear from you! Well first thing is that besides congratulating you again for your incredible performance in the play, I would love to own a piece of your art. Unfortunately I’m saving for a family wedding all the way in Greece in September but after this I would be more than happy to buy an original piece from you. You are a very talented and genuine young lady and honestly, you were spellbinding in the play. I’m not just saying that. You all did so well but when you were doing the tense, quiet scenes later in the play you were magic. If they ever made an adaptation of the scariest game ever, Alien Isolation , you would be the ONLY one who could play Amanda Ripley. Hmmm a question? I just am tickled at the thought of your awesome drama teacher sending you young guys home to watch one of the scariest movies ever as homework! Had you seen the film before? Thank you very much for being so cool Sage! ✌️👍 from 🇮🇪
I can't help but have a proud mom moment for these kids I've never even met. They put on a hell of a show. And kudos to the kids who did the sets and special effects. Actually amazing
What a great post. That you went out there to mentor and encourage, Ridley getting approval for an encore, Sigourney being there, all so uplifting. Such a great thing for these kids, the school and theater. I loved the spacesuit! Bravo!
Back to the ol freezerino! That was just wonderful, amazing and magical. Superb acting and a hell of a lot of fun. 10/10 and bless the high school staff and kids that made this all happen.
This was a fantastic show that the kids put on. Thank you very much for letting us see it. They are our future and have the right stuff. Thank you again it was great.
That was AWESOME!! No words! I am beyond impressed! Every one of you were phenomenal! The effects were great! The acting was great and the Alien looked incredible! Bang up job kids! Cheers to a very bright future for ALL of you!
This was really a great play, outstanding job crew and cast!! So happy that Sigourney Weaver came and celebrated with you guys! Just amazing, I loved it.
Excellent job! Going off of the movie and the final screenplay as a source for a stage play can't be easy, but the students pulled off something that has never been adapted to the stage before. If they ever get to do Aliens, I hope someone's willing to give them a massive budget.
Think of what doors this opens! Sky is the limit. You can literally rewrite how plays are traditionally done. A whole new level of interaction and experience. And with a bigger budget goddamn you can go crazy
This was beyond amazing experience, I was so invested in it as if I was watching it for first time. Absolutely brilliant work, I cannot find words good enough to tell how entertaining, beautiful, passionate, creative and absolutely astonishing this was. Every single one of the crew member pulled off work so astonishing it will be revisited again and again and again, you can be sure. "Game over man, game over!"
As a former North Bergen, New Jeresey resident I was visiting my father when the last stage presentation of this play had its last hurrah. I only learned this from a friend three days after having no idea this was even produced. Kudos to all the students for their boundless creativity and thanks for uploading the video again...
this is inspirational! from the dedication of cast and crew to even thinking this could be done, and that amazingly, Fox (and other bits of Hollywood) allowed it... and that Sigourney Weaver wasn't then represented by some person (like she played in "Be Kind, Rewind") to come in that last moment and shut it all down, lol! thinking on it i wonder how many other "epic" fantasy /horror/science fictions films there are out there, that are essentially a small cast of people populating just a few enclosed set pieces, that make it eminently adaptable to the stage...Given that there are big Broadway productions of things like King Kong and Spiderman. But for small pro-amateur companies and schools with next to no budget to work with... what else could be done with the right talent and ingenuity? "The Thing"? "Night of the Living Dead"? It's easy to play any of these for laughs. It helps compensate for dodgy effects. But to be able to create suspense and horror takes real stage craft, that goes beyond audiences simply comparing any new production (as they would the latest Hollywood remake) to the Original. I take off my hat to anyone with this much bravura and wish them all a fun and creative future. I really wish this production had the foresight to film it from every angle possible (inc. close-ups) and were able to then present their "fanfiction" without wobbly cameras ("down in front to the person with the "hair" that kept getting in frame, lol!!) will anyone else now dare to do their own "Alien" on stage?
Veronica Cartwright was originally put off by Lambert's characterizations in the film, feeling that she was too shell-shocked by the turn of the events. Ridley Scott explained that Lambert was like Cassandra in that she knew exploring the derelict was a BAD idea, but, of course, no one listens to her. "Let's get the hell out of here..."
Veronica was even better in the Invasion of the Body Snatchers remake from the late 70s. I had a crush on Angela when I was a kid. Alien is one of my favorite Sci Fi but I think John Carpenter’s “The Thing” is a scarier Sci Fi and Blade Runner is the best Sci Fi of all. My wife prefers “Aliens” but I think Alien is the better and more suspenseful movie. Yaphet Kotto’s passing was sad. He and Harry Dean Stanton were awesome! “Right”?
I said this in a previous comment on a separate video but I think it could totally work, as long as they didn't go overboard with the number of songs and implemented some dark humor in them. Like the group singing something like "We're gonna be so rich from this discovery" where each member sings what they'll do with the fame and fortune back home or "Thank goodness the totally legitimate company has our backs." which lampoons Weyland-Yutani's blatant disregard and exploitation of it's employees.
My idea for a third alien covenant/prometheus movie is as follows: The engineers are the main characters in the movie and comes to the planet that was in the Prometheus movie. There they find Weyland inside the crashed spaceship. They have a blue elixir which they empty all over him and bring him to life. But while doing this the Deacon from the Prometheus movie sneaks into their spaceship and hide it self in one of the ventilation chambers. In the next part they arrive at the planet from alien covenant and find the other robot(Walter) who is david's twin. The engineers use the blue elixir and repairs him. Once awaken the engineers and Weyland get to know all the horrible things that David has done, and weyland says "we have to stop David" . They set course for origae. When they arrive, they scans all the planet, and finds the planet is full of hostile organisms except on a high mountain where they discover that there are humans inside a cave. Inside the cave they meet a herd of children, who tell that when they had lived on the planet for over ten years, they began to be attacked by Xenomorphs and all the adults died or were turned into these creatures. There were also great giants developed by someone the children calls David. The engineers get ready to wipe out all the Xenomorphs that David has created, but the great giants manage to escape with one of the engineers' spaceships. The engineers and Weyland hunts the spaceship and manage to force the spaceship down on the planet lv426.Where it start sending a distress signal. The engineers return to Origae to find David, but discover that he has escaped. In the last part we see David arriving and meeting an unknown alien species on a tropical like planet. At the same time Nostromo leaves a nearby planet with the cargo of ore. But when he and the unknown aliens have left the spaceship, the deacon slips out of the ship and is seen running toward the nearest settlement. And that makes the cliffhanger that ends the third movie. The ending movie could have a duration about five hours ?
This is great but some of the modern references don’t make a lot of sense. Their acting as if the modern world has never happened or their set way before modern times.

People would spend money to see a professional version of this play. I know I would. Once again, GREAT JOB!!!!!!
the fact that they actually did the director's cut, man so cool
They need to put this on Broadway, seriously. Better props, costumes, effects, bigger budget. But these kids did something special. Broadway, take notice!!

"Alien" was a suspense thriller of the first magnitude. "Aliens" was an action adventure of the first magnitude.
Right.
Even in the play, they never got to talk about the bonus situation :(
Just like the raiders kids!
Who is the bust of right above Rod Serling?
Somebody's big head got in the way
Would have been hilarious though if they also had a version that was a musical. Sorta like the Planet of the Apes musical from the Simpsons pfff

North Bergen NJ High School I believe, if the old title I have is anything to by.

This is great but some of the modern references don’t make a lot of sense. Their acting as if the modern world has never happened or their set way before modern times.
It takes place 100+ years after modern times so it'd make sense if things were different.
Ignoring standard quarantine protocols seems totally plausible
