In today's video, I'll be kicking off a new project series that will focus on restoring a 1989 Chevrolet S10 Extended Cab. With my GMC Jimmy restoration nearing completion, I wanted to go ahead and dive into this truck to get it running right and figure out where to take it from here. The first thing that has to be done is a rather invasive repair, the fuel sending unit. It's not a fun thing to do, but thankfully, it'll open the doors to get several things done at once. I'm pretty excited to work on this truck! Thanks for watching, the support means a lot!

To be fair, tho.... most cars from this time, especially American cars, were pretty terrible.... not many are excited about the Plymouth Reliant, or Dodge Omni. And the iron duke engine is pretty meh. and most transmissions of the time were pretty phoned in too and can't take much power above stock. I get what you're saying, but I get why people "nope" out of old engine platforms. The LS is really that good.

Nah, the 4.3 gives it more character. Resurface the valves and replace the seals, change the cam and have some headers built for it. Swap the fuel injectors from a 350 TBI unit and it could break 200 hp, and for a truck that light it would roast the tires all day.

Very nice :)! I'm working on getting the same truck, a $500 1992, back on the road. This is my 4th first generation S10 but I have worked on many of them over the years. A quick tip for the folks without a lift, is to tilt the bed rather than take it off. Remove all the bolts on the driver's side and loosen the ones on the passenger side. Lift it up and shove a jack stand between the bed and frame. Plenty of room to work. If you do decide to remove the bed with the help of some buddies, the bed and tailgate together weight around 230 pounds (yes, I weighed mine before at work for fun). With four people, it will be less than 60 pounds a person. Just be sure to have some saw horses or something to set the bed on after you take it off or else you may damage the sheet metal.

I picked up a 93 Tahoe last year. It has 88K on its 4.3L with a 5 speed. I have been doing these same little things to it. Tune up-plugs wires cap rotor PCV, brakes front and back, shocks, radiator, heater core, fan clutch, changed inside out lights to all LED, little things that needed to be done. I have yet to spend over $600 on it with me doing all of it myself. Truck runs like brand new. I also lowered mine. I did a 5/7 with some 18"/20" wheels on it that I already had. I ran all belltech except the 3" coils. The belltech Coils with te 4.3L dropped the front all the way down to lower a-arm to frame about 4.5". I sent them back to Summit and ordered the DJM and they lower the front right at 3". Don't know if I got a bad set or what. I look forward to more s10 videos.

All I've ever owned are S-10 base platforms. 90 Jimmy, 97 Jimmy, 98 Sonoma, 2001 Jimmy. Bilstein shocks for the only thing to put on these. I can't remember if your Jimmy was a vortec or body fuel injection, you put a different spring in the fuel pressure regulator and put another gasket to raise the throttle. I can't tell you how much it gives you but it sure makes a big difference going up hills and on the butt Dyno.

Install LED lighting front and rear, full interior restoration, full detailing, audio upgrade, some simple engine upgrade (turbo, maybe, make it performs like Typhoon). I also thinking about brake (rear disk brake if possible) and suspension upgrade (don't lower it, but make it more comfortable)

This is funny because I just watched Auto Auction Rebuilds do the same thing to his Sonoma 😆.

In my experience when an older GM won’t turnover it’s almost always the fuel pump.

Jiří Huser Hoping to have some content for everyone soon. Waiting on a few more front suspension parts to come in and then we can get started on it

Definitely do the suspension. 3/4 drop. With newer zq8 wheels. Would look amazing!!

A restomod sounds about right for this project. Would be cool to see some modern safety features added to an old truck like this as well (lane departure warning, forward collision warning, blind spot detector, rearview/backup camera, etc.).

Drop blocks are fairly cheap and easy and don’t mess with the ride too much.

Great video buddy and I have a question what would be a good sounding exhaust for a 2.9L inline 4 cylinder 2008 Colorado ? What would you prefer
