Thanks for opening up on this topic. This has been bothering me for many years now. Nurses and nursing across the globe are not looked up to and respected. Doctor's illtreat us, patients consider it as cheap work, what's more is people think hundred times before marrying a nurse.
In reality, nurses are the very backbone of the entire healthcare system. If they stop working the entire healthcare system will collapse, which is the only thing that might probably open the eyes of one and all , to the amount of responsibilities that we shoulder. Infact I have seen the best of nurses guide doctor's to do things the right way. They work as nurses, take responsibility of janitors, pathologist, pharmacists and mainly doctor's. Any deterioration in the patient is reported to a doctor by the nurse and they are called for.
The amount of work that they do mentally and physically is infinite times more than the work of all those combined together, yet they are underpaid and not respected.
But I believe that nurses and the system are to be blamed as well. Since they too give undue importance to doctor's. Words like Doctor's orders should be changed to doctor's requests. Also, the nurse in charge needs to understand that they are incharge of the entire ward and doctor's units are under them....UNDER. I do believe that teamwork is important, but get respect and give respect.
Funny as it may sound, doctor's consider themselves to be intelligent, that too self proclaimed. I mean considering the amount of years they are taught by the best of mentors and In and out of everything, by that time even Shekhchilli would have become Einstein, yet we see the most dumbest of doctor's around us who make mistakes and put the blame on others in utter denial and displacement. Oh my and the amount of arrogance they showcase is simply mind blowing. They probably forget that even the creator( and his messengers) who not only created them but this entire cosmos, and that too with precision without making a single error ever does not order anyone, ain't arrogant and does not demean anyone.
What's worst is they haven't even learnt the most crucial lesson of life which they learn on the very first day, that life is unpredictable and one never knows what's left in store for them.... a vegetative life, or they are moments away from turning around from riches to rags. Yes, they do take the Hippocritic oath to serve the poor, unhealthy and needy, but all they do is run behind money and only live up to the name of the oath ie. act like hippocrites. Modesty is key to teamwork and even in everyday life.
Also one never knows these so called intelligent doctor's who demean people around them, might someday end up working at a hospital that the person once looked down upon eventually owns. One never knows.
A person like Ambani , Modi can run the them and make them run.
Nurses and their roles were different back then during the time of Florence Nightingale,, even then cross contamination , phototherapy and more came to light due to nurses, but times and job roles have changed drastically, and if doctor's don't want to accept that then let them do all the work that they should be actually doing as doctor's....applying veinflows, giving injections, medicines etc. and only solely being held responsible for any error. We would be happy to do what was only nursing for the amount of respect and pay that we get......which would give them a taste of their own poison and open their eyes.
All this and much more needs to be fixed eventually.
Nurses need to be the change to bring the change.❤

Indian situation is as similar as Bangladesh. Why these people are so bad? Here also, every doctors hate nurses. One day while I was in emergency department, I saw doctors wanted to change their seat because there are emergency nurses seat beside them! Can you imagine how this feel? I was completely broken. Here Nurses Superintendents and Incharge always torture junior nurses by their tongue. I felt sick when i did my internship. After licensing exam its almost 5 month I'm not doing any job because I'm traumatised.

Exactly 💯 you are very much true. Some nurses specially who are In government sector of India, they are very rude and don't know how to treat their colleague's. I personally experienced this In India. I fought for that.😊
I have seen hospitals whose doctor lounges are bigger than the patient's room, if this is the mentality to gain protocol even in the matter of life and death then we cannot be human.
