Ohhh yes. Good characters are #1 (or atmosphere). Story is... neat, and I certainly like things to make sense in a whodunnit, but other than that it's secondary. I was gonna say there's been a couple times when the story quality became kinda jarring... But I think in all of the cases I can think of it's because the story was pushed into the foreground, unrolling all sorts of epic plot twists and intrigue and explosions... leaving no room for the characters, when that's the main thing I was there for. But I guess different people appreciate different things in media ^_^ Cool video, as always!
Very much agree the characters in "The Big Lebowski" really carried the movie. John Goodman's "Walter" character really stole the show, but that's not saying much since everybody else was fantastic; Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore and Philip Seymour Hoffman. I mean, even Steve Buscemi's minor character was done very well.
I Always felt a bit sympathetic about the Jesus: of course, I'm not condoning his crimes, but It seems to represent a total loser who doesn't work in the real society, but he's a God (pun intended) through the pins. Surely someone has said this before, just wanted to point out a positive about an absurd character.
I appreciate the sentiment, but I would just say if that was their goal, to me there are a lot of better ways the Coens could've gone about depicting that kind of character than how they chose to write Jesus.
@@SelectScreen I see your point, and probably Quintana is little more than a funny caricature (though iconic) of a weirdo, but I also think that these characters are quite realistic in their somewhat cringy, absurde and sometimes irrational behaviour, so I can't see Jesus exclusively as a comedic mask. Having said that, thanks for the video and the comment: let's all hope that Going Places will be at least enjoyable :)!

A nice hard tone shift between this and the next one on the list
Believe me, you have no idea.
The rug really tied the room together.

NAM!!!!!
Excellent video in what's been a fantastic series so far. I'm very much looking forward to your thoughts on Black Swan.
I think The Jesus really tied the film together
I just guess this shows us that we are still limeted by how we think and not about what is or why.
