I think the pixel art kind of reminds me of the kind of games you'd find on newgrounds and that back in the day - obviously the better ones, mind you - but that's why it could look a bit rough. I think it's what you get when the resolution of the pixel art is neither ultra-detailed or simplistic. I think it honestly might look a bit better if they rethought the pitch black outlines - sometimes I think they could be a colour more innkeeping with the sprite or terrain they belong to, sometimes I think they could just not be there at all. What I appreciate in all of it, however, is that it's different to what I've seen before.

Ahhhhhh the concept of this game is so cool. It's exactly my type of thing and it looks good but I am so torn because I don't really like how it looks. As a pixel artist, pure black outlines with that extremely smooth (not in a good way shading) that makes it look unnatural and most importantly not pixilated. Most of the art is clearly pixel art at it's core but it doesn't take advantage of it. It gets especially wonky when a lot of the background doesn't look pixilated, it clashes. It kinda feels like you wanted to make art like Hollow Knight but couldn't for some reason so you resorted to this lackluster style which feels so off. The mole's animation is mega wack. Other than that, the game is conceptually cool, love the concept, the idea of having more lore in the game and just everything. I hope the visuals can get an improvement.
my main problem is the overuse of gradients, i think the game would look much better if they limited each color to only 3 shades of itself, because the art itself in terms of just pure silhouettes looks great, the color is what takes it down a peg, although the game still looks fairly good

Wouldn't say the background clashes so much as it helps highlight the enemies and terrain at play, making it stand out for gameplay purposes - the outlines do look a little bit odd, but if they're there to that end, I don't think it's a bad compromise. I really like the mole's animation, don't think it's "mega whack" at all, except maybe when it's idle after having emerged and walked forwards. I guess it does have a kind of amateur feel (I don't know anything about art, let alone pixel art) and it reminds me of old flash games, which is nostalgic for me. There's stuff to fix, absolutely, but it doesn't need that much of an overhaul in my opinion - just a little fine tuning.
I could easily imagine the main theme being remixed into a somber lullaby during an emotional moment of the game. It has a strong melody and I hope it's utilized in many situations throughout the game as a leitmotif.

The pixel art is really good but there's one little thing that I find distracting, they're already shaded but light impacts the sprites, though besides that everything looks very cool and polished

I've had a similar game concept to this in my mind for years. Please steal one of my ideas: Make a mechanic where the mech can recklessly launch the pilot across the screen. Maybe something like the pilot enters a hamster ball and rolls up to the mech and shoots the hamster ball into small spaces or a giant aliens mouth or across a lava pit where where you need to float just long enough before the ball dies or into a crane controller or literally anything. Bonus points if the ball has an upgrade and you can spin like sonic.

I love how this is clearly not inspired by hollow knight but by Metroidvania as a genre. I was always worried your game was gonna be some hk clone, but this looks very good! I have just one question, I don't mean to be rude, but what customer protection does Kickstarter have if you can't finish the game/don't release it? Not that I think you will, I've just heard about it happening with other games before, whether deliberately or not.
