  • The next video in the series is here! I really enjoy bringing Tolkien's characters to life with the creative power that AI provides. Hopefully you enjoy watching the video as well!
This video includes some of the prominent members of the Houses of Fingolfin and Finarfin. And, before you rush to the comments, yes I forgot Fingon... Sorry.
Feel free to comment what you would like to see next, and subscribe if you want to support what I'm doing here.

Where is Finrod , the first son of Finarfin? Beautiful pictures.

Thanks! It seems I forgot to include Finrod... I just realised that, although I had his images ready, I didn't include him. I am planning on an "utimate edition" video that includes all of Finwe's descendants, and I'll be sure to include Finrod there. I happen to be on holiday at the moment, and won't be able to publish until the new year, though. Enjoy your day!

The first picture of Aegnor is pretty good and I like how his hair actually looks a bit like a flame, like he's described to having.

Thanks! I'm quite proud of that image myself; AI can give you some "meh" results, and other times it generates pic's that are just perfect. This was definitely one of those times. I appreciate the comment!

Hi! Unfortunately, I forgot to include Finrod in this video... (I'll be sure that he gets into future videos) But, concerning Orodreth, my goal for this episode was to include just the first generation after Fingolfin and Finarfin. However, I do plan on making an extended video for Finwe's descendants soon!

Aegnor+Angrod & Galadriel are all younger siblings of Finrod... without Finrod you dont have Beren's life saved(By Finrod); which lead to Eärendil's saving the world by inspiring the Valar to help the free peoples of middle earth to put an end to Morgoth once and for all through what became the 80 year long War Of Wrath etc... then you also wouldn't have Elrond and Elros(Maybe born but there'd be no Númenor...

It is really cool to think about how even the smallest of plot lines or characters in the Silmarillion can change the course of Middle-earth's history. What if Thingol survived? What if Beren and Luthien never stole one of the Silmarils? The list goes on...

@@sandsoffantasy you could very well be the guy/or girl who creates a team to create those stories and how they could have panned out. I’d love to join you.

Okay. Why is it that Finarfin's wife Earwen is never mentioned in any UA-cam featured video. Did his children spawn by magic? You are forgetting a very important member of the family, and also a most tragic back story to the Silmarillion. Also, Fingolfin's wife, Anaire, should also be portrayed in the beautiful way. The Silmarillion was far much more than about the powerful fighters.

Argon, the youngest son of Fingolfin and Finrod, the eldest son of Finarfin are missing ! Orodreth was later rewritten by Tolkien as the son of Finarfin and not the son of Angrod ! Then Gil Galad also became the son of Orodreth because otherwise it would have been theft of the throne from Turgon when Fingon died, because then Gil Galad would have already become king as the son of Fingon !

Thanks for commenting! Honestly, it was a mistake on my part to not include Finrod; I just forgot to include his pictures. My intentions for this video were just to showcase the first generation after Fingolfin and Finarfin, like I did with my House of Feanor video. Of course, the sons of Indis have far more ancestors, so I drew the line at the first generation...
I don't quite follow your statements about Orodreth and Gil-galad, though. Yes, Gil-galad was the son of Orodreth, but Orodreth was never from the line of Fingolfin, rather Tolkien always kept him in Finarfin's house (albeit changing his place therein). Turgon was the successor to Fingon son of Fingolfin, and the title of High King only passes to Finarfin's house after Turgon died in the Fall of Gondolin. At that point Finrod would have become King, but he had already died. Next in line would be Angrod or Orodreth (depending on whether Orodreth was Angrod's brother or son). Either way, Angrod and Aegnor were already dead as well, I believe. So no matter what, Orodreth would have become King (well, he died too, but hopefully the idea is clear) after Turgon, then finally Gil-galad would inherit the throne.
Whew! Anyway, let me know your thoughts and if I misunderstood anything from your side. Have a great day!

Orodreth was supposed to be some sort of son of Finrod or of Angrod or Aegnor.... or some sort of descendant of Turgon or Gil-Galad.

    • @sandsoffantasy

Thanks for commenting! The thing with the Houses of Fingolfin and Finarfin is that both last into the third age. Just taking a look at the family trees you'll find that a complex web of elves (as well as men and half-elves) are descended from these houses. Elrond and Aragorn, for example, are technically descended from Fingolfin. So, I thought it would be better to include only the first generation following the two sons of Indis. If it's any consolation, Maeglin's father did stress that Maeglin was "of the house of Eol" and that he, as his father, had a stronger claim on Maeglin. However, maybe he'll make it into a future video? Anyway, have a great day!

@@sandsoffantasyElrond is more related to Elwë(Elu Thingol), Lúthien, Beren, Dior, Elwing, Eärendil, and connected to others via Indis of the Vanyar and especially Idril who was mother of Eärendil...

      @sandsoffantasy  4 місяці тому +1

There is only so many images one can include in a video, especially when it already has quite a lot of characters :) The wives of these elves don't really come up many times in the Silmarillion; many never even married. Thanks for asking, though!
