Fun artistic fact: both Charlie Kaufman and Christopher Nolan appropriated the trope of infinite regression from Jorge Luis Borges.
I like to study the evolution of artists and who influenced their work the most. Both Kaufman and Nolan are interested in solipsism and the nature of meaning unhinged from a character's subjectivity. Kaufman is more into fantastic realism like Franz Kafka, while Nolan prefers gritty realism like Michael Mann. Someone could write a whole book on the parallels and distinctions between these two artists.

Oh yeah, I love Adaptation. Although the meta-narrative was trippy, I loved it because I thought the characters were compelling, trying to piece reason and find logic in this universe where reality and fiction start to blur. And as someone studying script-writing at the time, there was a lot I felt with Charlie's character, about having to handle some elitist, unwritten rules of scriptwriting and such. Just like you, I always wanted to make stories and I think in story-like manners, although when I was a kid, I had a firm idea that I wanted to make comics. I still want to, and I am still doing it.
Let's see what AKIRA's gonna bring.

Thanks Clown, glad you liked the video. I admittedly know very little about making comics, but from what I've seen of your stuff, it definitely seems like you have a good grasp on what you're doing. Nice to see someone finding their passion and going after it.

Wow, this spoke to me on a whole new level. I find myself stuck in that loop, that hunger to perfect ourselves, to be great everytime.
Thank you for giving me perspective. Thank you for giving me hope.
    Thank You.

Had much love for Being John Malcovich. Was excited for more Jonze/Kaufman. Bullied friends into an opening night. Didn't dig it. You've sold me on a rewatch.

I barely know anyone who had a good answer to "what do you wanna be when you grow up". Maybe we should let that question die. And with it the whole idea of a 'dream job' or 'finding your one passion'. Heck the only person I know who knew from early on what they 'wanted to be' picked that carreer specifically because it let them explore many different things. And even now they say they'd need many more than one life to explore all of the things they're interested in.
