    Yakkocmn explained this clearly...
    Tears of the Kingdom for alot of people is a game determined by their expectations... If the game can't meet that expectations no matter how good the game is on it's own, then it's a disappointment..

    It's not perfect by any means but it gets way more hate these days than it deserves. Just my opinion.

      @mkjjoe Місяць тому +7

      From what I've seen there's the usual proportion of flat out "hate". It's just that TOTK underlines way more the limitations of what BOTW introduced, without benefiting from its novelty and simplicity. At this point TOTK kinda gets the attention for the worst of all worlds, despite being very fun in its own right. I hope that despite commercial and critical success it's a strong enough signal for the developers that evolution is still really expected. Not that I don't expect them to push themselves as they're moving on to a new setting on a new console.

      It just amazes me that the same people who complained about pre-BotW being TOO LINEAR are now complaining about post-BotW as being TOO OPEN. The haters truly need to put their pacifiers and their diapers away and just get over it !!! ... If you prefer the older games ... guess what - you can still play them ! My favorite Zelda game is A Link to the Past. I still play it to this day ... I just choose not to live in the past.

    • @mkjjoe

      @@scarmucci1918 How do you they're the same people? This audience is varied. But even for one person, it's ok to adjust out perception with new experiences. When SS released it was burdened by the shoehorned motion controls, excessive hand-holding and there wasn't as much excitement for a repetition of the OOT template. When it re-released after BOTW with some streamlining and button controls people were able to better appreciate the linear approach for what it was, it was a welcome break from the massive open world.
      None of these experiences can please everyone. But the series has benefited from variety, and sometimes refinement of what came before. I think that's in big part how now after TOTK a lot of people are just ready to really move forward, and it seems hard to conceive anything more open that BOTW/TOTK. It's then logical to expect things to be fleshed out in that open setting, and linearity is one characteristic of design that can help that.

      I agree. Then again, it’s the legend of Zelda fandom. The new zelda games would always get hate whether that be Wind Waker, Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, or even Breath of the Wild. Sure, the game has its issues. But that doesn’t contradict it to be a bad game

    I bought it at release, spent a bit of time on it, but then put it aside. I was a huge BotW fan, and had replayed it before TotK's release. Think I just burned myself out. Anyway.... I picked it up again around the one year anniversary and I've been LOVING IT! Approaching 80 hours and I'm barely moving the story forward. I've just been enjoying the world and the Depths.

    I honestly didn't mind that you didn't get the past flashbacks in chronological order as the white light dragon and flashback #5 pretty much made clear what happened and what the final flashback would be.

      True. But, you can also stumble upon the aftermath of Sonia's death before having seen her death. That's a heavy scene considering Sonia is a surrogate mother to Zelda. Honestly, telling the story through memories is my biggest criticism for both BOTW and TOTK and I hope Nintendo steers away from it in the next game. Flashbacks are fine, just not if it's the entire story.

      Honestly i hated ultrahand, it was too slow and clunky. If the pieces moved faster and didnt take as long to build it wouldve been better. Ultrahand being the main rune you use definitely limited my enjoyment of the game. I loved fuse, definitely the best part imo. Ascend was a bit finicky, i died a few times in fights bc i couldnt line it up perfectly. I never used recall other than when my hoverbike fell in the depths while grinding light roots. And then the sages; im not gonna go into it cuz everybody already has. The inventory changes from the first game were extremely jarring. The game was fun but honestly felt like a downgrade from Breath Of The Wild.

    To think Majora's Mask development time was around a year and they still managed to give a new story, 3 new gameplay styles (5 total), and have amazing dungeon designs.
    After 6 years to develop a truly massive follow-up to botw, the $70 Totk drops with a largely reused map, lackluster dungeons, and no DLC. The grass WAS greener.

      1) you think this is not on the same level. The vast majority thinks totk is a great game
      2) totk is doing 10x the amount of things mm was doing (and I love mm to death)
      3) game development in general has become 10x more complex and resource heavy in these last 25 years
      So yeah, totk is an unbelievable achievement for the gaming industry, as many devs confirmed

      @@dreagon185I mean have you played any game where you can craft a plane in a matter of seconds out of nothing, you can fly it almost anywhere in a very huge open-world, it's easy to control and most importantly it works the day the game releases and you didn't need to wait for patch for months that will fix it??
      All of this in a Handheld game that is as strong as my toaster... I mean if you think that's easy to achieve and unremarkable then I think you need to wake up a bit try to analyze what games do you really enjoy to play...

    Constructive criticism: try not to end every sentence like you’re a news reporter.

  • @maynardburger
    @maynardburger 4 дні тому

    So I hope this isn't too harsh, but rather taken as constructive criticism - you should really work on varying up your reading cadence. You have an extremely repetitive way of reading a sentence, especially with how you end them. You start out high and then drop low for the last few words, while also sometimes weirdly pronouncing or drawing out the last word or two. It's so noticeable and consistent that it almost sounds purposeful, but I cant believe that's the case, cuz that would be very bizarre. Just saying, I could only make it halfway through the video cuz of this.

    TotK feels like the devs doubled down on all the things we didn't like about BotW while giving the same map we already explored.
    I'm impressed they managed to somehow make the dungeons even worse than the divine beasts, and the sage ability mechanics were horrible, like Metroid Other M 1st person mode horrible.

    They had such an extreme amount of time that there just really is no excuse sadly for reusing excessive amounts of things, surface level if that environmental story telling not close to souls games, and no hope for any expansion or dlc.
    If they don't release a surprise expansion I'm just convinced they honestly don't care and honestly do just make games for baby kids
    The only 2 things that make totk good is how exploring in all ways makes you stronger and the powers.
