I wonder how you can keep this setup steady. I am using the same follow focus but when I turn it, the whole camera moves so my shot is shaking. With the monitor your rig is even top heavy.
Tighten the screws LMAO Cages usually come with two points of fixation, so the camera itself should never move. As for your nato rails and the rest, they should also be held at two points, nothing should ever move. I'm quite convinced you've done something wrong.
@@GoldenCoastGTA no it's not that, you can't hold this construction steady while you turn the follow focus wheel, unless your right hand is a very strong vise. This only works on a monopod or tripod. I did a lot of testing with many lenses. The friction of the follow focus + focus ring of the lens is too big so if you move it, the camera + cage will move or shake. The stable shot Caleb claims around 3:24 is simply impossible. You see the lens go up and down when he turns the follow focus wheel even without the monitor. It doesn't work, trust me.
@@TuinleiBobyou are making a good point here. I’m currently thinking some lightweight rig with follow focus system for s5. I was thinking something like we see in this video (without monitor and mat box) but it sure doesent look steady. I think it need more than one side handle.
Hey caleb tell me can you share do they have the piece the clamps the hdmi port ??? I keep breaking cables and i can not find anywhere on their site too buy the hdmi port clamp
looks great - I ordered one a few days ago and added an HDMI cord clamp for the Black Mamba's lower left cage....hoping it works as advertised. I'd used a clamp for my Fuji XT-3 and know for sure that it saved the plug / port on a few snags in the past.
@@SigurdGrimsby I shoot real estate photos and video - so far, I can say I use the S5 as a true hybrid. Additionally I use it for business headshots - the colors and files are great - the auto focus for portraits is perfectly fine. I find the auto WB is not as good as Fuji, but I shoot RAW and custom WB in field as well. The dynamic range and image quality is great and I think the highlight roll off is way better than the Fuji files. I also use Godox trigger and have found, again, that the auto WB - even with flash, is hit and miss - so don't depend heavily on if you shoot jpeg! The video files are way better than my XT3 files were and the codecs are all great. I'm happy with the decision to switch - as I really enjoy the IQ on the files for both video and photos. Finally - the image stabilization is really really good. I can add perceveid power to my flash in dark ambient areas with high contract using higher ISO with really clean images. I skipped the kit lens 24-105, but wound up getting it later and I think it's amazing....also using the Sigma 16-28; Lumix 35 and 50 1.8. No significant complaints!
Should really tell you that he only made this video to get free gear and doesn't know how to use it. The way he built it literally makes getting stable shots so hard, because his left hand has to turn the follow focus and can't give support (otherwise it will mess up the focusing)
With the S5, Do you get a delay on the external monitor when you press record? I notice I am getting a 3-4 seconds delay when I press record using an external monitor with the S5. Thanks.
Can you do a similar video with the GH6? My company has purchased one for me and hand held operation when on location is challenging. What rig would you suggest? Thanks.
Space and cost saving choice. At the time of release the GH5 was panasonics top range mirrorless camera with a small sensor so lots of space internally for stabilisation and thermal control. On the other hand the S5 is Panasonic's entry level full frame mirrorless that sits in a smaller and lighter body than the GH5 and yet has a sensor double the size with stabilisation. Very hard to fit a full size HDMI with the stabilisation and thermal control. I don't think it's impossible but when they were also trying to hit that sub $2000 USD price point it was a reasonable if somewhat disappointing compromise. My bigger gripe in compromises was the dual SD cards slots, where only 1 is UHS2 unlike the GH5 which has UHS2 on both card slots.
😂how about you just keep following you heart. I don’t think people want to make the same video every week for years…sh$t gets boring quick! Plus I shoot the S5😂
GH5 will get old. Need to upgrade eventually, the S5 is a wicked camera and a fantastic companion to the GH5 and now GH6. You don't have to be so narrow minded in sticking to a single format, you can utilise both as they are a tool. FF for better image quality and versatility, M43 for smaller lenses and weight saving.
That's a solid setup right there!
Can you make a video on how to setup everything ??

Does the matte box make a big difference shooting indoors? Like for some annoying overhead lights?

I am switching from the x-t3 to the s5. How is your experience?

they have the 2.5 screw to prevent twist?
Great rig. What do you think of the Tilta focus handle? It’s the handle with focus servo.
What focal mm lens do you use for most film shots?

Just get all of these components just use a gh6 cage.
I'm very surprised they put a mini HDMI port on the 'S' range, the GH5 has got a full size one!
It's a micro, not mini, which is even worse

I've had nothing but issue with s5. Ibis is awful and I've sent twice in.
Nothing but a moiré machine. Can't believe I listened to these bozos. 🤦♂
GH5 made the channel. This is my GH5 channel. So if you go S5 which doesn't have a big following prepare to lose core audience. Please stick to m43.
He said he's still going to keep making GH5 content but what more can he really say about the GH5 though?
To be fair, S5 does have a growing following…
There’s always the GH5II…

@@jockslifeatliftvideoproduc8528 He built his audience with GH5 shooters. S5 doesn't have the same crowd. My point stands.
