The leaf catching is beautifully done with the sombre music and the leaves falling slowly and Xiuying giving advice... but Christ it was annoying 😂
The plank crossing in the Ghost Hall Building for sure
@@julioflores5433 Yep. That section was and still is evil
my strategy for completing the warehouse no. 8 stealth section the first time I played Shenmue was to fail a dozen times until I figured out the correct path, then loaded a save from earlier so I wouldn’t lose as much time. you can actually sprint through the entire section in under a minute once you sort out a strategy
Good shout
I remember you coming into my stream during ghost hall and me begging you to remember what the QTE inputs were for each plank 🤣
Good times! And save after each plank 🤣🤣
Some episodes of the first part can be explained by positioning, they stretched one chapter to a full-fledged game, this is where the overall drawn-out passage is felt, the desire to somehow artificially extend the game. In the second part, this argument will no longer work and the episode with books just needs to be shortened by about a third, the same can be done with earnings, just cut the requirements in half, instead of $ 500 make $ 250 (in Shenmue III similarly). And as for the beams, this is a relic of the times, now of course you can’t do this, just give a checkpoint on each floor, because everyone used saves anyway.
"Let's get sweaty"
The warehouse where you are moving crates.
Yes it can be damn annoying lol
The movie Prepare to die is a bit like Shenmue because a boy go back to get revange on someone that shot his family yet Ryo only got his dad killed by Lan Di.
I actually love doing all of it tbh and I have watched his streams
I never got frustrated with Shenmue aside of one time. It was finding the answers for the Animal Kung Fu Styles in Shenmue III. I just couldn't do i properly...
They build it up for the forklifts, telling you numerous times, that if you break anything, it will be deducted from your salary. I was so ready for the challenge to earn more than what i lose in damages... but there's nothing to damage :/ That's its biggest problem really, that time is the only challenge. I got accustomed to the maps unexpectedly quickly and it felt a bit empty from then on.
Yeah it is also a bit of an oversight that the game does not explicitly tell you that Dobuita has essentially ended by that point, i JUST discovered the fighting moves shop before turning onto forklifting, and was bummed that i could never maneuver my way back to the town.
The Ghost Hall Bld plank QTE will make you hurl the controller out the window, then the console and the TV.
@@maxcady360 it's come pretty close on a few occasions!
Chai in you arcade, the qte on the boards before finding Zhu Yanda,
Don't even need 18mins. Can say for sure one of the moments. Shenmue 3 ending knowing there is a secret voice line of Lan Di being hurt. It means you went throught the game with a perfect ply through, only losing in games/gambling and scenes that move the story along without being hit once OR Lan Di ws betrayed by the chick and it caught him off gaurd. DRIVES ME NUTS NOT KNOWING WHY THAT VOICE LINE IS IN THE GAME FILES!
Ryo isn't on Lan Di's level - I'd love to know who caused the damage to him though in that lost voice line.
@@ShenmueDojoVOD A perfect playthrough to at least get one punch on the man I've been trying to fight since I was 9 years old would be rewarding though...being on his level ws never the question, I just wanted to hit that smooth faced silk haired pony tail wearing father avenging mf'er once!!!!!! after 20ys but nope...
@Safonne remember though Ryo can't even hit Xiuying so him hitting Lan Di makes no sense.
Also he may never defeat Lan Di. There might be something bigger at play.
The remaster version has a bug where the forklift fights dont happen and the days go on forever😂 wtf..
I think that's a bug carried over from the original!
@@ShenmueDojoVOD is there a way to fix it? Im playing the same day over and over for like a week now🤣
@pianisthun Haha you'll have a shit load of money for capsules.
IIRC you go the normal route on the forklift (day 3 I think) and it should trigger. If not there might be a solution on our forums.
I don't like how the start of arm wrestling is purely indicated by the gestures of the... judge or commentator or manager or whatever those guys are supposed to be. It can be so short of a time window you must act within, or it's either an immediate fail, or penalty for being too fast. Otherwise easy runs ate up so much of my money, because for some reason i kept on having immediate fails every freakin time.
I found the leaf catching much easier in the remaster. Don't know why, just know I can nail them easy now. The planks, save scum all the way with them. I didn't do this on my first playthrough back in day an that was enough lol.
Ghost hall building
Iconic and frsutrating at the same time.
@ShenmueDojoVOD I've started writing the right QTEs down but back on dreamcast I had a hard time with it I even had to save it on each floor so I didn't have to start again back on dreamcast but there's a cheat where to start on the 8th floor through the thousand white building
Funny stuff 😂😂😂😂😂
Glad you enjoyed it.
@@ShenmueDojoVOD no problem
I would REALLY enjoy Outrun in the game, to this day, but the damn analog controls are way too sensitive. They are set for a stick that is extended half a meter out from the controller. It is so bad in fact that i've been tempted to cook some sort of modification up on the controller just for that game.
I didn't have problems with any of these. However, searching for all herbs in Niawoo and Bailu totally drove me crazy. I tried to do it without a guide and by the time I found the last few herbs I literally felt sick. I know I did it to myself, it's stupid to trophy hunt... The feeling afterwards was great though. :D
