    The bigger, heavier and more expensive these types of sport 4x4 quads get, the less interested I become. When the original Yamaha Wolverine was released in ‘95 it was 485lbs dry, not overly huge, not super wide and you could actually pick up one end or the other. I had a ‘96 and currently have an ‘03. Now the sizes, weights and prices for these types of quads have just gotten out of hand. A guy can buy two Yamaha YZ125X dirt bikes for the price of this Can-Am, become a way better rider, do way cooler tricks and stunts have actually have girls smile and wave at you when hauling a dirt bike in your truck. A giant four wheeler, nope.
    That new, 900lb super wide and huge Polaris Scrambler is even worse. But, all that said you guys put out a nice video. Good job!

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  4 роки тому

      We get where you're coming from on the fact that ATVs just keep getting heavier and heavier. I think it's kind of funny that you view dirt bikes as a tool to pick up chicks though. Go look up the UA-cam channel How to Beast maybe he can help you with this. Just joking around. In all seriousness, good points.

    • @thatalaskaguy
      @thatalaskaguy 4 роки тому

      @@ATVonDemand haha! No, I’m well past the point of trying to pick up girls cause I have a dirt bike. Because it already worked 23 years ago and I married her! 😁
      I took a look at the thumbnails for the Beast videos, I didn’t even know they existed. I think they’d be funny to watch.
      I hoping that the ATV and SxS OEM’s quit chasing the wealthy boomers with their products and start focusing on the broke millennials and taylor their productsto them like what’s happening in the street bike market. Maybe we’ll start seeing smaller, lighter, lower cost ATV’s like what the sport started off with in the late 70’s early 80’s. Until then I don’t see myself in the market to replace my current quads with my newest one being 14 years old now!

    This is the best 4x4 made. It's always cheap to maintain. We've been racing them for several years now and they're vastly superior to anything out there... as you guys said, disproportionately.
    I have a 2020 and there no lag swapping modes on the fly. Regular mode can get you in trouble on hill climbs, so if I'm in Normal I'll click it up to Sport so it doesn't bog

      I want to get a renegade i just ride Honda's now. I do Trails, steep hills and rock crawling mostly.
      In your experience on a steep hill with Rocks put the Renegade in low Range and sport mode to keep from bogging?

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks for the watch and the comment. When you switch throttle modes you have to take your hand off of the throttle and the grip pretty much to get to it. We wish there was a switch like the Run / off switch will you could simply click between the throttle modes without having to push a button and wait for the readout to confirm that you switch throttle modes. We have to complain about something.

      Low range is helpful but the 1000cc models have so much power that high range can be used most of the time. I have an 08 Suzuki King Quad 750 myself. I don't use low range much either. Only when pulling around my trailer, putting around in the yard and on trails I know are slow. The few times I have pulled out another stuck quad, i've used low too. A few months ago I was in a big ride with a bunch of other people. It was very slow paced so I was in low then. Had to go up and down many steep hills and quite a bit of mud. Low is actually more useful going down a steep hill. Keeps you from using your brakes as much.

      There's always next year.

    • @gregrowe1168
      @gregrowe1168 4 роки тому

      Can-Am doesn't really have a true locker on any of their machines. Its all the visco lock. Basically its limited slip until the system detects too much wheelspin and progressively locks the front diff up to a full lock. Then when you don't need it anymore, it unlocks it. Some have what's called visco lock qe, which stands for quick engagement. Basically it is supposed to go to full lock faster than non qe models.

    I always said canams motors are the best drivetrain not so much in the past years like my 07, but the new models look awesome, they always had the best motors. I push my shit to the limit which probably isn’t good but when it starts smoking I’ll throw some high compression pistons in her. But damn my wheelers just at 5200 miles I bought it at 3800. I beat the piss out of it. Hold it wide open for 15 seconds plus fly down trails, take it threw thick mud, and put it threw more than I ever should, and the motor never gives up, never burns oil never skips a beat. Which I think is mainly due to the fact canam built the motor to be used that way, before I had a grizzly 660 treated it the exact same but it have 4K miles and i didn’t make it past probs 5k before she started smoking and blew up. Cracked the piston right in half and I think that’s due to the way the motor was designed to be ran. Sure there’s other factors and reasons why but this renegade is sweet.

      @@ATVonDemand from what I heard, this ABS, T form tractor version is rubbish up the hill.
      1st disadvantage: The abs it brakes the wheel that lost the traction and sends the power to the other one with the risk to throw you that side where the grip is(not helping when you are climbing on a hard trail).
      2nd disadvantage: Is down on power, only 82 hp
      I might do the conversion to ViscoLock and go on RJWC exhaust to gain some power and some traction up to hill.

    upgraded rear end? My 2019 XXC 1000 now has 7,200 miles on it. 3 rear ends and 4 drive shafts. I wish the drive shaft was straight or eliminated the U-Joints like the Grizzly. Who races GNCC with only the factory skid plate? If we are gonna call it XXC we could at lease protect the frame from front to rear. They come with one small plate in the middle, plastic skid upfont and nothing protecting the rear of the frame underneath.. Who decided to switch back to a single brake lever in GNCC?????? I'll buy another one but I'm gonna have to swap the 2019 brakes to the 2021. I bet Landon isnt using a single handle bar lever and mini skid plate. Great Video quality but Can Am can needs to spend more time with GNCC before claiming the XXC is ready. Thumbs up for adding the front sway bar.

    • @ATVonDemand
      @ATVonDemand  4 роки тому +3

      You raise some good points. We were a little surprised about single lever breaking after hearing that they used to have separate front and rear brakes. I bet you're right, Landon probably does not use single lever breaking. We have heard most GNCC Racers run separate front and rear brakes. We would race it with a skid plate upgrade but that doesn't mean we wouldn't be racing against machines with more modifications. There have been many 450 sport quads out there called race-ready that people still choose to dump a bunch more money into. Basically, they're not going to give us everything we might ever want but separate brakes and skid plates isn't asking that much.

Used to race 450s back when the yfz and trx came out in 04. Sick quads back then but first snow always sucked. We had 18 inches last week and this thing just keeps pulling! Coming from sport quads I don't know if I could ever go back. May add a 450 or raptor 700 one day but wouldn't trade up for anything else. Also have the 2 lever brake system and buddy has a 2020 850 with the one lever. Dont like the one. Anyone looking should know the issues with differentials with miles. Guess thats why they have the extended warranty for pennies lol. Get a 3 year BRP extended warranty or a 5 year Zurich as long as original warranty is still in tact. Worth the piece of mind. and before everyone says compare with the scrambler S you need to know that the renegade mopped the floor with the old scrambler.
    a wide renegade would still dominate the scrambler S as well!

      @@ATVonDemand you can compare a 48" wide renegade to a 55" scrambler S but that is not an apples to apples comparison. Put a long travel kit on a renegade and it will mop the floor with the S again! I appreciate your video however - what I mean by in-depth is literally looking at size comparisons of the driveshaft yokes - u joints, 1000 mile review on bushings and wheel bearings. Rear diff in the renegade uses roller bearings. Polaris uses ball bearings. Polaris front diffs snap the pinions off the case if you are too hard on them in reverse. Why not engineer the front driveshaft with a shear point? Can AM did... I think where I am getting at here is the actually bones of each machine are quite different - and I am very curious how the S will hold up. I own one Polaris and will never own another one.

      @@ProjectVengeance we would like to do more long-term type of reviews like that but it would be impossible with all of the machines we test. We have been discussing doing a long-term Polaris versus long-term Renegade video. We have two Riders who ride together often and both of their machines have over a thousand miles on them. As far as putting a long travel kit on a renegade, we don't know of one. We wouldn't do a shoot out where we picked a winner and the loser but running the two back-to-back to demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses of each for potential buyers does make a lot of sense. only thing decent on that quad is the engine. Put a decent transmission in it that is proper for a dang sporty 4 wheeler and get rid of that width at your feet. Like to see how many owners spend time more at the shop than they do on the trail.

    Great review, but there is still not enough power lol sand and snow will clearly prove this, where power to weight is paramount. Keep it up Can Am and Polaris! Push the boundaries.

      Thanks for taking the time to watch and share your thoughts. As long as there are people willing to spend money for more power the manufacturers will continue to push the limits.

      I run my 2020 in the sand dunes in Oregon. Even powdery sand. It runs great, it pulls every hill I ask it to. I do have paddles on it. I can start at the bottom of most hills and goose it up the hill.

      @@John98512 I don't have paddles on my 1000 so that probably helps but as is there is a big difference between my yfz450 and my 1000 in the sand the yfz will walk all over the 1000. It just shakes your teeth out lol I just want a rzr turbo engine in a sportsman.. a 800 2 stroke sled engine would be even better, 180hp N/A and aftermarket turbo options available. But thats probably not going to happen, too much liability and alot will complain about doing top ends @3000 miles.

    I don't know what it is like in the US but when i take a look around here in europe "everyone" drives a renegade but nearly no one a scrambler.
    Can anyone Tell me why the renegade seems to be so much more popular?
    I drive a scrambler xp1000 from 2019 😄

      Thanks for reaching out. We love hearing from people in other countries. One guess as to why people might choose the Renegade over the Scrambler 1000 is because it is a bit quicker accelerating. The Renegade engine and clutching responds quicker to throttle input. It feels faster. Typically if you're going for the biggest displacement brutal power is what people are looking for. Not taking anything away from the Polaris though oh, it would be a great choice for long rides. That's my guess.

      Thank you so much for calling this a commercial. It's a great complement on our production value. We tested, filmed, scripted, recorded and edited this video with ZERO money or direction from Can-Am. Just a review.
