"If I dont know whether or not I'll succeed I'm often deterred from even trying." That felt like such a personal blow to me as an artist, perfectionist, and profession procrastinator.
I was so scared of making soap but it's not difficult at all! The lye is scary but work with it outside or use ice to keep the fumes low. Also keep vinegar handy in case some gets on your skin. Other than that follow the recipes and it is so fun! I've had a couple of flops but even they have been fun.
These garden and farmer's market soaps have been my ABSOLUTE favorite theme you have done in a long time. so amazing Katie and Kenny!! you guys are the best!!
I am a monthly customer and I will definitely be getting this one. And I just did what makes me happy ... watching Katie! I love this channel. Now all I need is a Kenny video.
@@christinepowell5709 yeah they definitely make for great gifts especially if you get any birthstone soaps for someone's birthday or maybe a certain bar reminds you of someone, but certainly any occasion would work! you definitely deserve praise for being so dedicated to supporting quality small businesses! kudos to you (:
You're my favorite show to watch when I'm feeling stressed. Watching you make soap and listening to you laughing just brings my stress down so well. Plus purple is my favorite color so I knew this was going to help. Thanks Katie for being yourself and making these videos, they help me so much.
a flower garden will be a fun thing to do with Lilly i love the fact that my Mom got me out in the garden as a child i would help her plant flowers, vegetables and fruit trees. those memories are with me and i hope to pass down that Knowledge to my kids when i have them
Thank you Katie this particular video message was heartfelt and felt like you were speaking to me. I am a new fan of yours and get inspired everytime I make my soaps. 🤗🤗🤗⭐️⭐️⭐️
I found the ending of this video extra entertaining because you say go do anything that slows you down helps you feel centered and makes you happy. And my only thought was that's what I clicked on this video for. And you know, it worked thanks!
I dreamt of a nice cottage garden (the old fashioned European style with lots of flowers between edible crops and herbs) with a small orangery since I was a little child. Until then I'll conitue growing little apple, citrus and avocado trees on my windowsill and balcony : ) Growing trees from the seeds is quite easy and great fun. My grandpa planted a little plum tree together with me when I was a 3 years old and it still grows in their backyard. I recommend doing something similar with your kids, it's amazing seeing the trees grow and it's great for kids to have their own tree to take care of once they're a bit older.
Katie, if you have Netflix I highly recommend watching Big Dreams Small Spaces. It will inspire you to garden even more! I don't have a yard, just a patio that is north facing, so it is always in the shade. I didn't think I could garden but after watching the show, I have transformed my back patio into a thriving container garden for shade plants! 🌱🌱🌿🌷
Even if you aren’t successful with your garden the first time around don’t let that deter you from trying! If for no one else then do it for the kids to show them perseverance. What a great way to show them how to try something new and to not be fearful of it and especially to not be fearful of failing. Because you can always pick back up and try again! Besides I think Lily would be so cute in the garden with you Helping to plant seedlings and taking care of the flowers! Best of luck
I love lavender. The smell the color the flavor. Yes I said the FLAVOR. I had a lavender honey ice cream the other day and my life will never be the same. Ice cream is probably my favorite food and it was the best ice cream I’ve ever had. 💜
Lavender soap rocks that is a beautiful bar. Flower gardens are very relaxing, I think you will love it so will your daughter .just go with it and have fun 😊
I have been watching your videos for about 2 years now I think and I am OBSESSED!! I BINGE WATCH all of them! I have all of them saved so I can go back and watch every single one of them. I try to like them when I can but sometimes I forget. It helps take my mind off of things and it is so relaxing!! I was hoping to get an Aquamarine soap bar but I miss it! Always next year! Keep up the good work beautiful! ♥️
Good for you and starting a garden. Be certain you plant flowers which grow well here in North Texas. And start smalk. You can always go bigger as you gain experience.
I have been watching you for 2 days straight i cant seem to stop you have me wanting to learn to make soaps like you do. .i absolutely love your videos .
Thank you for using the sustainable palm oil. It makes a big difference in keeping the rain forest from being clear cut (among many other things). Yay!
I love lavender! It's literally my 20th birthday today, so I hope that's not considered old. Fun fact: Lavender is a natural spider repellent and it's like weed for bees. It's pretty great. And it is also definitely a relaxing smell. I dowse my room in lavender when I'm feeling particularly arachnophobic and/or stressed. It helps a lot in both of those areas, and also calms down my arachnophobia just because it's a relaxing smell. 10/10 Would recommend. Also, it's really pretty and my favorite color.
She’s got a regular one called lemoncello in her diamond bar selection. It’s pretty darned close to a pure lemon, if a little sweeter. It’s just not decorated beyond some flakes... but that makes it easier for me to actually use because it’s pretty but not over the top and I don’t feel guilty for opening it. 🤣
Uuugh this makes me so saaaad! :'( I'm allergic to Lavender but the color is SOOO BEAUTIFUL! Purple is my favorite color. But that being said, usually Vanilla and/or Almond and Honey are usually good to mix with the sent of Lavender.
Oh, no! Probably a stupid question, but have you tried some of the varieties that smell a little more "green"? Also, some hyacinths smell like lavender. Maybe they would be safe?
Take it easy on yourself in the beginning stages of gardening is my advice. It’s okay to start with seedlings instead of seeds. And if a plant dies, it’s just a learning experience, maybe soil was too dry, maybe the spot was too sunny, etc... Failure = learning.
Lavendar is a very easy flower herb to have and is lovely! Herbs in general are also great, not as familiar with flowers. Start small and build your way up! Gardening takes time, but its very rewarding and therapeutic
My favorite soap of yours that I've purchased was the Sento/Spirited Away soap. The lavish spa essential oil blend was sooo good. Peppermint, patchouli, tea tree and lavender 40/42 together is delightful. I hope you release more products, even if it's not soap, with that essential oil blend.
This is such a small detail but I really appreciate you guys putting the names of the ingredients up on screen this time, helped me follow along a bit easier
I have been drawn to plants for the past 6 months or so! Not sure what happened but I am so excited to fill my home with all sorts of beautiful plants. What really has me excited right now are different varieties of pothos 😍 They are so easy to care for also!!
This year I made a promise to myself to start some tiny business and I chose homemade/handmade soaps. I am so glad and simply applaud you popped up when I started my searching. I will watch all of your videos religiously. I love your unique style and your positivity. I already love you to pieces💜
Katie, my two year old son tried to kiss the soap you made through the screen. He loves your videos, watches them every night to help him fall asleep and he adores soap in general. Thank you.
Love Lavender, it's so relaxing! Love your essential oil themes. Something like eucalyptus and lemon or grapefruit and jasmine, would be pretty cool and smell amazing! 🌿 love from the UK!
I love the smell of lavender alone but I was recently gifted handmade liquid soap and it was scented with Lavender and Honeysuckle and OMG! It was lovely!
I planted my first cut flower garden and veggie garden last year, it turned out incredibly well. It was so nice to have fresh flowers on the table or gift a bouquet to friends and family. I would tend to the garden once my kids went to bed, it was a good way to unwind. You'll do great Katie!
Laura from Garden Answer is so informative when it comes to gardening and I believe this year she’s planning on doing cut flowers as well. She’s already started seeding some. Her videos are also very relaxing to watch.
lavender is best stand alone. that being daid it combines well with rose ans sandalwood. beautiful soap! a line of essential oil soaps is a magnificent idea!
Omg! I totally understand what you mean about the garden calling. I can barely keep a cactus alive but this year I am determined to raise some of my own veggies and herbs.
Katie, I am that same way and always have been! I agree it definitely holds me back a lot in life. I am a die hard perfectionist to my core but the older I get the more I learn... Letting go of control and being a friend to myself instead of a constant critic... Is a lot more fun!
I was never much of a Gardiner but when my bunny passed away she was laid to rest in the yard and I built a garden around her. Now every year I plant new flowers and when they bloom I imagine that it's her sending me the flowers. I just planted rose bushes in it last year and I hope they come back this year.
I bought my first house 2 years ago and started a big garden last year (flowers out front, veggies out back) for the fist time ever. More intuitive than youd think!
My grandmother had flower beds all around their home, filled with flowers that I never could remember the names of, to simple pansies and beautiful roses. She had taken a floral class once to learn how to arrange cut flowers for her home, and that's exactly what she used her beautiful flowers for. For special occasions, she let me help make arrangements for coffee tables or picnic tables. Always guiding me and praising my work even if it looked weird (I was under the age of 10). The last thing she gave me before she passed away was a few old books on floral arrangements that she had used for decades. I never got the hang of growing flowers, but I can grow green things, like ivy's and such. Of course, the soil in the Pacific Northwest is soooooo much different than here in Texas, so I'd have to truck in decent topsoil to have any luck at all with a flower bed. As for lavender, I think the type of lavender depends on whether it's something that one appreciates. Some lavenders are just too bold, whereas the 40/42 is an nice blend that's mild. Then there's those "fake" wanna be lavender scents that are just🤢🤮..
I have watched your channel for a long time now. I don't even make soap (well I did some melt and pour) but you're just so positive and calming and your soaps are beautiful. One day I would love to buy one! I hope you have a good day and know that watching you brightens mine.
Lavender Vanilla is everything. I love that mix. To me it suits most people, as lavender alone can be too much but a touch of sweetness makes it so much more pleasant and calming. And depending on how much vanilla can make a difference. Personally I like both to stand out as it is a very relaxing scent. But even just a hint can really smooth, mellow, and enhance lavender. Great for my headaches
We are doing a large vegetable garden this year. Gonna start composting and we want to collect rain water for the plants. I think for my husband and I it's more about becoming sustainable and living more simply. It's been four years in the making but we are finally getting there.
I don't think Katie has ever made a soap that she hasn't said, "this is my favourite soap from this month" every soap is her favourite soap
Susan Kenny “if everyone is special than no one is” ~incredibles 🤣
So therefore if soap is her favorite than no soap is 🤣🤣
I dont think ive seen a video where she doesn't say it's quintessential
Soap is her passion so every one she makes she loves in a different way. 😂but yea I get what you mean

Yea same. It has to be a good vanilla tho
I was just going to suggest a hint of vanilla . It's a great combo.
Katy embodies a gentle ray of sunshine on a dewy morning. She just warms up and brightens the day.
This soap is beautiful! Would love to see you come up with something with Peonies and Pear. Sounds like an odd combo but they smell so good together!
Peonies are my all-time favourite flower 😍
Peonies and pear sounds so goooooood
I actually second this! Such a wonderful scent.
I love lavender on it's own, but if I were to mix it with something then I'd choose rosemary. That combo is absolutely AMAZING
Basil is amazing with lavender
