Marwa when you choose a significant counterpart be sure that she is an authentic person who loves and respect herself, and loves her Creator. Vet her out and make sure she is not with you for an ulterior motive of selfishness to gain from what you already have. You are a good person and you deserve a Queen who is in alignment with who you are. One Divine Love my Brother. 💜 🌺

One of the thing I remember from a month-long visit to Germany a few years ago was how I was able to find some really, really good deals on food at the grocery story. Usually it was stuff that simply had to be sold that day or thrown away, and it was marked down considerably. If you wanted to, you could simply walk to the grocery store every day, buy whatever was on sale, and just make a day's worth of meals out of that. There's just not an equivalent system where I live in the US. Grocers would rather throw food away than to heavily discount it.

I came across your Channel. I traveled when I was younger doing summer jobs abroad. I relocated to Jamaica and only came back to the UK for work as a part-time flight attendant, from 5 years old I stayed with my grandfather upon the hills until I was ten as my mama wanted me back and I promised myself when I was older my destiny was to come back and I fulfilled my dreams, the best decision I made. Up in the hills is the most peaceful life, good food, and vitamin D from the sun, pick my own food, and have learned so much about herbs. I'm truly happy.

iam_marwa That ackee fruit tree you saw, is originally from Africa; West Africa to be exact and was introduced to Jamaica by Captain Bligh's mission to replenish and customize the tropical food supplies of the Caribbean and other places the days of Chattel Slavery. Also, the breadfruit trees, mangoes and others except for the star apple, naseberry, pimiento and others that are native to Jamaica.
That young lady from the USA really knows what she's saying, she really learnt a lot and spoke exactly as it is. Also, I'm happy that the views on walking barefooted came up. The reason, a few years ago I remembered ridiculing an argument you made while on a visit to Tanzania about being poor wearing sandals. I was scolded by one of your homies for arguing in the opposite. Of course, I didn't mean anything bad really but now that that young lady expressed the importance of walking barefooted as a healthy way of healing the body by interaction with the earth's energies will dispel the thoughts of others who felt belittled going without shoes occasionally. Another point to made is that that yellow viny weed that wrapped around the top of the plant you said also existed in Africa is called dodder as well as "love bush" in Jamaica. It was good hearing your views on it re-tainting with blood etc. And as you may know, it is also a parasitic plant and is used as an herbal medicine in Jamaica as well. Keep enjoying. I'm just an elder watching the younger generation a good time. Bless 🙏🏿.

It came from Africa on necklaces and hand beads worn by enslaved Africans. What you are talking about is breadfruit and it isnt from Africa. Ackee isnt eaten in Africa so it never came as a source of food. For years, many in Jamaica died trying to eat Ackee before they got it right. Pimento aka all spice is native to Jamaica and is actually from Jamaica. Most mangoes in Jamaica are from Asia, not Africa

@intelmedgroup9320 I did not want to say anything but after I saw your comment, I changed my mind. Never have I been more frustrated with a Marwa video than this one. The poor young lady could not get a good answer through. He kept interrupting her! Don't get me wrong. Marwa is a nice person. I have nothing against him. However, he needs to learn how to listen. Also, he's a scatter brain. He cannot keep his mind on one thing for more than a second. He would be a phenomenal UA-camr if he could learn to be more patient and focussed. At this stage we all know a lot about him. But we need to know more about his guests than him. At various times it's as though he's competing with his guests! This woman was very interesting and had a lot of wisdom for her age but we learned very little about her, unfortunately. Anyway, I still thank Marwa for sharing the video. What a pity that it could all have been a much more useful experience but what can one do? This seems to be a permanent Marwa thing.

She is very correct. Europeans especially young people travel on a budget and make it. Backpackers from Europe have been all over Africa for decades. One thing with a lot of black people is we love to fake it unti we make it. There is one brother from the US who does youtube and stays in hostels and I have seen fellow brothers mostly African American clowing him for staying at a hostel. So you can imagine there are many who will actually not travel because they think they have to be in a resort which is not cheap. Last time I was in Jamaica i stayed at a resort costing about $300 per night and next time I will do AirBnB for the local experience.

One piece of advice I have for you is to learn how to allow people to complete what they are saying before you interject; on several occasions, the lady was explaining something, and you kept interjecting at crucial points. I know its not deliberate because you are passionate about what you do, but please try and be more sensitive and observant. Bless, bro, you are doing a great job.

They may have been a bit dramatic. I have visited Jamaica. I think we get the message which is you have to watch your partner in Jamaica because some of the guys do not care or respect boundaries. Hitting on married women or women accompanied by other men is not tolerated in most countries and could be reasons for a fight which is all unnecessary.

  • @ItsAuntieKaren
    @ItsAuntieKaren Рік тому +7

Lol! Marwa, you a Jamaican mon. Jumping fence and ting 😂 You can't buy anything in a tourist town btw. $3000 for a coffee, one small water and two juices is a rip off. Businesses in tourist towns charge the Jamaican equivalent of US dollars. That looks like a slush juice - those are like $500/600 each in a cafe. You didn't tell us the individual cost for each drink In a local shop or supermarket you could buy bottled fruit juices for about 350 each.
Also once you present yourself with an accent or dress touristy you gonna get a 'tourist' price.
But no, the prices you're being quoted in Negril, Ocho Rios or Montego Bay will be inflated and is not an authentic reflection of the Jamaican economy although we are having serious inflatin and shrinkflation. Plus we have like anywhere you go in the world, price gougers.
So what is happening here is a US pricing and then that's converted to the exchange rate like $150 for $1 US so your final price is gonna be very high.
I'm not aware of minimum wage rate across the board for work. Minimum wage is about $10K JMD a week since the last wage increase. But some employers will pay more.
Re Jamaican men, in tourist towns and Ive sen this in some African and poor islands you'll find a sex trade which tourism and tourist women have brought here and locals take advantage of it. So there's a Rent-a-Dread phenomenon, big in Negril and those parts.
I'm sorry the lady has experienced sexual harassment. Again it's because these are opportunists who feel all tourist women will want a good time. But we have a mix of personalities in Jamaica. You have decent men who would never approach a woman that way. We also decry that sort of behavior. If she was in Kingston and other cities she'd have a different experience. But sexism and sexual harassment is everywhere and is a disease of male socialization.
I hope she'll visit other parishes. Negril is really a different parish cultually. It attracts lots of hedonistic people. Each parish has a different vibe. Tourist areas have been corrupted ironically by tourists not the other way around.
But this was entertaining and you asked her some great questions. And she shared her perspective base on her experiences. We are not offended. It's her experience.
