    I don't know how people get thru the day without a pocket knife. I went to High School in a little town in Ky. Very rural everyone knew everyone type place . I traded and sold knives every boy had a Buck 110 on his belt nobody ever thought anything about it. The biggest part of us had to go to work after school anyhow.There was always something needed doing if Tobacco didn't need something done we hauled hay fed the animals on the farm always work to do. and you needed your knife it wasn't a weapon it was a tool. It was a big part of life and we didn't even realize it. Thank You your video sparked a lot of old memories I like your channel very good presentation

    Coming up in the sixties, I had a small pen knife that my dad got me at a business that handed them out to customers. Later as I got older, I realized that a pocket knife was a necessity for me so I have carried one since I was seven years old. Anyone that ever says that they don't need a pocket knife for every day carry are the same ones that are always borrowing mine. I always carried a knife at school with no problems. I have seen people freak out whenever someone pulled a pocket knife out to use as a TOOL. People like that are very strange to me. I say, get you a good little pocket knife and then you can stop borrowing mine. Great video, thanks for sharing.

    This video is right up my alley. I took my knife collection to show and tell in the 3rd grade. I still have the case my dad made me to carry them to school. I also have quite a collection of vintage Case knives and also take them apart and restore some. Dad bought a Kodak Retina 1b when he was stationed in Germany 1954 I have never seen the camera used by mom or dad in my lifetime. Dad passed in February so I’ve been going through things and I Rediscovered the camera. It looks like brand new and the best part…..A spent 36 picture roll of film inside that wasn’t even wound back up. Hopefully the pictures will develop. I Enjoyed the video. Oh, I play acoustic guitar too.

      Those Kodak Retinas are pretty cool. I have a IIa and a Ia. The IIa is featured in my latest video on my photography channel.

    Peanuts are just perfect. Big blade for daily use (opening boxes, slicing an apple or parting a sandwich. Thin blade just for sharpening pens. :) Sleeps well in the pocket or the wallet, just like the smaller SAK :)

    I love Case knives. I'm actually preparing to purchase a couple of the peanut models: The smooth yellow handle and the brown jigged workman handle which is what you have there.

    I have somewhere between 20 to 30 Case knives. My favorite one is a fat stag handle Peanut. It is also the most perfect Case I own. Perfect half stops on both blades and perfect fit and finish. This little knife is a fine knife for everyday carry.

    I bought a peanut several years ago and was never without it. Then, I lost/misplaced it. Bought another peanut, this one with a nice antler/bone handle. (At least the salesman told me the antler/bone was genuine.) As luck would have it, I found the first peanut and now I have two. But, your video showed me how to compare/contrast them. I agree the older knife has more rounded bolsters (sp?) and the Case logo is different, both on the handle and the main blade. The “handles” on the antler/bone knife make it a little thicker than the synthetic handle, which stands to reason. One other difference is if I hold the older one just right, I can see where the pin that secures the blades goes through the front bolster. Anyway, I enjoyed the video review. Thanks.

    Great intro to the Case Peanut. I collect Case knives and the peanut is one I don't yet have. I was at Atwoods today and they have this exact knife from the video in a clam pack. I thought about it but decided against the brown synthetic and will get one with another handle material. It's not because I don't care for the brown synthetic, but I have a Case small stockman in that material already and they are very similar. I think I will get one in 6.5 bone stag. I carry a sheathed canoe or stockman regularly as my EDC, but the collection knives stay unused and on display. So far my favorite Case is the Mini Copperlock.

    Cool video. I liked learning about your other hobbies, especially the music. As a guitar player for 30 + yrs, I’ve expanded my instruments I play, to include mandolin, piano, bass, and other stringed instruments. I started collecting pocket knives a few years ago, and I’m no learning how to restore and fix slipjoints, by watching your channel and others. And I’ve gotta say, being a musician has helped with the knife stuff, because I already have very good hand eye coordination, and don’t fumpher around like some ppl. You should show some of your stringed instruments some time. Keep up the good work!

      Including some instruments in a video would probably be a fun idea! I am currently teaching myself tenor guitar tuned CGDA. Being tuned in fifths, it will make learning mandolin easier. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    While teaching at a rural high school, I sent several boys to the principal because I caught them using pocket knives on projects, and whatnot. Eventually, the principal called me into his office and asked me to stop. He explained that it was a rural school, and the boys carried pocket knives everywhere, and he had no problem with it. After that, of course, I just ignored it when I saw it.

    I'm a grandmother and I have had a pocket knife in my purse most of the time. In college it was a big ol' Schrade hunter. More recently, it's been a Leatherman but that is kinda heavy. I am going to smaller and lighter knives for my purse to keep weight down.

    I have a small 3 blade yellow case pocketknife on which the middle blade does not fully close thus leaving the point of the blade slightly exposed. I have poked my finger on that blade a couple of times. I am looking for a video that shows how to completely disassemble the knife and fix the problem. Thank you.

    • @workbenchknifeandtool
      @workbenchknifeandtool  Рік тому +1

      Unfortunately, disassembling a pocket knife like the Case is not an easy task. There may be some videos out there on disassembling that type of knife but I think I would send it back to Case and let them correct it. I would imagine they would do so under warranty.

    • @Mikes_Life
      @Mikes_Life Рік тому +4

      You can also take a little bit of material off the kick of the blade and it will allow the blade to sit deeper in the handle when it’s folded and hopefully drop the point down so it doesn’t poke you in the finger.

    Case were the King of the Peanut pattern. I would only own a pre 1973 Case when they were still great quality and still family owned. Old Case Stag scale Peanuts are awesome. The Senator pattern known as Eisenhower's were awesome small gentleman's knives also and the small Senators were nice too.

      It seems in many things that the materials and hand work of the past are replaced with synthetics and automation. Skilled craftsmen seem increasingly to be a thing of the past except for custom makers. A sad reality of the world we live in.
