Hi Johnny, have to say I’m only 23 but have always loved the classics (would love a GT6 myself). In the past week I’ve binge watched both the TR and MG series and loved every minute of them. Was willing the car to start this episode as if it was my own! What I love is your passion for motor cars, you say you’re not the finest mechanic but your desire to get these beauties back on the road is amazing. Keep up the good work! You’ve earned another subscriber and will be back recommending your channel to anyone I know who love cars

Hi LIam, Thats one of the nicest comments Ive ever had. Thank you. I even more impressed by the fact that you binged watched both my series😆
The GT6 is one to watch. Those little cars will shoot up in money right out of the blue. Ive always liked them, theyre like a miniature muscle car.
Thanks for watching, I always appreciate it

@@treetopspider Imagine your first drive on a spring day... I've owned several classics, but neither of them provided the feel of my TR6, it's way too underrated IMO. And although I really love my Pagoda Merc, I still miss my TR6 after 20 years

Well done Johnny you did well it is a very tricky engine to set up especially for a novice

      Hi Paul.
I really had to read up on the subject of TR6 engines. Its now sounding a lot better than it did in this video but its still misfiring slighly. I'm dreading the though that the timing chain may be out a tooth or two

No idea how I missed this one mate…I felt your pain at every step! I remember sticking a South African 2.7 in my E30 late at night and not even knowing if it was ever going to start again! Several trips later to Shepherd Tuning it had settled down..after that it was a beast! But one that needed regular fettling! 😢

For me, this has been the toughest restoration job ever. It put me right off ever wanting to try another one. Thankfully, its now coming together, and I'm now at what I think of as the fun stage of finishing. Carpets have gone down and interior is going in this week. I think I should have it fully finished within a couple of weeks, then I can go and live with some lucky buyer 😁

You need to time the metering unit, then add the distributer after. As you insert the metering drive into the engine, it will turn the rotor so you need to take this into account when positioning the rotor prior to inserting, you need to finish in the position as in your data sheet, the fuel lines nearest you will need to be removed the see the internal rotor, then you can put in and time the distriputer. Good luck. Did my rebuild in the 70's. If you are still unsure and in the south east I'm willing to help you out (retired, loads of time on my hands).

Noel, you sound like a man who knows what he's talking about. Not many people (me especially) havent got a clue when it comes to metering units. I'm pretty sure I did everything right but then I thought I rebuilt the calipers correctly too, so I have to question myself. I would love to take you up on your offer and pay you for it too!!! I'm serious. I was talking with my brother today and told him to find someone that I can sort out the tuning for me. My biggest fear is that when I changed the timing chain, I'm a tooth or two out...

Johnny, can you share more details on the paint you used on the plenum? You did a great job it looks so close to the original finish and I like how you made the Triumph letter pop by painting the white. Have you thought of painting the letters yellow to match the body colour?

Hi Gavin. Look for VHT Wrinkle Plus. You can get it on Amazon. The lettering isn't painted. I wrapped a bit of fine rubbing down paper around a very flat piece of wood then used that to remove the paint from the lettering.i think painting the letters in would be quite tricky
