That fact eliminates a lot of the GAs since they supported Tim Ballard and his use of psychics seeking Nephi the prophet. Elder Ballard mentioned how Tim Ballard knew Nephi. This proves that at least a few GAs believe in psychic "witches"!

Great point!!! I've had multiple experiences since leaving the church that would have been the core of a testimony or talk on Sunday... except they happened after I learned that the church isn't true, and have often been related to things that the church doesn't support (like the joy, peace, and happiness I have felt when I learned that a relative of mine fell in love with his boyfriend and has found true happiness).

The Holy Ghost is literally just your inner voice, not an external force. When you're indoctrinated, all that's happening is you're receiving subliminal reconfirmations of your own faith as the 'Spirit'. Your brain only works with what's been put there

This is so fascinating to me. I think the Joseph Fielding Smith definition was to make people afraid to leave. When I left the church I’d had all kinds of questions and issues especially about the racism and misogyny in the church. I prayed and prayed and every time I thought about leaving I felt a strong sense of peace that I never felt about staying. So that peace by the church definition would be from the Holy Ghost since Satan cannot give that kind of peace. I also had a feeling that if I left and had faith in my decision to leave I’d have more confirmation about my decision as I time went on. Well, I’ve never gone back. So by church definitions of the spirit, that is what I followed and it lead me out. Now I look back and believe I was trusting myself and my own inner wisdom. Regardless I’m out and what a relief.

I may definitely a better person since I left the church. Being in the closet made me so manipulative and a liar to hide my sexuality. Now I'm out I am finally honest in all my dealings (mostly), I'm kinder and of more use to the world then I was hiding in the closet.

And even murder taking something that you cannot repent of or return something to what you had taken as a step of repentance of forgiveness is the standard that the church gives out so there are several different things you would be classified as going to the Mormon hell.

I was taught that for one to be able to deny the truthfulness of the Holy Ghost that they would have had to have witnessed Christ in the flesh AND have a perfect knowledge of his goodness and that he was the Son of God, which witness can only come by the way of the Holy Ghost. This seems to be in line with the Kimball teachings and subsequent teachings by other general authorities.
However, it's all a crock o' schitt! These kinds of stories are one way the church has developed as a method on how to keep people anchored to the church, not that most people here don't already know that! 😁

In the next life, you will be with the people with whom you are most comfortable. Certainly not the murderers and sorcerers (wicked people) and probably not the people who love Jesus since you don’t think Jesus is real. You seem like a kind person that loves her family and friends. You are not “wicked” for not believing in Jesus. I think loving others and kindness matters far more than which church you join or don’t join.
If it matters, you are certainly not perdition material. To qualify for that, you need to have a sure knowledge of Jesus Christ (the same as would an apostle) and then deny that knowledge. Judas Iscariot and Cain qualify, you don’t. You can rest easy on that one. Plus, you can also take comfort in knowing that if Jesus Christ truly lives and that you should have continued to follow him, you will still find yourself in a beautiful part of heaven that is far greater than anything this world has to offer. I don’t think you will regret “what could have been.” So, you party now and see what happens later, (if there is a later).
Side note: Since you don’t believe in God or an afterlife and are now an atheist, I don’t think you should be worrying about what happens after you die, because as an atheist, you believe that you will cease to exist. Just my two cents.

If you are being honest with yourself, you probably thought the same things about apostates when you were a member. At least I know I did. So I try to find some room to accept those who say I'm going to hell, because they are just trying to do what they can to make their religious beliefs work for them. The system is screwed up, for sure, but most of the people are like you and I used to be. I think I would have been voted "least likely to go astray" in seminary and young adulthood, and accompanying that righteousness was so much judgment, fear, shame, and cognitive dissonance that I didn't even see.

That's like "I don't wanna be your friend" or "I want to breakup," not like me causing anyone any harm at all. I was just telling someone yesterday that my whole ethics can be summed up by, "I don't want any human or animal to needlessly suffer." That's it. But that makes me worthy of eternal suffering. Mkay.

Yeah true Christians don’t believe that. The Bible indicates that God will judge everyone according to how they responded to the revelation they have received. By that standard, some non-Christians may go to heaven and some Christians may go to hell. Doesn’t matter if someone has been told the gospel, read the Bible, etc. God judges us based on what we do with what we have. We will continue to proselyte because we’re commanded to make disciples of all nations. We don’t hold back because of what someone might do or not do with that information. Judgment is coming and “nobody ever told me” will not be an excuse that’s going to work

As a plain Jane gay Christian who loves your channel (due to many similar things in my life I’ve experienced) this tiered afterlife system is so mind-boggling and how people can just flip flop through all of the kingdoms in the afterlife? Makes me wonder what the purpose of our life here is anyway then with this worldview.

Celestial kingdom life: FYE everyday, but with Jesus liv8bg there too, and plural wives for men (I guess all the secondary wives would be the wives of the apostles who denied the spirit? Bc the women need to be married and sealed to enter anyway? Or all the wives are the grown up spirit bodies of the little girls who died before being baptized? Dark, but maybe I'm missing some info on how that's gonna happen. Church, please explain this mathn and show your work lmao)
Terrestrial Kingdom: made up of lds adjacent christians, unmarried mormons (including the gays who stayed celibate until death), and other straight edge after death converts.
Terrestrial kingdom: pretty much like earth, but better, and minus the TBM's 👀
Anyway, I'll be hosting board game night every Tuesday in my spirit Yurt, who's in?

I don't remember if he mentioned Kimball, but it was basically the Kimball answer to the question, and that I would never have to worry about being cast into outer darkness. That being said, I will gladly go to the telestial. All the coolest people will be there!!

I grew up believing this: might be true, might be false, but it was my understanding…
In order to be a son (or daughter) of perdition, you had to have seen a physical manifestation of Christ, usually in the temple. I had heard this was the most impossible sin to commit, because in order to commit it, you had to have “your calling and election made sure” meaning: you are a prophet, or were called to be one, or an apostle, or you saw Jesus in the temple, or you received your second anointing.
But that was my understanding. Others may have a loser or tighter interpretation depending on their upbringing, I think.
Seems there’s a lot of Mormons who think a lot of different things about a lot of different things. Like “what’s the f*ck is doctrine anyways”?!???
… wrote this part way thru the video. Seems I was brought up on the Spencer Kimpbal view of the Mormon world. Maybe I’ll be joining you in hell. Oh well. Seems hell gonna be a much funner place with you there.
Wait, you have tattoos. You might be in a lower level of hell than me. I don’t have piercings OR tattoos. I guess the only way we meet is if I visit you. Shit.

Well I left the Mormon Church and am now a Christian. Normally in Mormon theology, Christians go to either the Terrestrial Kingdom. BUT because I left the Mormon Church, the faith in Christ that I now possess is invalid and is as if I don’t believe at all. So in their view, ex-Mormon Christians go to outer darkness. So yay us!

Oh my god. This is so funny when you learn to contemplate your-self deeply. YOU are not going anywhere and neither is anyone ‘else.’ YOU are already here, where you’ve always been. All this shit about heaven and hell is a state of mind. As we let go of fear, (conditioning) we find we’ve been in heaven (innocence/peace) all along. Thanks for the video Lex. Sending love to all.

It is up for interpretation but I think I would be Telestial because I have never been baptized a Mormon or taken part in ordinances, so I think I can avoid Outer Darkness. Will not qualify for Terrestrial because I don’t have a testimony of Jesus Christ.

If failing to follow the prophets gets you into shitty 3rd-tier heaven, then we should be seeing a lot of 'true-believing' modern-day Mormons in there. They fail to follow *all* their prophets **all the time**. No one *could* follow them all because they contradict each other so much. It's just hilarious to consider "following the prophets" a criterion for salvation...it's not a thing that could even be done if someone really wants to because their doctrine is so ridiculously self-contradictory and inconsistent!
