You ladies are an absolute inspiration, love you fish tickling skills Sarah. Until 16 years ago I lived near Stoke on Trent.... it's so nice to hear someone call a hill a "bonk".
O.M.G. That “catching of the fish” completely took me out! My stomach hurts from laughing so hard. I did not see that coming 🤣🤣🤣. Superbly done, ladies!
A Swytch conversion would make those hills so much easier, electric, and find a good cafe for a good breakfast, loving your travels girls but electric is the way to go, and you can get solar power packs to charge.x
I remember many years ago (1998) winching my loaded touring bike up a very steep hill in Ireland only to have a series of racer-types zoom past me. We were heading to Dublin for the start of the TDF. It then dawned on me that these were some of the pros out getting some practice in prior to the prologue the next day.
We live right next to the Black Mountains. Every ride includes steep heels. I am built like Mary, I am more of a flat sprinter. My husband is built like a climber, think Chris Froome. He is 63 and I am 56. We are planning a south Wales to north Wales trip next summer. We enjoy watching your show, however, I don't think that our tourers could cope with some of the tracks you cycle on. We are considering riding the coastal path xxx
Surly LHT will tale you anywhere, you can always boil the filtered water, my normal cycling, it’s all hills and moorland in the valley’s, your fortunate you have the canals around Birmingham, same with me, my Thorn Nomad with saddle bag is heavy, don’t normally put the panniers on unless I’m off on a multi-day, all the smart arse roadies and e-bikes pass me 😁😁
Girls I just discovered your side , like your sense of humor and you are right training and practice and everything gets better but easy talking for me I am from Holland I subscribed so let the adventures coming.
Amazing place Wales, really picturesque. Well done Mary, you did so well. I rode across Wales last year and didn't have all the gear you had and it was tough. Maybe Norfolk for your next bike tour?👍
I use a sawyer squeeze filter but I still drop an oasis tablet in for good measure , used to do Severn day treks on the hills in the Lake District with a massive rucksack and get passed while plodding but knowing you have everything you need for a week and are totally self sufficient so can go where you please is second to none total freedom.
It would be interesting to know if the weight of your gear could be reduced, Mary.Obviously not the Whatsits, but other stuff. I'm thinking about what bags to get for my future cycling.
mary should get some front panniers, i am not as fit as people think i am, i struggle at times and i have found out, i struggle more when i only had panniers on the back. sharing the weight to the front and having it lower down for some reason makes riding easier. however the last time i had to ride up a huge hill i ended up having to walk. anyway it looked like a great place to go for a adventure.
That's good advice. On a steep hill the front end can become very light which can affect the steering and make the whole experience worse that it could be. Front panniers solve that issue.
Hills are killers when cycling i just prefer to walk up with my bike cant stand them as they always beat me and I felt for mary. I thought she was going to cry nothing worse when a sodding hill beats u at cycling.

Thank you. Our Mary loves a view but she just likes to grumble on the way up. lol. ...although Norfolk sounds appealing!

I did this on my disc trucker and 35 mm tyres it was a bit sketchy to say the least
