From the time his name was mentioned Denzel grabbed his beautiful wife Pauletta and just held her tight. Denzel has always said that he would not be there if not for his wife and family who gives him the support that he needs. An amazing team. 👏👑🌹
True. But Denzel had outlasted Eddie and Hanks. He's still churning out hits. Smith and Cruise are the apex of movie stardom, but Denzel makes up for that with his acting chops.
@@PDC1987 These people you mentioned, the studio movies is their selling point. Denzel doesn't need blockbuster movies to get fans to their seats. He is the draw. Not the gimmicks not special effects not over the top action sequences. Just the acting. The old school star quality and star draw.
I am so glad Denzel won the Oscar, but my favorite part of this video is seeing how happy Sidney Poitier is when he hears that he won and sees him walk on stage. Then this moment at the 1:14 mark.
Point is, Denzel's acting in training day was wonderful. He was just so cruel and wicked in it, and it was outstanding. The academy saw it this way too, so he deserved it.
@@Mookaron - Why should he only win playing good guys? He's an ACTOR. His job is portraying characters, good and evil. I don't understand this mentality that black actors should only play good people. How boring is that?
Denzel Washington is the greatest living actor and probably one of the greatest of all time. Here's why. I dont care if it was a cheesy 90s flick like Virtuosity or a classic like Glory with that single tear, he NEVER phones it in. He breathes life into a character that was born on paper. Nothing short of magical.
That movie and award GOATed him forever. You are the best ever, Denzel! Julia said she loves her life because she got to announce that her good friend just won the best actor Oscar. It was an awesome moment for her as well, because she really likes Denzel.
Rest in Peace 🕊️ 🕊️ 🕊️ 🕊️ 🌹🌹🌹🌹 Sidney Poitier (1927-2022). A legend has passed into the ages!!! Star ⭐ of films like Lillies of the Field (1963) & Guess Who's Coming To Dinner (1967) with Spencer Tracy & Katherine Hepburn.
Denzel was a mentor to Chadwick, which he has been to so many younger actors. He must have promised himself that if he ever got to a position where he could help, he would.
Something so warming watching this again, seeing Josh Harnett so young in the crowd and all those actors, when Hollywood still had an air of being the place where the best actors in the world go. How time flies. The 90s and 00s were my favourite times.
i don't see white people complain Daniel Day Lewis got an oscar for playing a corrupt oil tycoon. Just be happy for Denzel, the Oscar was long overdue. I am sure if DiCaprio got an Oscar where his role wasn't really the best one that year, people would still be emotional like Julia Roberts was here, because it was about damn time.
+cpfishfan14 but Denzel had already won an Oscar before this so its not the same thing. And the reason people were ok with Lewis is because its one of the top 5 best performances of all time, Denzel in Training Day was not (despite still being an amazing performacne of course)
An unforgettable night! I still remember it clearly. I was soooooo happy. Btw check out how long he and his wife hugged. Clearly a joint accomplishment. This still warms my heart.
What I love about this man is the focus he puts on getting the right kind of education, on books, and on collaboration. He is given private donations to students across universities, such an honorable man. Mr. Washington, you have no idea how much you inspire kids across borders, and across countries.
This is probably my most favorite Oscar. From, Denzel giving Sydney. A lot of love and they both raise their Oscars held up like a cheers 🥂 and Julia Roberts giving Denzel Washington a big hug at the end such a great moment.
Well that's the thing, or at the least the funny thing with this movie and it's Oscar nominations... ethan hawke, for all intents and purposes, plays the main character in training day... he is the protagonist and in other words has the leading role, I think he does actually have more screen time in the movie as well. Despite this, their nominations are reversed and denzel is nominated for lead and ethan supporting. Now I'm not saying I don't understand why this happened haha or that there aren't speculations to be made, I just always thought it was a bit funny and wanted to point it out.
@@MaddestMousse Simple answer is Denzel is a much bigger name and had a better shot at being nominated as a lead, so the studio campaigned him as a lead. But it is absolutely a supporting performance. I don't have an issue with it. It was like Marlon Brando in The Godfather or Anthony Hopkins in The Silence of the Lambs, it wasn't a lead performance but it was so captivating that it felt like one.
Some of y'all need to stop complaining about denzel getting this Oscar over Russell crowe. denzel deserve this Oscar because they cheated him outta the Oscar for Malcolm x. There are a lot black actors who deserve Oscars but never get nominated or they get cheated out of it. Wesley Snipes, Angela Bassett, Samuel L Jackson are a few who should've gotten one by now
I agree but the academy shouln't based on that for a win. Lorraine Braco did a fantastic job in Goodfellas but lost to Whoopi because they owe her an oscar.
wisestcrazyboy Wow Wesley has done something like 50 films. Surely he should be in the running for one of them. :) White Men Can't Jump was just one of many.
I love Denzel Washington, a premier actor of our time, but Crowe in this movie was an all-time epic performance. I appreciate that Denzel has one on his mantel, he definitely deserves one, but this was not the year he should've gotten it. You don't give payback when another gets shorted. That's not how these awards should be handed out.
I think I read something about Julia saying that because of Denzel, she was able to open up to love and start a family. So I think that when he won, she might be stating that she now “love my life” is due to him. I’m sureDenzel and his wife must knew what she means.

When the most beautiful woman in the world , then, Julia Roberts is crazily happy for Denzel , that shows true love and friendship.
*the mOst beautiful woman in Hollywood is Mo´Nique*
The Man that makes you forget color and all the differences that add up to nothing. A Hollywood Legend!
Art does that also. On a grander were all human leveled scale.
"I'll always be chasing you Sidney"
RIP Sidney Poitier
From the time his name was mentioned Denzel grabbed his beautiful wife Pauletta and just held her tight. Denzel has always said that he would not be there if not for his wife and family who gives him the support that he needs. An amazing team. 👏👑🌹
His performance in training day was speechless ! Hats off 🙏
Denzel Washington acknowledging Sidney Poitier, two of the greatest actors of all times both holding their oscars. It can’t becomes better than this.
I feel like Denzel was the successor to Sidney as Tom Hanks was to Jimmy Stewart.
Julia and Denzel: biggest movie stars of their generation and BFFs. Legends
I'm with you...
Sorry but Will Smith, Tom Cruise, Eddie Murphy and especially Tom Hanks were/are far bigger stars than Denzel. Box office doesn’t lie.
@@YwaA-jf1hl Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise literally took ANY type of film to massive grosses in that era. Please educate yourself.
His acting in The training day was incredible.
Denzel frigging Washington. Total legend. There is no Denzel Washington film I would not watch.
Well said. -bobby balls fan.
I am so glad Denzel won the Oscar, but my favorite part of this video is seeing how happy Sidney Poitier is when he hears that he won and sees him walk on stage. Then this moment at the 1:14 mark.
Julia Roberts said one day after their make the film THE PELICAN BRIEF,she said her platonic love was Denzel Washington,,,,
Yeah sure. The way she says: My Life, Denzel.
nobody gives a s**t about Julia Roberts ... she's insufferable
And I dont blame her. He is my platonic love too 😄
"Platonic," my azz....she'd love to give Denzel a "touch up!"
(If she hasn't ALREADY!)
@@ronjunior who wouldn't
Too see the excitement in Sidney face was perfect. Congratulations to both. Rest in Peace Sidney.
Point is, Denzel's acting in training day was wonderful. He was just so cruel and wicked in it, and it was outstanding. The academy saw it this way too, so he deserved it.
tinyblueflamesx He got overlooked for playing many good guy roles tho!
Crowe was muuuuch better
Ivan B no he was not..
No, he didn't, Crowe's performance in A Beautiful Mind was clearly the best of that year. But the Academy had their reasons for not giving it to him.
It was an awesome moment for her as well, because she really likes Denzel.
imagine 18 year old John David Washington at home watching his father win the oscar.
This man deserves another Oscar! Two is not enough for one of our greatest actors.
There is no black panther without Denzel Washington- Chadwick Boseman
oh
Denzel was in the Black Panther party?
@@bdub8522 nope
Denzel was a mentor to Chadwick, which he has been to so many younger actors. He must have promised himself that if he ever got to a position where he could help, he would.
Something so warming watching this again, seeing Josh Harnett so young in the crowd and all those actors, when Hollywood still had an air of being the place where the best actors in the world go. How time flies. The 90s and 00s were my favourite times.
Aww, love the way he kept hugging his wife and just let her enjoy this moment with him. He deserves more than 1 Oscar Denzel
He has two. He had won previously for Best Supporting Actor for GLORY (1989).
To me, Denzel Washington is the most good-looking actor in Hollywood... No one can top him...
100% agreed
Daniel Day Lewis is more handsome than Denzel.
@@dannytorrance4024 no
@@dannytorrance4024 you need a eye exam!!!😉
Definitely
He just made me cry! This is the Genius of D.Washington!
His motivational speech at that college still gives me goosebumps ❤️
taht was Such a great speech!!
Julia was so happy for him because she thought he was snubbed for his role in Malcolm X.
Lol stop lying
And because they were friends from The Pelican Brief.
@@ΧρόνηςΣυρόπουλος It's a fact, dumbass. She literally spoke publicly about it. Have you noticed 7 months later, and no one agrees with you?

@@ΧρόνηςΣυρόπουλος You know you like it when I get agressive to you.
Julia Roberts being so happy her friend won is the type of love I need
I love Denzel Washington ❤. Love from Nigeria 💕.
1:50 "I wanna be the best actor in the world"
Someone in the audience/another actor: "you are"
There were more than actor’s in the audience. You have no idea who said it.
Him walking up those steps sent chills down my spine
My favorite part of this seeing Denzel and julia together! Loved them both in the Pelican Brief! -june 1, 2020
King Kong ain't got shit on me!
One of the most charismatic man i've ever seen in my whole life. One of the greatest, definitely top 5 best actors ever...
i don't see white people complain Daniel Day Lewis got an oscar for playing a corrupt oil tycoon.
+Calvin Candie So you say. That's white bias clearly showing. Sit down
Manu Ginobilis Bald Spot Lol WHAT!?!?!? That is seriously funny, I'll assume your trolling (:
Denzel was mesmerizing in Training Day and totally deserved to win IMO.
Mmm, that voice! I could listen to him talk all day.
A moment in time. A moment in time😢. Sydney and Denzel unspoken code with their Oscar.👏👏
Most deserved oscar . What a boss
Can’t believe he was 48 years old he looks too young
Technically he was 47. His birthday is in december and the Academy Awards generally around february/march so yeah... 47 and 2-3 months here
@@YuriYeag3r lmao technically
O
Every time I see this, it makes me smile. Denzel, you are an amazing actor, quite extraordinary!
Julia was so excited and hyped for him 🥺
"KING KONG AIN'T GOT NOTHING ON ME." ~ Detective Alonzo. 🤨
This is probably my most favorite Oscar. From, Denzel giving Sydney. A lot of love and they both raise their Oscars held up like a cheers 🥂 and Julia Roberts giving Denzel Washington a big hug at the end such a great moment.
This guy……..one of the best actors to ever grace the screen.
Is it me or was Ethan about to cry when he shout out to him
+Sam Brown yeah he was
Sam Brown Hawke was amazing in that film also. They were so good together. Ethan Hawke is highly underrated.
Yeah that sounds about right. I wouldn't say I have an issue with it either, it's just a little inaccurate.
2:06 that deep breath says it all.
The man is sooo smooth and so incredibly talented. He should have 10 Oscars by now.
So as Leo
Some of y'all need to stop complaining about denzel getting this Oscar over Russell crowe. denzel deserve this Oscar because they cheated him outta the Oscar for Malcolm x. There are a lot black actors who deserve Oscars but never get nominated or they get cheated out of it. Wesley Snipes, Angela Bassett, Samuel L Jackson are a few who should've gotten one by now
I agree but the academy shouln't based on that for a win. Lorraine Braco did a fantastic job in Goodfellas but lost to Whoopi because they owe her an oscar.
Wesley Snipes?? white man can't jump role?!! curious to heat ur answer.
wisestcrazyboy Wow Wesley has done something like 50 films. Surely he should be in the running for one of them. :) White Men Can't Jump was just one of many.
wisestcrazyboy Wesley has done many roles where his acting was great. He should've won an Oscar for Nino Brown in New Jack City
0:04 "I love my Life" moment is egomaniac iconic
I think I read something about Julia saying that because of Denzel, she was able to open up to love and start a family. So I think that when he won, she might be stating that she now “love my life” is due to him. I’m sureDenzel and his wife must knew what she means.
Not really. She’s good friends with him from The Pelican Brief.
Denzel Washington is a true legend.
