I’m watching this because a buddy of mine got the G3 as his very first pistol. Just checking up on it. Looks legit for the price point. Now we gotta take it to the range sometime... cool video.
I own more expensive guns glocks beretta sig but my carry gun is the Taurus g3 and the g2c as my backup. They have proven to be every bit as reliable as my more expensive ones. I changed my sights on the g3 and the g2c I changed the sights and trigger on it.
@@travisp11 yes that's going to be lots of fun at the range . I couldn't believe they was 26 dollars the 15 and 17 round magazines are 36 dollars. Jack hook if it's the promag 32 round magazine, you may benefit from looking into issues with it. Yeah, on the next trip Im gonna put a bit more index on it to pull back to the right a bit. Second group convinced me that it may not be the sights after all.
Good review. Good shooting. Once you're used to it, I'm sure you'll center up -- give yourself some time and practice with the new gun. It's very light for it's size. Thanks.
I hope your wrists are stronger a year later. You get alot of flip in this video. That third shot rise is from your lack of forearm and shoulder muscle group engagement. Nice accurate fire on the single shot static stuff though.
Thank you! I want to adjust the sights and see if I can shoot it better. May have been that 115gr. and the barrel just arent as compatible as I had hoped. The 124 gr. was solid.
I should've been more specific, I meant the G2S .40 cal, but that's the one I'm going to try out!!!! I still love your channel because it's clear to the point and straight forward!!!!!
Hi Travis! I'm going to change out the sights on the G3 when I buy it. Nothing wrong with the sight but Lakeline has a Blacked-out combat U-Notch rear sight. I'm not much into upgrading budget guns only by the time you do it it's half the price of the gun! Best to ya',,,,!
The PT111 G2 was one of the first pistols that really caught my attention as offering a tremendous value for a low price. Im glad to see it carries on with the sub $200 G2C!

Great vid and pretty good shooting Travis. Just received my G3 and was worried about accuracy. Shop had one box of DTX 115gr fmj's. The gun spewed em out in a shotgun pattern, 12" at 23yds. Even bench rested to make sure it wasn't me. Have some hope after video because I wanted to use a 124gr round anyways. But I do like the pistol other than that. Takes a little bigger budget nowadays for the gun ($309) and a huge budget for ammo (0.0).
If you can, start close, like 3-5 feet and slowly work your way back. Double check and make sure you are flinching or shaking your hand just as you pull the trigger. If it is consistently off, try to adjust the sights and if that doesn't do it, send it in. That is a crazy wide group and the G3s are now made in Georgia instead of Brazil so I hope the Georgia factory didnt have a run of barrels that were bored off center. If I hear of others telling me the same thing I may make a video on it.
@@travisp11 Umm, I should have put the rule to it before spouting off, 9 1/2" group, with the first 3 shots 7" high. Thanks for the reply. My first striker, first 12 rounds out of G3, could of been a lot of me in that group.
@@mrkwnklr Some guns take more practice than others. Take the Glock G43. For some reason I could not hit the broad side of a barn with it. Took me at least 100-150 rounds to really feel like I knew where the shots would land accurately.
I've been shooting all types of guns for over 40 years and this is the first time I've ever heard of someone complaining about frame not being "grippy" enough for your thumbs.
@@travisp11 Good luck, check your sources daily and be ready to snap one up as soon as it becomes available, because in this climate they are gonna go FAST lol
Each review I have seen stresses the fact that it sells for around $250. As good as this pistol shoots and with features comparable to any polymer, striker fired pistol regardless of the cost, such comments are not necessary. I have put 200 rounds thru mine with no problems whatsoever. The trigger is a great improvement over the G2 and is comparable to my 1911's. It probably will be my new EDC gun if I encounter no problems in further evaluations.
I only mention the price to save time down the road on answering questions about how much I paid for it. While I agree, I only mention it to save time.
People stress the price because there is a stigma that the only quantifier of quality is price!!! Guys get triggered, because they figure a 250 dollar gun better damn well not work or shoot as good as their 500+ whatever they got!!!

You dont have any picatinny rails on the back or top of the firearm. You may find a rear sight mount that takes the place of the rear sight and installs an optic plate but for now, you dont have any options for a red dot up on top. If you mean a laser, you can mount one on the picatinny rail.
sounds like the rounds are hitting the feeding ramp when you pull the slide forward, that or the rounds may be out of spec if the gun wont let you pull back the slide in order to charge the first round. Have you tried Hornady Critical Defense? Also, when you go to chamber the first round, try releasing the slide from the sldie stop/slide release button instead of pulling on the slide to chamber the first round.
I like the review and I discovered something also. Given your vid I am saying the G3 likes heavier loads. I picked one up because I have purchased several other Taurus in the last year and I have found the quality to be outstanding. However when I first fired the G3 I was all over the paper and thought to myself Oboy...a lemon. Today I took it to the range with 3 different types of ammo. The original 115gr I tried from ammo incorporated, 115gr Federal aluminum case and 124gr Blazer brass. Target was placed at 21 feet indoors. The ammo inc was everywhere inside the 7 ring. There were 3 FTF that I had to slap the slide into battery. Noticed light recoil. The Federal had a few in the 8 ring but most tight in the 9 ring. The 124gr...half in the red. The rest all in a tight 1.5 inch group in the 9 just under the center ring 150 rounds plus 50 the first time. Seems my girl does NOT like the 115gr TMC Ammo Incorporated. She likes the 124 Blazer.
Took mine to the range for the first time. I used 115gr and ran some accuracy drills at 3, 5, 7 and 10 yards. Consistently shot low. Was feeling a little disappointed. After seeing these comments, I’ll try higher grain ammo next time to see if I have better results.
Just a thought, when shooting at different distances, use different targets or different points on the target. thanks for the review, going to pick one up when the FDE comes out.
Very good job. It is a nice pistol. Personally I find myself still wanting a little more and sometimes save money just going for a better model. That`s just me.
mine shoots the same. horrible accuracy but with practice you can definitely use it for self defense. as long as you don't forget it shoot way left and low. I have a SW22 victory and that thing shows you just how bad the taurus accuracy is. i've put about 500 rds through my taurus and can hit a 3" steel at 20 yrds 12 out of 17 times. but i'm aiming way up above and right of the target itself. if you aim at the target you wont hit it. I've also fired 124 and 147 grain hollow points from it and can't hit a 12x18 target with them. it's a piece of shit. the SW22 I can aim dead center of the steel at 20 yards and hit it every time.
I've had mine for maybe a month I've shot only blazer 115 gr fmj and I've noticed it shoots to the left at about 25yds I have to significantly aim to the right of my target to get a nice group its fucked up man idk if it's just the ammo or the gun
Also, try a bit more finger on the trigger. I used to consistently shoot low and to the left on everything with multiple firearms and it turns out I was squeezing my pinky on the grip, too.
@poop6016 Here is Nebraska you need a purchase permit in order to buy a handgun or pistol. It is ridiculous because you already have to go through a backgrond check at the time of purchase anyway.
I strongly dislike gun owners referencing a truck gun and if gets lost/stolen no big deal....it is a big deal if gun is stolen/found, and someone is killed with that weapon. It is now on you to prove it was actually reported as lost or stolen. Failure to report weapons lost or stolen becomes an act of negligence on gun owners part. Just my take.
I don't think they're saying it thinking about that. If a $250-$300 weapon is lost or stolen, that's more acceptable than a gun that costs two or three times that amount. I certainly understand your point, but most people aren't thinking about someone getting shot by that lost or stolen weapon.
👍(SUBd) Bought the G2c, trigger disappointing but like the grip. Picked up the G3 a few days ago. ($258 Grabagun) Haven’t shot it yet but I see that I’ll need grip tape for my thumb. While I don’t get too excited w/ today’s plastic guns, I like to see what’s out there under $300 w/ copies of a shi*ty Glock. Thx for the video👍✌️🇺🇸
@@travisp11 -my G3 trigger overall is better than the G2c. I think my Walther PPQ M2 (LE) is the best overall plastic pistol I own. Just great straight outta the box. Most of my 9mm 🔫 have issue w/ 147 grain cartridges. Not the Walther. Basically I just stay w/ 124gr. Underwood ammo for "my" best results. 🇺🇸👍✌️
Your growth is too loose. Right thumb over left should be tighter. Memory dimple is compromised. This is critical when firing. Please work on your grip.
My thing is I owned a Taurus semi auto years and years ago. I can’t remember what model it was but it was a total pos. Failure to feed, failure to extract jammed all the time. I can’t get past that to buy another Taurus. If you bought A cheap car that kept breaking down would you buy another one just like it? No. You would upgrade to something more reliable. If my Glock starts failing me I will upgrade to something else and not buy another Glock in the future.
Nice review, but as a former combat veteran, this is a shit and get gun. Dont eorrt about accuracy at closing range. If it cycles its good. And at this many magazines, who cares. I'm talking strictly combat situations
Bought one of these and every time I’ve shot it it’s jammed up on me the first couple of times. Shot it 3 different times each time I put about 30-50 rounds in it. Feels great. Very unreliable
Aaron Hernandez: When you say "jammed up" are you talking Failure to Eject, Failure to Feed, or something else? I'd hate to think your recoil spring was too "tight" since these are assembly line made. I've used Federal red box FMJ, Winchester red & white box FMJ, Remington green box FMJ, and Fiocchi JHP (all normal load, not +P) without a problem. Cleaned and oiled it before going to the range, then after each 150 rounds.Use some solvent and go through scrubbing out all the factory carbon (slide, barrel, spring, firing pin assembly) then oil lightly (I use a small paint brush or Q-Tips for the smaller areas) then try again. Edit: I use a hard bristle tooth brush and sometimes a denture toothbrush for scrubbing.See if any of that helps.Good luck, mate!
Not much going on just sitting here picking lent out of my belly button , wife went shopping again with her friends to which I really dont give a damn ,,
travisp11 Im sure there are lots of different experiences with Taurus firearms. Mine are as follows: I’ve had great luck with Taurus revolvers and consider them to be excellent. Every Taurus semiauto I have ever owned has been a pile of poop. I like the way they look. I like the fact that they are low priced. But I have yet to find one that is reliable. The last one I owned was a PT 111 Millennium. Not only was the point of aim waaaaay off but it jammed often. The last time I shot it it literally fell apart in my hands half way through a magazine! After searching around in the dirt to retrieve all the parts I took it to a gunsmith and gave it to him. With the caveat that it was unsuitable for human consumption and that I wanted it decommissioned and ffl records to indicate it was no longer in my possession. Now thats pretty bad. I’ve owned hundreds of guns. I’ve shot thousands. I have many friends who own Taurus pistols and I’ve seen them fail more than any brand I’ve had experience with. And my friends defend those failures and ignore those failures repeatedly even though they carry for defensive purposes. If a gun is for the purpose of defense, it had better work. So to sum it up- I will never ever be an owner of a Taurus semi auto pistol. Ever. They are dead to me.
travisp11 Yeah. I guess when you get into the realm of inexpensive firearms it’s more likely to experience inconsistent quality issues. It just seems that once you lose confidence in a firearm brand it’s next to impossible to ever feel confident in them again.
well there's hundreds of thousands of people who would disagree with you. And since the g2c has been one of the best selling pistols of all times lately it brings your opinion and story into question. But I'm sure your right and everybody else is wrong. *eyes roll* Your right about kaka being here but I doubt it has anything to do with the g3, g2c, g2... Your description of mechanical issues, ie, "fell apart" means nothing. At this point i'd say it's you not knowing how to assemble it or just make believe cause your a hater.

I’m watching this because a buddy of mine got the G3 as his very first pistol. Just checking up on it. Looks legit for the price point. Now we gotta take it to the range sometime... cool video.
Thanks for watching! The G3 is a great pistol all around.

Welcome to the channel!
I love my G3 and plan on buying the full size version from Taurus, the TH9, for some single-double action fun.
Id love to pick up a TH40 compact. There are some pretty good deals out there on the TH9, or at least there was before recent panic buying events.
I own more expensive guns glocks beretta sig but my carry gun is the Taurus g3 and the g2c as my backup. They have proven to be every bit as reliable as my more expensive ones. I changed my sights on the g3 and the g2c I changed the sights and trigger on it.
There is quite a bit out there for the G2C for hop up parts. I can’t wait to see what comes out for the G3!
@@travisp11 I ordered a 32 round clip from Taurus for my g3 its listed under magazines for the g2c for 26 dollars.

@@travisp11 yes that's going to be lots of fun at the range . I couldn't believe they was 26 dollars the 15 and 17 round magazines are 36 dollars. I guess because people don't want a 32 round magazine hanging out of their gun.lol ps the 32 round does come with a plastic stop to keep magazines from going in to far too.
Jack hook if it's the promag 32 round magazine, you may benefit from looking into issues with it. I know it's a range toy type thing but I've seen several guys say they've had to put extended springs in those mags, and some that mention "doubling the springs"....idk how they properly double it but its apparently a thing lol

Good review. Good shooting. Once you're used to it, I'm sure you'll center up -- give yourself some time and practice with the new gun. It's very light for it's size. Thanks.

Yeah, they need that slight adjustment. Thanks for watching!
A navy seal has a video on UA-cam called focusing on your front sight....watch it.....very good instruction video.
I hope your wrists are stronger a year later. You get alot of flip in this video. That third shot rise is from your lack of forearm and shoulder muscle group engagement.
Nice accurate fire on the single shot static stuff though.
Outstanding range review of the Taurus G3. Lets see more.
Thank you! I want to adjust the sights and see if I can shoot it better. May have been that 115gr. and the barrel just arent as compatible as I had hoped. The 124 gr. was solid.

Just bought a Taurus G 3. The rear sight on mine is narrow and solid black with no dots. Notice your rear sight is longer with two dots. What gives?
Weird. I wonder if they forgot to paint them. They aren’t the best so I recommend adding a drop of bright paint to each one or swapping them out.
On the g3c they went to non adjustable glock sights
Maybe they made a running change to the g3?
It’s a great pistol. These other gun companies are out pricing there self.
I agree!
I'll pick the g2c over glock 26 i won't the g3 now

I carry the PT111 G2, EDC, used to carry 1993 PT92, I like this, never fired G2, but my hand size appreciates better purchase,
The PT111 G2 was one of the first pistols that really caught my attention as offering a tremendous value for a low price.

Al Lo The plastic is slick other than the rough textured sections. It just felt smoother than other polymer frame pistols that I have fired.

Christopher Driver Thanks!
@@Wildwestwrangler Comment of the year lol! I totally agree!
Every video about this I've seen pulls to the left so at least I know what to do to make mine more accurate lol

Question. Can i put a red dot optic on the picanny rails in the back? If so which ones would be the best ? Sorry these are specific questions
You dont have any picatinny rails on the back or top of the firearm. You may find a rear sight mount that takes the place of the rear sight and installs an optic plate but for now, you dont have any options for a red dot up on top. If you mean a laser, you can mount one on the picatinny rail.
Thank you. Im bad at english
@@jnuggs2323 No problem.
Nice review. What ammo were you using for the steel targets?
124 gr Sport Shooter Ammunition with the polymer coated bullets.
I have taurus G3 and I tried hollow points but my slide will not rack back at all it locks up, anybody else had that issue
sounds like the rounds are hitting the feeding ramp when you pull the slide forward, that or the rounds may be out of spec if the gun wont let you pull back the slide in order to charge the first round.
The rest all in a tight 1.5 inch group in the 9 just under the center ring
150 rounds plus 50 the first time. Seems my girl does NOT like the 115gr TMC Ammo Incorporated. She likes the 124 Blazer.
Captain Codebook did you clean it before you took it out? I’ve seen it before where a heavier grain round cycles certain pistols better than others.
Took mine to the range for the first time. I used 115gr and ran some accuracy drills at 3, 5, 7 and 10 yards. Consistently shot low. Was feeling a little disappointed. After seeing these comments, I’ll try higher grain ammo next time to see if I have better results.
good shot
Thanks!
The rear sight on my G3 is different. Looks off center.
They can be moved or drifted to help you hit center.
Just a thought, when shooting at different distances, use different targets or different points on the target. thanks for the review, going to pick one up when the FDE comes out.
I used to use 4 targets per range test but I switched so I could see all shots combined and if I had a tendency to shoot in one particular area.

$249 GREAT BUDGET GUN 👍
Yup!
mine shoots the same. horrible accuracy but with practice you can definitely use it for self defense. as long as you don't forget it shoot way left and low.
May need to try some aftermarket sights.
I've had mine for maybe a month I've shot only blazer 115 gr fmj and I've noticed it shoots to the left at about 25yds I have to significantly aim to the right of my target to get a nice group its fucked up man idk if it's just the ammo or the gun
Adjust the rear sight.
Also, try a bit more finger on the trigger. I used to consistently shoot low and to the left on everything with multiple firearms and it turns out I was squeezing my pinky on the grip, too.

And that is why I would immediately report my weapon as lost or stolen as soon as I discovered this.
I don't think they're saying it thinking about that. If a $250-$300 weapon is lost or stolen, that's more acceptable than a gun that costs two or three times that amount. I certainly understand your point, but most people aren't thinking about someone getting shot by that lost or stolen weapon.
does anyone know if this gun is legal in california ?
Good question. I would say no with it being so new.

While I don’t get too excited w/ today’s plastic guns, I like to see what’s out there under $300 w/ copies of a shi*ty Glock.
Thx for the video👍✌️🇺🇸
Trigger on the G3 and G3C are more glock like and way cleaner in my opinion.

Thank you! The G3 is a tricky gun to shoot well. Most gun channels don’t show shots on paper which is way more difficult and shooting 6” plates.

I don't blame ya. I refuse to purchase another SCCY handgun after having 2 fail.

Man I'm so mad how h the cost of these has gone up because of the election I had to pay 320 plus tax for my g3 smh lol
Yup. Prices on many guns are back to full MSRP or more.
Bought one of these and every time I’ve shot it it’s jammed up on me the first couple of times. Shot it 3 different times each time I put about 30-50 rounds in it. Feels great. Very unreliable
Are you running steel case ammo? Also, did you clean it before taking it out? I know that it shouldnt matter, though.
Sounds like crappy ammo. 550 rounds through mine now w/o a single malfunction.
travisp11 no steel case. I cleaned it after the first time I took it out. Tried 3 different amo brands. Sand results:/
Eric Redbear wish I could say the same. Tried 3 different amo types

Taurus semiauto pistols are kaka.
Why? We have several and have no issues. They go bang and do so for very little $$$.
travisp11
Im sure there are lots of different experiences with Taurus firearms.
Max Headspace9mm Fair enough. I gave up on SCCY for many of the same reasons.
travisp11
Yeah.
