Coming along nicely. Our Astro Gladiator repower project is on hold for a while. I like the rims you chose. we have a set of 87 Monte Carlo checkered flag pattern wheels, which are my favorite Chevy rim ever, but they are only 14x6. We will prob end up choosing some Iroc 16’s for our van. I’m impressed with the amount of work you have put into your S10. Take care and have fun. @12:53 is what I was envisioning when I nudged you toward 350 S10’s to begin with. As I said then: “it’s like they were made for each other.” Cheers.

Looking great Kyle! One tad bit of advice. If you aren't planning on putting the 1/2" blocks in the back, you need to cut the ends of the u-bolts off within a quarter of an inch from the face of the nuts. They can catch on stuff and if you have a flat can hit the ground bending them making it almost impossible to get the u-bolts out. Learned that the hard way back in my mini-truckin days in the late 80's early 90's. Otherwise everything looks mint!!

The Chevelle is the daily, the S10 I'm putting back to how it was the day my grandfather bought it new, but with a 350hp 4.3L. I had a 350 in it for the last few years, but it's time to stand out and be different from all the other V8 S10s in town.

Brand new springs will settle once you put some miles on it, which will make the truck lower. After you do the alignment have it checked again in 500 miles to make sure everything is good. I'm assuming camber and caster is set with shims so make sure you find a good shop, you want the place that puts down fender covers. Positive caster makes for a more stable ride but it increases steering effort so keep that in mind if you're doing custom specs and they can't get it to come in exactly. Sometimes you can increase caster to decrease camber, negative camber is good for handling but too much will wear the inside of the tires

Hi Kyle. I have contacted you before. I think your interest in gen one S-10's is incredible. You are always looking for suggestions. So far you haven't bit on any of my suggestions. I have an incredible mint survivor time capsule. 1987 S10 Blazer Tahoe 4X4 with 62K unmolested miles on her. It has the 2.8 V6. With the 2.8 V6. the Blazer is slower than a riding mower. Would you be interested in doing an incredible swap on it. DCS (Diesel Conversion Specialist) makes a drop in swap kit. It includes the adapter plate, fly wheel, starter motor, all the nuts and bolts, etc... to mate a TH700R4 trans to a VW TDI diesel. Much more Horsepower and Much more Torque and when it is done, AN INCREDIBLE possible 30-50+ Miles Per Gallon. With the 20 gallon tank in the Blazer that is a 600 to a 1000 mile range, with enough power to pull a house down. My suggestion would be to get a complete engine with all the accessories already bolted on so it would need limited modifications like AC and PS lines made up. The VW TDI's are capable of 200 (reliable) hp with minimal upgrades, like larger injectors and a slightly larger turbo. I hope I have peaked your interest this time.

So now that the truck drives there is something you should research. The TV cable for the transmission NEEDS to be properly adjusted otherwise the transmission will quickly burn itself out. Also how do you plan to get the torque converter to lock up? Since your truck is carbureted there is no computer to engage the lockup so how do you plan to go about that.

The TV cable set up is VERY important. However, he put in a 700R4 tranny which is "analog" so no computer communication. Kyle, please let us know how you adjust the TV cable.

Yes, you are 100% correct. The truck isn't "driveable" quite yet, the whole suspension needs tightening, the diff needs fluid, the TV cable needs adjusting, etc. I have found several videos out there and there's a bunch of info on google on TV cable adjustment so I'll work on that very soon. I think the most important thing is for the 1st to 2nd gear change to be around 20mph, but I have to double check. I know there's the bulk adjustment and the fine adjustment. TCI had a wire harness attached to the TCC module. I connected it to an ignition power as they indicated so the lockup should work as it's supposed to. I don't know much else about it at the moment.

@@saabkyle04 That's interesting. I thought you would do what other people do with the TCC by just putting it on a toggle switch. But yes do make sure to get the TV cable adjusted correctly as the trans will QUICKLY burn itself out and you don't want that
