Just the addition of Homing Arrows on a multi shot bow was enough for me. Add in a Molduga Jaw on a Royal Guard Claymore one hit away from breaking (for use only on the Lynel's back), Bone Proficiency Up armor, and a Level Three Attack Up food buff. Lynals have gone from the bane of my existence in BotW, to manageable. The Phantom Ganondorf fights have surpassed them as the new "I would rather be hunting Korrok seeds" fights in the game. **Shudder**

@@Starcat5 i struggled with my first lynel kill, but despite letting my first phantom Ganon kill spread a whole heap of gloom whilst I watched from a distance, I actually defeated it quite easily when it teleported next to me and forced me to attack it with melee weapons.
The trick with phantom Ganons is to not let the gloom spread by hitting it quick enough. A good buff for this is to have as many sages active around you, as they’ll still get hits even if there’s gloom about. Otherwise, phantom Ganon attacks are pretty easy to dodge and parry.

The actual best weapon for this is a pristine Royal Guard Claymore which can take down a Silver Lynel with a single mount. It does require a bit of setup with rock octorocks for +10 damage but you can deal around 875 damage with a Molduga Jaw (Stalnox Horn is also sufficient) if I have the numbers correct. You achieve this damage by having a full set of Radiant armor upgraded twice for Bone Proficiency, attack up 3 food, and the RG Claymore+ brought down to 1 durability for a x10.8 multiplier. There’s videos on this.
Also, Fierce Deity/Barbarian armor doesn’t stack with food once you have 3 levels of attack up since they’re the same modifier. I believe the set bonuses from the various Hero armor sets do stack but I don’t know the exact bonus you get from them. Regardless though, Radiant armor is sufficient for this.

    A couple notes:
1: Robbie will only move to Hateno after you unlock auto build, and you have completed at least one temple
2: To mitigate the number of weapons needed down to just 1, use the puff shroom to easily headshot the lynel and then mount him. Mounted attacks on a lynel's back do not consume durability. You shouldn't need many bows, and if you do, the lynels all drop bows, the last 3 dropping the best bow in the game, the savage lynel bow

That is why you can get two of them every Blood Moon. Alternate between the two, or stockpile an armory first.. And when they break, they have a chance of spawning as Pristine variants in the Depths directly below Korrok Forrest. Of course, that plan has one fatal flaw: You need to defeat a Gaggle of Gloom Hands and a Phantom Ganondorf first. I did it by dropping down an auto targeting Zonai Death Lazor on top of an Auto Balancer, and popped Large Charges like Tic Tacs while hiding on a ledge. Okay it's an absolute must do for begginers that's for sure.
If you're a bit experienced with Lynel's fights, you can also so the classic parry/headshot and while on them you can use Ganon Ghost's weapons since their effect doesn't apply when using them on a Lynel's back (so with let's say the Demon King's Spear + Lynel's Horn or something it adds up to 95 damages)

Tried this once with a Silver Lynel in the wild and it worked.
Couldn’t successfully replicate it, but never tried to afterward and just practiced parrying and dodging.
It helps to be able to time the parrying, shoot them in the face with an arrow to stun, get four swings in and mount to get some more.
Shield fusions also help to activate more slow-motion for shooting arrows, especially if armored.
Multi-shot bows with bomb flowers is so good for this.

Lots to add for Lynel killing: for your Puffshrooms strat (first). Forest Dwellers weapon. Collect, use, and break the two on top of the deku tree then head to the depths same area for the spirit platforms. This is a tactic you'll want to get good at.
Reusable puffshrooms for all your shrooms needs. Now, on to late game "real" Lynel thrashing. Get into Hyrule castle find, spam use, and break royal and royal guard weapons. Now underground...
I've found two statues under eventide that crank one handers and two handers. Ive found 2 hebra area (valley) that drop spears. Get a royal and royal guard something. Time for "Rockorock".
In Minecraft terms the rocktorocks are..an anvil, grindstone, and enchanting table all rolled into on. You want to drop your weapons in front of him and roll for attack ups. Note: dismiss Tulin. You can walk away from him and all the other sages will behave, but Tulin will crack him before he can do his thing every time.
Finally, wear the royal guards weapon down to the last hit left. When it's "weak", stop, save, take one more swing to check. Reset if it breaks and stop cause you're all good. When you mount a Lynels back weapon damage is totally free, losing no durability.
Math time. Royal guards claymore, pristine. Had the +9 atk on it. Down to last hit. Silver Lynel saber equipped had it at 208. Red Lynel drops in 3 hits (with +3 atk from bananas or equip), blue in 4, white in 5, silver can bearly survive a full 6. Barely

You can also fuse 2 chests, and save that in autobuild, build it in the arena before triggering them to start the fight.
    Lure the Lynels near it
Lynels hate Zonai and will roar to break it... But it CAN'T break that build for whatever reason. They'll just stand there roaring while you beat them up

    Easier method:
Find two silver chests. Easiest is to find a cave with two like like's and kill them. Don't open their chests though.
Simply fuse the closed chests together. That's it. Then save that blueprint in your autobuild menu.
Now go to a lynel. Before engaging the Lynel autobuild the chests and pick them up. Place them in front of the lynel. Sometimes he doesn't notice so just force it in his face again and put it down.
What happens is that the lynel will get stun locked in an animation to try and break the chests apart with a roar. Lynels are programmed to break your builds before continuing to attack, however these chests are unbreakable.
    Have fun afking Lynels

Being a low skill player, I have resorted to a modified version of this tactic. Throw the puffshroom at the Lynel, equip an arrow with an eyeball , fire it and stun the Lynel. Then mount and dispatch with the strongest weapon you have. Bone proficient armor, attack up food, and the flashing red Mulduga hammer make even the strongest Lynel a one-mount kill. Total cost; one puffshroom, one guided arrow, and five mighty bananas per Lynel.

To hell with wasting puff shrooms on them, use keese eye if you can't hit it yourself. Then jump on the back with a weapon that's next to breaking to get double damage (make sure you fuse something good on it) you can easily have a 100+ weapon. Jump on the back a hit it over and over again and that weapon won't break. Rinse and repeat. Save between fights in case something goes wrong but pick up the loot before saving (may want to drop a cheap bow and pick up the cheep 3 shot between each round to make sure you don't run into a damaged bow situation.) On the last one, bomb the crap out of the Lynel until it's rock armor comes off. May want to puff shroom here to keep him clouded.

It is in hyryle castle jumpslash till bad durability then two more jumpshlashes then it will deal around 230-300ish damage. There's another way to beat Lynels, but it takes more work. Get radiant armor level 2, the royal weapon with the highest might that does more damage on its last hit, fuse it with Mildoga fin, use a high level attack recipe (3 bananas and a mighty thistle), then get on the lynels back. It'll one round it, but make sure you don't break it by accident.
