Adiabatic process does not mean no temperature change. It means no transfer of heat to or from system. The dry ice formed because of temperature change. If the process was slowed down enough, no dry ice would form due to the heat transfer from the environment.
work done on the system and work done by the system are confused in sign. in physics work done on the system positive or negative please explain by using some figure
I understand that when air rises, pressure decreases, volume increases, and temperature decreases through adiabatic cooling. However, I also know that cool air contracts like warm air expands. So wouldn't these two facts balance each other out and the air wouldn't move at all?? Obviously it works out that cold air rises because if I go climb a mountain it will be chillier at the top. But since cold air is also more dense, how is it higher and how is this true? I feel like adiabatic processes are true to the world but somehow go against those other facts I know.
There was no temperature change for the adiabatic free expansion as no work was done, since W = ∆Eint this means no change in internal energy and hence no change in temperature, as ∆Eint = (f/2)nR∆T. In the second case negative work was done on the gas, so ∆Eint is negative and there is a decrease in temperature which led to the desublimation.
If you look at carnot's cycle, adiabatic means heat exchange and that amount of heat is equivalent to work done. Adiabatic process is not insulated system but heat loss due to exchange of heat.
Not very clear explanation in my view. Why not simply say when the volume of gas expands the heat energy contained is diluted and the temperature falls proportionally. Thanks . .

you cleared my point thanks.
This was so easy to understand. Best explanation I have ever seen
Now I got the concept that how bursting of tyre is an example of adiabatic expansion .thank you so much for this wonderful session☺
Amazing... I can understand it so easily. Really, you have my 2 thumbs up.
same here from pakistan
Such an informative and concise video. Your way of explaining is highly appreciated.
The best video of thermodynamics
Beautiful explanation

Concise and Clear. Thanks!!
Please why in the first cylinder's opening there was not solid formation but in the second case?

you made it so easy to understand by using the fire extinguisher 🤯
Thank you miss
You made my confusions clear.
Thanks a bunch

If the internal energy of the gas decreases, where does the lost energy go due to negative work?
Amazing😍
Thanks a lot for this great explanation
what are the rules if the process is irreversible
loved the explanation
Is that a bong?
Thank you🙏🙏
You're welcome 😊
Why not ∆Eint = −W?
W is defined as the work done on a gas in this video. The negative sign is needed if you are using W for the work done by a gas.
@@UNSWPhysics Oh thx
Alternatively just say, when a gas expands it must drop in temperature . .
Thank you!
Thank you :)
