- Every other Monday for the entirety of 2019, I'll be releasing a new video in a series I'm calling The Defining 25, a look back at the 25 most influential films in my life to explore why these movies were so important to me, and what they mean to me now. UPDATE: So, yeah... the original plan of doing one of these videos every other week didn't really work out. I could've kept up that pace, but it also would've meant not doing any of the other videos outside of this series that I wanted to do. So I'm still going to be making my way through all these movies, just at a slower rate than originally planned. Apologies.
Ayyy, I watched three of those.
Sounds like a cool premise, what with the having fond memories and exploring if things still hold up or how they've changed. Looking forward to those videos.
Well... unfortunately I quietly gave up on the series 4 videos in when it started to feel like I was just making the same video over and over again. Maybe I'll find a different angle on the idea someday, but this one just wasn't it. Live and learn I suppose.
I'll still enjoy those first four I'm sure ^_^ Just the "making the same video over and over" bit is interesting though. Like, even with all those different kinds of movies they apparently all have something in common. Or the way you 'view' them is the same/similar for all of them.
But yeah, being able to see that a thing isn't working out and moving on is a skill not everybody has :)
It was really just more an issue with the overall premise. While all those movies may be different, the person I was in the past and the person I am now are always going to be the same, so although some of the specifics in each video might have been unique, the ideas at the heart of each one never changed. And so at a certain point it just felt like I was repeating myself, and all that time could've been better used to make more interesting things instead.
Mh, yeah I get that. I guess it can be interesting to see how facettes of oneself reflect different media over time, but that's probably more of a personal journey, maybe less interesting to waffle on about to strangers haha.
I honestly can't wait for these videos! 2019 is looking great already.

I can't wait to get to Prometheus. That movie gets such a bad rap, but I really love it and am ready to defend it to the death.

If I made a Defining 25 list for myself, Princess Mononoke would definitely be on it.
The only reason Mononoke shouldn't be on someone's list would be if they hadn't seen it yet. ; )
