I'm 6 foot 1 and ape length legs and arms so that's why I got the can am renegade xmr 1000r. I live in Louisiana and there's tons of mud here and I ride it everyday. If your locking into a renegade upgrade the belt the the maverick x3 belt so it doesn't snap😀
awesome highly informative video. Wish I watched before I purchased the Polaris Sportsman 850 2019. Now working on swapping for a 2021 Can Am Renegade 1000r XXC
thanks to the boys down south the market to have more hopped up and extreme atvs has exploded just like the diesel performance market. this scrammy makes my 07 500 look weak lol.
Yes it has changed.. I bought 2 of the 06 Scrambler 500's when they came out, and an 07 Sportsman 500, and then the 09 Sportsman 800, and this new 1000 looks like a cross between a Scrambler and a Sportsman.. I may have to go ride one.. lol..
I have both but when it comes to racing or mudding I will just stick with the can am but the scrambler is cool but I wasted alot of money on it so I could get it to perfection
James Hunter The problem is that the scrambler xp 1000 cost more than the renegade 1000 xxc. At the dealership near my home the scrambler is $3,000 more then the renegade.
I am a Polaris fan (we have a scrambler xp1000 and a RZR XP900) but Can Am got it right with all the included add one! Would it have killed Polaris to include some bead locks, as cheap as they are nowadays, or a few other goodies??
Dirt Trax Television I love the video and I have a big question. I would like a sport utility ATV that has enough power to haul a big load and to be able to create a lot of fun in the trails. I do t want it to be too expensive either. I also like to get muddy and snowy. This year we had snow and two days later 72° weather. You know it had to be muddy. Please if you see this recommend a four wheeler that fits the description.
TBH I've never been a fan of Polaris's most of their bike looks weird they don't sound as good they don't have alot of power specially there quads but don't get me wrong there rsr looks quite nice but but u can't go wrong with a rotary engine they sound good and reliable overall I'll pick the renagade anyday but that's my opinion
The design is completely reversed. From day one, Scramblers have always had a distinct design. The Can-Am should have Scrambler decals and the Polaris should have Renegade.
Cant do drag race. This is not about can am. But who cares. Buy what u want. Renegade. Definitely most buy. I hate the looks of them Polaris. Is why u wait for your can am. But Polaris has a name. Not good in mud polaris
Felt like that was a more bang for buck review than an actual comparison of the 2 quads. It would have been a little more interesting if they had 2 bare bones raw 1k's and put them through the riggers. Top speed, pulling power, mud, drag race, etc.... Would actually like to see how they compare to each other rather than what extras I get with the base purchase.
In tall hills and tight trails these type of machines can't keep up with a 1000 dollar big bear think about that. There not very light or nimble . So if your into carving your own trails in a tough tight trails you'll be left behind with these machines.
I actually really like how it looks doesn’t look like an taxing atv but can be when put up to the test. You can still use it as a sort of utility but also for racing
Why so little horsepower on these 1k bikes? Most 1k snowmobiles (4 stroke) are making 120+ horsepower. Kind of sad though considering my 500 two-stroke claims 99 HP.
OG LilRage Joonas Riihimäki Nah, that's what you say now, but they're heading there. Razer XP 1000 white lightning makes 110 hp (8500 ish rpm) and 70 ft lbs of torque (7500 ish rpm). In the land of snowmobiles, Arctic Cat's, or should I say Suzuki's, 1056cc twin cylinder mill makes 123 hp (relatively low for this displacement) @ 8500 rpm and 78.2 ft lbs of torque at 8000 rpm. Add the turbo and those figures jump to 177 hp @ 7850 rpm and 121 ft lbs @ 7300 rpm. I agree that those might be a bit excessive for a bike, but for something like the RZR, I think it would be manageable.
What's the rave about these big fancy quads I have a polaris 455 diesel and it goes where all the other quads go and my sportsman 850 sp had to winch a xxc renegade up a pretty steap hill it couldn't climb
Outlander has been more reliable, and powerful from my experience. And that’s from a guy, that’s owned Polaris and Can am since 2006. Can-am is what I would recommend.
Not hard to be reliable when you make 19 hp dude. Sure, the old japanese quads/tri's are crazy reliable. But when it comes to all out performance they aren't even in the conversation. I started on a 250x, went to a 300ex, then a 660 raptor, then a Honda 700xx, and finally landed on a 1000 xxc. There is no comparison. The can-am is just better at everything, everywhere, all the time.
I grew up riding a 86 Yamaha Moto 4 225 5 speed and I love that quad, still do to this day. Got a bit older and started riding a late 90s Sportsman 500 and even that was better at everything than my Yamaha was. And that doesn't even compare to the new stuff. I will agree tho, my 86 has 16,000 miles on it and it's only had a rear axle replaced and oil changes every so often, it just wont die, but it also won't go anywhere these will.
I rode a Renegade 1000 for 3 years. I had so many reliability problems (required 7000$ of repairs on warranty and spends 182 days at the dealer for repairs). Even if the bike is great, you finish to hate it when you are stuck at 50 km in the forest with an overheat engine on safemode. So I changed for Srambler 1000 and I like it better, the ground clearance and the suspensions work much better. It is shorter (10 cm) and wider (5 cm). The weight is better distributed; it is more stable from side to side. Sometimes with the Gade you feel that you gonna get throwned on the side. Let's just hope it will be more reliable than the Renegade, time will confirms. Anyway, it is hard to be worst....
I have a 17' Scrambler 1000 2' lift 30's. (wife's) and a 16' Can Am Renegade XMR 1000 stock. The Scrambler hands down is to me an all around better bike. Handling- the Scrambler feels like it is on rails. Steering is tight and smooth. At high speeds it feels like you are in full control and it doesn't overcompensate. Renegade- I've tried all three settings and even the low assistance setting feels sketchy and loose at high speeds. Ride comfort- Srambler- the seating position is perfect and the slim seat helps you grip and control in tight turns. Can-am riding for extended periods of time becomes uncomfortable. HEAT! Scrambler- stays cool after hours of riding. Renegade- gets red hot almost immediately. It gets so hot it's already melted the plastics. Can am makes a " high heat" correction kit for it but I think thats something the bike should come with at least from the factory. Not only does the heat and entire bike get hot but it blows hot air on your right leg making it impossible to ride in shorts. Power- Scrambler- smooth predictable power more in the mid range. Renegade- low low end explosive tourqe. To sum it up the Scrambler is like a refined European super car. The Renegade is like an American muscle car. I understand that comparing the Scrambler and the XMR mud specific Renegade is a little bit like apples and oranges but I think if I were to have one bike I would take my "Snorkeled" Scrambler.
Guys i have exactly THIS problem. Since they want to chance the admission for Quad and ATV in Germany to a max limit of 90km/h i really need to buy a bigger one in the next Year. But which one? Scrambler 1000 or Renegade 1000... I like both - i just want a ATV which doesnt have such huge problems like my CFmoto CF550 ... Its a pain in the butt really...
Can't make up my mind on weather to go with a scrambler, or a raptor 700r, all my buddies around here have raptors and if I go wth the scrambler I'm afraid I'll be getting smoked by all of them, but I like the thought of almost being able to go anywhere with my atv!
Hi guys at dirt trax, after 4 years, here's my question. I ride in Quebec, and I have to choose between those two both with 5k on it both around 8000$. I'm 41 y.o. 250 pounds 5'10" (a big block!) I wont race it but I'll beat it like I stole it😈 I dont mind upgrading it, wheels and tires, handle bars and hand guards. So my only concern is witch one is the most reliable? Tks, I really like your reviews. I've been in that bath since 9 years old...Had full bolt-on 250r and banshee and a 49 whp 700xx full bolt on and tune. Yes, I saw the review of the outlaw 525 but ktm+polaris to me, it means a budjet only for repairs! So what's the best for me, should I wait for something else coming I saw the scrambler 1000 XP-S. I've paid 19 000$ for my SUV last year so...you can see I'm on a budjet.
They're both awesome sports quads. I own a 2014 polaris sportsman X2 550. My brother have the can am outlander max 650 and 850. I can keep up in any trail with them. I prefer the polaris because of the on demand ad system. The can am 4x4 visco lok lacks a bit. It takes one whole rotation of the wheel when trying to engage in lock to be able to get out of something when your stuck. I'm glad polaris came out with a 1000th to compete with can am. No shout of a doubt they're both number 1 to me.
It's really iffy comparing both of these bikes because like he said.. The scrambler if for someone that wants a 1k bike, but likes to keep it "civilized" ... A renegade on the other hand, is for someone that likes to push the bike to it's limit in every aspect, and likes to be balls to the wall.. Personally, I'd take the Renegade everytime, But then again, I'm just a BRP fanboy in general.
I own a 2001 Polaris scrambler 500 2X4 and I love it and it seems like a good bit of power. But are these new quads really worth the amount of money they cost and is it really that much more power?
hey guys whats up i ahve a raptor 700 sorry if i sound dumb but if i take a 4x4 shoukd i take. a renegade 800/850 or a sportsman 850 scrambler 850 which one is better stronger i just dont want any problems with it thanks guys
I haven't had a bike since my ATC 250r cuz there isn't many places to ride any more so I'm out of the loop.. THEY MAKE 4 WHEEL DRIVE ATV'S THAT GO 80MPH????? I WANT ONE!!!!
I have a 2016 renegade and a 2017 Outlander and the Outlander dominates, the renegade is to damn slow at 65mph the Outlander can just hit 80mph and is way snappier.
Yeah I'm more of a can am fan because I have a friend that owns a rzr 900 and if I'm riding behind him I can see that his a arms are bent and his Axles are wobbeling it's cheap and I've see. People with commanders and mavericks that had them things 6-7 foot in the air their jut higher quality and Polaris' atvs are worse just watch a grizzly 700 vs a sportsman 850
But then you're dropping even more money into your bike. This was just a review of stock straight from the factory bikes and in that aspect can-ams are better
Lame, this comparison seemed more about the bikes by themselves instead of an actual comparison test. How about telling us which is faster, handles better, works better on the trails or track? We all can figure out on our own most of what you said in the video just by looking at the stats. Disappointed.
I'm somehwhat new to this atv stuff but been wanting to buy a quad been looking at the 850s and raptor 700 don't know witch to get mainly will be riding on the street , bayous , big grass fields , maybe lighting riding in mud I want something for all around that and looking for more on the cheaper any one know which would be the best option I've been wanting the raptor for the longest but recently been seeing this kind of 2nd doubting myself
Thee (in my opinion) the most honest and trusted atv / snowmobile show ever , if you listen carefully these guys will give you the goods , I really like the can am 450 racer comment , uncanny how that stuff just sort of happens with quality manufactures !!
They are both nice, I have a 1000 xxc but I don't dislike the Polaris. Just never been a fan of them personally. I'm so used to the low end grunt of the Can Am I couldn't switch.
I regret watching this, I thought I had my decision made on what i want to get (outlander 850xt) but now I want a renegade haha, dpssote not being as practical 😅
anyone who has owned a can-am 800:1000 knows they dont last a day cost me £350 repairing mine every time i was out.. down toned to king quad 750 and it gets me everywere zero problems
I have an important question. I have a Polaris sportsman 850xp and I want to know if I can put the scrambler plastics on my sportsman? Because of them both having the same chassis it only makes sense to me that it would fit. PLEASE HELP.
Thanks for the great knowledge,I just purchased a Can-Am renegade with all the bells and whistles.❤
Nice machine! 👍
But In tight woods, sugar sand and swamp, both would lose to some hillbilly on a clapped out fortrax
phoenix love I went muddling with a bunch of can amp new cats some Polaris’s and my fourtrax on fuckin 26s fuckin slayed
😂 100% truth
🤣🤣
Not the remade XMr
Honda is slow, and rides rough and just boring in general it’s for poor people.
Glad it was helpful! Good luck on your new purchase!!
Damn, looking back at my 1998 Scrambler, it's changed by a metric-fuckton.
thanks to the boys down south the market to have more hopped up and extreme atvs has exploded just like the diesel performance market. this scrammy makes my 07 500 look weak lol.
Grenzgänger I mean come on POWER steering. I have an 04 scrambler
Grenzgänger my 2004 is a god damn dinosaur compared to these things
Yes it has changed.. I bought 2 of the 06 Scrambler 500's when they came out, and an 07 Sportsman 500, and then the 09 Sportsman 800, and this new 1000 looks like a cross between a Scrambler and a Sportsman.. I may have to go ride one.. lol..

I have both but when it comes to racing or mudding I will just stick with the can am but the scrambler is cool but I wasted alot of money on it so I could get it to perfection
This wasnt a shoot out, it was a review on both the bikes
Dirt tracks and snow tracks same guy out of Canada will always pick the skidoo or Can-Am
Can am all the way, built for Canada, some of the toughest conditions, really a no brainer. Scramblers do look damn nice though.
Yes , you should've included price comparison. If you're gonna knock polaris for lack of options you need to give them praise for costing less
James Hunter i agree
James Hunter The problem is that the scrambler xp 1000 cost more than the renegade 1000 xxc. At the dealership near my home the scrambler is $3,000 more then the renegade.
i saw the title and said this is a no brainer
Can-Am or Polaris
I am a Polaris fan (we have a scrambler xp1000 and a RZR XP900) but Can Am got it right with all the included add one! Would it have killed Polaris to include some bead locks, as cheap as they are nowadays, or a few other goodies??
I agree, Polaris needs to step up to compete with CanAm.
Hey Guys, when are you going to do the Sportsman 1000 XP vs the Outlander 1000 Xt??? That is a shoutout I think everyone will want to see!
You dam right they need to do it if they want to do something and add thundercat 1000 in it too.
Great video, ever thought about making one on a yamaha blaster?
The banshee would be a crazy video.
Ive been eating dirt since i was 10
Which is better???
Yes
you should do can am maverick 1000R turbo vs Polaris RZR
Dirt Trax Television I love the video and I have a big question. I would like a sport utility ATV that has enough power to haul a big load and to be able to create a lot of fun in the trails. I personally dont like all those computer opinions, I tend to switch between them and never know what setting to use.
i see alot of people put it on max and leave it forever
if you want a fast quad get a cannondale 440 speed
I think the Polaris is better just like I said tho I'm a trail rider sooo Polaris for me
can you guys compare the 1000 hl sportsman vs the 1000 renagade XMR 1000
how much money are they?
The design is completely reversed. From day one, Scramblers have always had a distinct design.
The Can-Am should have Scrambler decals and the Polaris should have Renegade.
The spacing is for balance. But nice try finding something wrong.
how much for the renegade
About $13,500 in the US for the 1000 XXC, $14 and some change for the camo one.
you took the 850 over the renegade last year and now you take the renegade over the 1k scrambler?!
I think a drag race, would have been appropriate!
Renegade is faster on 1/4 by about half a quad
My 850 outlander is faster than my buddies scrambler 850 by far. It's sad
The Dubya your buds a fat fuck

Cant do drag race. This is not about can am. But who cares. Buy what u want. Renegade. Definitely most buy. I hate the looks of them Polaris. Is why u wait for your can am. But Polaris has a name. Not good in mud polaris
Hurry up and do a Sportsman 1000 vs Outlander 1000 shootout already!
The Renegade looks like Bumblebee NICE!!!
Coldshotboarder exactly what I wanted to see as well
In tall hills and tight trails these type of machines can't keep up with a 1000 dollar big bear think about that. There not very light or nimble . So if your into carving your own trails in a tough tight trails you'll be left behind with these machines.
You just made Can-am another 14k. I was on the fence about spending the cash, but not anymore.
I wish the scrambler didn't look so weird
Ian Cunningham ya i know they should have kept the look of the old scrambler
It looks better than old, I mean it does look more utility, I own a old scrambler but I think they did great!
IC Rides a
It does not look all that great and when compared to the Renegade it looks like ass
Atv doesn't need that much power... and 120hp would be too much for an average guy to handle anymore...
OG LilRage Joonas Riihimäki Nah, that's what you say now, but they're heading there. Razer XP 1000 white lightning makes 110 hp (8500 ish rpm) and 70 ft lbs of torque (7500 ish rpm). Comparing apples to toast . The engines are totally different design. I hate when ppl compare snowmobiles to bikes.
Conrado Christianson I hate it when people call vehicles with 4 wheels, "bikes".
EnabledShooter you must not spend much time around them then , bikes, quads, wheelers , mudmachines ect. all the same thing brah.
u should do sportsman vs outlander
Logan Holland sportsman will win I seen that before
Never lol outlander way better
What's the rave about these big fancy quads I have a polaris 455 diesel and it goes where all the other quads go and my sportsman 850 sp had to winch a xxc renegade up a pretty steap hill it couldn't climb

You got the best job in the world bro !
Amen
Legit
It’s funny that the Renegade looks more like a Scrambler than the Scrambler lol.
neither will ever be as reliable as a 250 bigred or as good in tight spots in the woods, you cant kill the old machines, you cant fix the new ones
Just because you can't afford something it's junk,I guess.
It's hard to kill something that cant get out of it's own way.
Not hard to be reliable when you make 19 hp dude. Sure, the old japanese quads/tri's are crazy reliable. But when it comes to all out performance they aren't even in the conversation. How has the scrambler been ?
I’ll stick to my Raptor 700R
😂😂 gay ass raptor. All there good for is a track
arthur aces you're an idiot
arthur aces except it’s marketed and intended primarily for tight trails?
@COSMINkov scrambled eggs will leave you stranded, frigging polaris junk. Lol I'm dying too😂

you guys should do can am outlander 450 vs Polaris sportsman 450
Why, every body know that the Brp(cam am) will will against the sportman(the shit)
Yeah I agree, I just want to see what they think
These 2 beasts are wayyyy over the top. Too much of toooooo much! It's like the 07 Aprilia RXV 550, but they weigh 600lbs more!

The renegade is better
canam have electrical problems..i had i canam had to replace the transmission the first couple months of having it.....
I ride a Polaris sportsman 850 highlifter I enjoy complete with can am outlander.
Fair win i guess but i think overall the scrambler suits most people for trail riding as the renegade suits people who are more into racing.
thats why i own a scrambler
It's really iffy comparing both of these bikes because like he said.. The scrambler if for someone that wants a 1k bike, but likes to keep it "civilized" ... A renegade on the other hand, is for someone that likes to push the bike to it's limit in every aspect, and likes to be balls to the wall..

The same people that buy corvettes and other high performance vehicles, and never put the pedal to the floor.
McNasty lol so true
Both great quads it just all depends on which one u like better.

It's a shame they don't come with a full or semi-manual.
I agree, cvt is lame. All you can do is mash the gas. I like shifting gears much more, a lot more involvement, and it's just more fun.
Exactly. Who wouldnt want to pretend they are dumping clutches in that monster. Would be a dream if you could use my Rincon 3 speed semi.
I’m thinking of buying the scrambler 1000 or the can am , what do you think would be the best option
wasnt that the entire point of the video?
If i were to buy one, the tires be least of my concern. I could easily replace them with a different set.
But then you're dropping even more money into your bike. This was just a review of stock straight from the factory bikes and in that aspect can-ams are better
Aaron Miller Or, sell your stock tires and buy different ones, barely anymore money dropped into it
I wish i could make it street legal!! Fuck it, I'm taking it to the road any way.
The Polaris scrambler is ugly I just gotta be honest renegade looks 10x better
what if your an average idot like myself that hates polaris lol just had bad luck wih 2 of them hard to go back
Great video with lots of information. Love my Renegade 1k!
Lame, this comparison seemed more about the bikes by themselves instead of an actual comparison test. How about telling us which is faster, handles better, works better on the trails or track? We all can figure out on our own most of what you said in the video just by looking at the stats. Disappointed.
Been debating on what one to buy for weeks and months now! Can am renagade 1000 xxc here I come! Cant wait to push it to the limit!
I will guarantee you that the people that disliked have never rode a four-wheeler
Why don't you compare the Polaris 850 HL edition against the Can-Am 850 xmr ?
I own one one the first Renegades made 07 800 08 i eat Polaris for breakfast Renegade for life
My foreman rubicon 500 could beat both of them!
I'm somehwhat new to this atv stuff but been wanting to buy a quad been looking at the 850s and raptor 700 don't know witch to get mainly will be riding on the street , bayous , big grass fields , maybe lighting riding in mud I want something for all around that and looking for more on the cheaper any one know which would be the best option I've been wanting the raptor for the longest but recently been seeing this kind of 2nd doubting myself
wait so hold on... the sportsman 850 is better than the outlander 1000 but the renegade 1000 is better than the scrambler 1000? this doesnt make sense
I hope you guys review the Polaris sportsman 1000!! I would love to see what it can do!!
Great review. Very balanced and actually cleared up with is better for which rider. Well done
can am is better then polaris in the mud and why would you race a 4x4
Thee (in my opinion) the most honest and trusted atv / snowmobile show ever , if you listen carefully these guys will give you the goods , I really like the can am 450 racer comment , uncanny how that stuff just sort of happens with quality manufactures !!
Since you want options then go to the polaris website and customize your scrammy it's that easy
Scrammy
The renegade xxc is my dream quad
Polaris for the win
+Optexic Gaming polaris didn't win though. so can am wins AGAIN
+Griffin Cook idem
Same bro the renegade is my dream quad.👍
Jonathan Richter it was mine too and i eventually got one! you’ll be pleased to hear it was my all time favorite atv and i’ve owned many.
i wish i had a job like this
im only 11 and i asked my mom for the scrambler 850 velocity blue
But, but..... I thought Polaris paid them the most for advertising?? Lol
Polaris Scrambler 1000 89hp :D :)
They are both nice, I have a 1000 xxc but I don't dislike the Polaris. Just never been a fan of them personally. I'm so used to the low end grunt of the Can Am I couldn't switch.
I cant tell which one is better the scrambler1000 or the renegade 1000
I regret watching this, I thought I had my decision made on what i want to get (outlander 850xt) but now I want a renegade haha, dpssote not being as practical 😅
In the same dilemma. Put a deposit on the renny but seen the 650 dps outlander now im losing it aha
I take the renegade looks better
anyone who has owned a can-am 800:1000 knows they dont last a day cost me £350 repairing mine every time i was out.. down toned to king quad 750 and it gets me everywere zero problems
Charlies Channel
Stop the lies
I have an important question. I have a Polaris sportsman 850xp and I want to know if I can put the scrambler plastics on my sportsman? Because of them both having the same chassis it only makes sense to me that it would fit. PLEASE HELP.
the scrambler is a awesome machine
*an awesome
Nice video! I have a video on my page of me on my 2016 Polaris scrambler vs a canam renegade 1000 🤫 lol
OMG dirt trax did a video where Polaris didn't win? Can't believe it.
