I'm embarrassed to say that I know so little about the State that I've lived in my entire life! Really enjoyed the tour of Kaukauna, it's a beautiful place....Thanks, Sally and Marty!

Love your vids! We’ve been subscribed to your channel from the start. Being from Minneapolis and spending a fair amount time in Wisconsin it’s nice place I could actually visit on a short trip. As far as lift bridges go, I’d like to point out there is a lift bridge in Duluth, MN you might look at.
Another interesting episode Sally! Let the Meanderer know that over here in Minnesota we have at least 2 of those lift bridges that lift a whole section up like an elevator. The 2 I know of are the Duluth and Stillwater lift bridges. Both still in operation. Keep up the wonderful work you two!! 👍😀
The fence on the roof is commonly called a widows walk on the east coast. They would go up on the roof to watch for their sailor to come home. What kind of tree was that?
I used to work near Tacoma when its paper mills were running and you could always tell because of the smell. It was called "The Tacoma Aroma" They must have gotten rid of the mills because by the time I actually moved to downtown Tacoma, there was no more smell. I think that's what they closed down and made a park out of the land.
I grew up in Appleton and if the wind was blowing just right you could smell Thilmany paper mill. P.S. The people that lived in Kaukauna when the mill was in operation could not smell the sulfur emissions ❤
When the atmospheric conditions and wind were just right you would find yourself plowing through a thick cloud of stench as you passed through Kaukauna. Roll up the windows and floor it. But even that was to no avail. Quicker you got through it, the better.
Kakauna sounds like a Native American name. Nice walking trail. Vegas of the Valley sure was a hopping place. Denim from $30.99 hmmm? Farmers home sounds interesting! The son? Losing his life during ww2 in Phillipines. Many Americans lost their lifes during that time. My mother is from the Philippines. Her family gave protection to an Anerican soldier hiding him from the Japanese. My grandfather burned his American Army uniform since he was an officer. He would have been imprisoned especially if they found out that , and what they did. Not surprised about the logging. That tree sample was huge and amazing!! Hydroelectric plants are so important. Thanks for pointing out. That old building they are remodeling. BTW MY daughter is creeper about clowns. Btw I really love your burgundy beret!! That Bridal building looks interesting! The stuffed animals were interesting since I am sure some of them are Wisconsin natives. My nephew has animal heads/busts from animals he had hunted in his living in room. That old school is amazing! Glad Kakauna was very walkable. Lots of older historical buildings!! I definitely love that library! Thanks
Osseo Wisconsin my hometown, had a farmers store, you could by most anything, from food,to motor oil, when I was very young,I was with my mom,I saw a lady in a dark coat, thought it was my mom,so I stood beside her for a second, until she looked down at me,it was not my mom,it was an old witchy looking woman, scared the bejesus ,out of me!!!!!!!!
I grew up in west Central Wisconsin, at osseo.or 2miles west ,when the wind was out of the east.we could smell the paper mills,it smelled like puffed wheat cereal. To me..
First
Woohoo 💃🏼
Kaukauna WI is well known for crock cheese never leave without some; crocked or not. It is salty and pairs well with beer and brats.
Thanks for visiting my City🎉
You’re welcome! Thank you, too!!!

I am sooo thankful that they left the trees in the Redwood Forest alone. Well, some of them anyway.

She wore a Raspberry beret... The kind you find in a second hand store... Raspberry Beret - Prince
You read my mind!!! I love Prince’s Raspberry Beret. It’s the inspiration behind my own raspberry beret.
We love you Sally, great history lesson, God Bless

I grew up in Little Chute, next village over! You’ve picked some good spots in Wisconsin that I’ve lived in or right next door!

Take a ride to Duluth and see the Ariel Lift Bridge.
Duluth has been on my list for a while. Gonna get there one of these days.
@@SightseeingSally If you can catch it when one of those 1000' Great Lakes freighters is either coming in or going out it's a sight to see.
There is a lift bridge in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan between Houghton and Hancock.
i live 6 miles away and thier was a few things i didn't know about Kaukauna. Have to go check out the Meadery!
Nice one! I live in Kaukauna ❤
Oh cool 😎 and thanks!
Loving the hat!
What a lovely and interesting town, would love to live there >>
Wow no jacket or even sleeves required in the dead of autumn in the Great Lakes region this year?
Not typically. We should be wearing warm coats and gloves by now.
Loved this!
🙂👍♥️♥️

That would be a white pine. Wi had some big ones back in the day.
My Son works at the Thilmany Plant it’s a very cool place with an amazing History and is responsible for that Famous Kaukauna Aroma lol
at 24:04 I saw an old style Pizza Hut. There are none left in Connecticut.

My Finnish father always called it "KAUkauna." The name is similar to the Finnish word for "far."
Very good
The lift bridge in Duluth mn lifts that way…..you should check out Duluth and Superior wi

I believe it is derived from the Menominee word Ogag-kane, meaning the stopping place of the pike.
Sounds like it belongs in Hawaii.
Thanks for the tour you two!
👍😉
You're welcome, thanks for watching!
The Hardware Store Bar serves the best screwdrivers.
👍🤪
I see what you did there bahahaha 🤣
You take great video's but... i think i'll meet Marty at the Bar thank you. 🤠

Should be noted WI stated many of their dams are in danger of failing due to lack of maintenance
I have ridden my bicycle along the Fox River in Illinois, would that be the same Fox River that is here in the, “Electric City.”
Where is every body? IDE be down by the river fishing
What about Kaukauna cheese that’s sold nation wide?
those are called roof cresting
