I'm relieved to hear that there was no retcon with how many leaders there are. At the end of Shenmue 3 when Niao Sun said the Chi You Men will belong to her, I was worried they made Lan-Di the head guy. Learning that there's a sixth leader is insane
I’m 45 right now and I was making the last part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy my last games purchase. I so love Shenmue! If we don’t get anything by the time FFVIIR-3 drops I don’t ever see it happening.
Let's hope they sign a Shenmue 4 deal this year. It would be a shame if things end up like this. I know the game industry is going through tough times right now, but I'd like to believe that there are still cool publishers out there. Time will tell.
he should wait with making Shenmue 4 until AI becomes more efficient. grand games will be much cheaper to make in the future
Using UE5 and a tonne of things that can speed things up and bring costs down - surely a no brainer

I have a feeling Yu Suzuki would not do that
Shenue needs to think about doing a prequel to shenue 1
He is :)
I'm wondering if it would be best for him instead of trying to do a sequel to shenue 3 for a changeing format and see if he can just do a movie or or animated series and just complete the story that way. If it sounds good enough then make a game based off the TV series.
We'd love more Anime - if anyone wanted to pick it up - or even a manga
Nope dumb, I'd rather Yu-san die with it unfinished
At least the story could keep its integrity that way
If there is a part 4, they'll need to use the resources to cover more story and make up for the lack in 3. Part 3 dropped the ball and used the resources on a lot of useless things
I think they need to describe the game and just do a four-season animated series and if it sells good enough then do a game based off the animated series
And make real hazuki in the animated series more likeable
@@Chrissimpson-oo4qx They did an anime and it was terrible. They might have to try to release this in comic form because the game and anime route is a failure
@@Chrissimpson-oo4qx No. Absolutely not.
Ryo is the way he is very intentionally. You are meant to forget he's not you. He's an avatar.
And I do not want to think what localizers will do to it.
I'll jump off a cliff if some blue hair localizer has Ryo make a joke about how hard it is to make rent. (
No expert or nothng but wasn't Shenmue according to Yu Suzuki Himself as far as i Remember him saying in a Clip or a Interview wasn't the Story for the Games A 6 part Game Story ? Any News on the Anime Serason 2 of the show lately ?
In the recent interview he wanted 5 games - Anime Season 2 is still very unlikely unless someone like a Netflix picks it up.
@@ShenmueDojoVOD thx & the 6 games I heard i think around Shenmue III release
This is the same titile than the latest video, is this normal?
I really hope this game works because when I played Shenmue 3 since it was 18 years since Shenmue 2 came out in 2001 a few days before the 9/11 disaster, the ending of Shenmue 3 that came out 5 years ago in 2019 was all for nothing, but here is the other thing is that I was waiting for TLOU II and that was worse that I never seen a game got review bombed before in my life when I seen it on google reviews, metacritic and it was hated 4 years ago in 2020 really bad to the worse.
TLOU2 was not review bombed
It deserves the bad the reviews lol
TLOU1 was a mid game with a good story
Then TLOU2 screwed up the story
@@cornucopiaofthings Yeah well wait till HBO show of TLOU season 2 comes out in 2025 next year. I mean Pedro Pascal acted really great as Joel in the first season last year.
Could fund the rest of the saga once AI reaches inflection point....
Fingers crossed 🤞
10 years for two games. Than Yu is 75 years. I don't know about that. He could be dead by then. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
Why don't the shenmue dojo partner with ys net we are a big community do why don't shenmue dojo partner
I don't think we'd be able to find that sort of money between us.
@ShenmueDojoVOD I thought a partner meant a publisher I was saying let the fan base be the publisher
@@Peter_Hodge That would require a massive investment that we do not have. Publisher/partner is the same thing.
I really hope 4 is made and it actually progresses and finishes the story. Shenmue 3 was trash. Spent the whole game saving up money to learn the same move twice. Nothing else happened.
Oh yeah finally got to fight Lan Di the end and couldn’t land a punch. Nice one.
Despite the execution there's quite a big change to the status quo in 3.
Ryo losing the mirror, the Niao Sun betrayal of Lan Di. That's huge.
Also Ryo couldn't even hit Grandmaster Bei, Xiuying, Sun and more besides. How did you expect him to hit Lan Di?
He's also said he'd like 2 more games. How realistic that is? I've seen nothing to suggest it is and that's the unfortunate truth. But we keep pushing.
Would’ve made a lot more sense and been a lot more satisfying if one of the two identical moves we spent the whole game learning was a QTE prompt at the end of the Lan Di fight and we landed a single blow on him with it, which changes the whole dynamic and Lan Di suddenly recognises Ryo as a potential threat. The same way we land the counter elbow assault via QTE on the big lad at the end of the second game. Still get goosebumps from that scene.
The status quo did change sure. But not nearly enough. Technically speaking Ryo leaving the cave is a huge status quo change and that occurs in the first minute of the game. By your logic they could’ve ended the game there and you would’ve been content. For a game loved as much as it is for its story, there barely wasn’t any. Just gambling.
Dont even get me started on the combat or the QTE! 🙈🙈 Praying for a shenmue 4 just to wash the taste of this one out of my mouth more than anything. Was happier with Ryo in the cave!
@fredbepsis7635 Ryos not ready. You're missing the point a little IMO. He's learnt both those moves half baked. Quickly because he had to. So again it would make mo sense he'd hit Lan Di.
The combat is fine. It needed more time. The QTE's either I'm old or they were hard!
Plenty happened in 3 as stated in my previous comment. It's the execution that's lacking.
But I'm also going against my own advice here. 3 is in the books and we can't change it. I'm focussed on Shenmue 4.
I hope you'll join us on the 4th for the mass tweet! 8pm UK time.
@@ShenmueDojoVOD The QTEs were very hard. A lot quicker and in the older games you could get away with missing a couple and Ryo would get hit or fall over but the scene would continue. In this game one single missed QTE meant a do over which I didn’t like.
Why would you spoiler the whole game? What if there's a new person lurking?
You suck
keep up the good work
I really want to see Shenmue 4, but the gameplay needs to evolve. It needs to be more action based like Yakuza and have a little bit more variety in the gameplay.
@@ethanellis9875same
Yeah, tried playing 1 and it's kinda boring, needs more training dojos and stuff like that.
Also deeper and more complex combat.
No, that’s exactly what Shenmue doesn’t need. Yakuza is garbage compared to Shenmue and was never a great game until Infinite Wealth, which is turn based and it’s the first Yakuza game to have any sort of variety(no, mini games were never variety because they were pointless to the progression). There’s not a single thing in any Yakuza that’s even remotely close to Shenmue in quality. EVERY game in the industry nowadays is an action game and Shenmue is the opposite. You put action trash in Shenmue and you took the life out of it. Not to mention Shenmue 2 has more variety than the entire Yakuza series. Keep boring ass Yakuza out of Shenmue.
@@Guy_Dude trash take bro
We have Yakuza for that style of game. Add too much new stuff into Shenmue and it stops being Shenmue.
i feel like i've seen this video
It's taken from our recent podcast. We'd been asked to break down the segments
Spent decades yearly googling shenmue 3 for any update and was blown away at the sony e3 that its really happening. When i finally recieved the kickstarter code I lost interest within a day. He should have finished the story in 3.
Was never planned. Too much to cram into one game
