Nah. It’s still BS that these automakers are forcing these subscription based things on consumers! It’s a option and a consumer shouldn’t be forced to buy a option that they don’t want!
Wasn't there something floating around on the internet that if you canceled OnStar or the subscription service whatever they call it that your heated seats won't work I don't know if that was true or not. If they're going to link certain features of the truck to these monthly service plans and you cancel them and certain features won't work on your truck that's b*******.
Hey Shane! What I believe we're going to see as we move forward is that all new vehicles will require a constant data connection in order for the vehicles systems to properly function. I worked for Verizon Wireless during the transition into the smartphone era, and where we are with the automotive space feels very similar. I remember when I used to offer data plans to people and they laughed, telling me they didn't need it. Plans were confusing, and systems were somewhat messy. Now everyone has a phone with a data connection. Almost nobody would consider not having it. Right now our cell phones are able to fill the gap for the most part, I agree...however....Apple is spending a TON of money into enhancing their CarPlay system, and rumor is the new system will end up subscription based in order for Apple to add an additional stream of income. If that is in fact the case, I believe Google (android) will follow suit. At that point it will all come down to whose system you want to subscribe to, and which one you personally prefer. Now I could certainly be wrong, but with all the information I have available to me right now that is where I see things going. Right now we are in it's infancy, so it's messy, and people are saying they don't need it.....just like they did with smartphones when they came out. I hope that makes sense, and thanks for stopping by my channel!
100% agree with you on how they handled this the wrong way. Raise the MSRP by $1500 and include 3 years of "complimentary" OnStar service - nobody bats an eye.
If you have to buy it you would have to call to cancel so they can offer you a "deal" otherwise the charge a monthly fee. $1600 is a good deal for 3 years of the top tier of OnStar if you renew it will cost a lot more.
That’s a LAME excuse….come on Brian…you can do better than that. GM DID raise the MSRP and then the tacked this crap on as a forced option. You work at a dealership and you see the window stickers, don’t try to defend this bs. You sound like a true salesman.
I wouldn't consider what I said much of a defense. I said I dislike price increases, I said I don't personally want to pay more, but also it is what it is. At least with this I'm getting something instead of nothing with the price increase. I could complain about it, which is essentially useless...or I can be a bit more forward thinking. @@BrianMello makes perfect sense and I always appreciate your insight. Keep up the good work, I think everyone is super frustrated with the current pricing situation and the $1500 while it isn’t a huge monetary issued when you’re looking at an $87K truck, it just seems like they’re piling it on.
I have a GMC Sierra with 300,000 miles. Love it, still runs like a champ. I’m pretty much a Chevy guy from the start with a few years early on. I’ve purchased 2 Camaros, 2 corvettes, 3 trucks, a van for my dad and now this evolution in the market feels like death by a thousand small cuts. I’ve been loyal to GM, however it doesn’t feel returned. Just might have lost me as a LOYAL customer.
I've been a loyal GM owner my entire life (I'm 49). My parents are too (in their late 70s). GM is making it really hard to continue our loyalty. Not just because of this but some other recent decisions too.
Same here too, my Father and Grandfather been LOYAL Chevy owners since the 50s But lately how GM has been with there pricing and other SHENANIGANS.. My LOYALTY with GM has been running very THIN.
@@brainwashed1542 I worked at Gm and have a employee discount and I won't pay an OnStar tax. My lease is due in June 23, I'm studying Ram and Ford trucks now leaning towards Ram so far.
TO equalize everything, I only negotiate on "out the door" where if the dealer wants to shoot themselves in the foot with all sorts of excess and imaginetive fees...go for it. Will be interesting as I negotiate between a Silverado without the the mandatory option and Sierra with it as they work from a $1500 self imposed handicap. The other problem with the approach that wasn't addressed is 3 years from now as a trade-in on a new vehicle. That $1500 becomes a liability for the consumer. Trade-in value is based on some reference, like Black Book, that uses as its base MSRP, then adds in key options. By not including "mandatory option" originally in MSRP, the base cost is artificially low, and becomes a liability as the expired option has no value. Worse, the used buyer will have additional monthly costs to continue the OnStar and the functionality of features within the truck.
You're completely ignoring that all the benefits mean you need to pay year over year. Name one manufacturer that charges you to use the navigation. I'm not talking about map updates but to simply use the GPS. I'll wait
What would be nice is if you could opt out of having Onstar entirely whenever you purchase the vehicle. Then just have it as a third party option later on if you wanted to purchase it. Not saying there’s anything wrong with Onstar. I just don’t enjoy the whole setting up process lol.

I just picked up my GMC Denali last Tuesday. My biggest frustration was not the price increase for Onstar, but for the delays in taking delivery of the truck! It was originally scheduled to be built in May, it was finally built in late July and delivered last week! I was already an Onstar subscriber in my 2018 Denali , paying monthly. As far as changing brands, that’s not happening I have been a serious GMC fan since 1953! One major reason I purchased this year is I will never purchase an electric vehicle and I am concerned about serious electric vehicle talk out of all manufacturers!
William, I couldn't agree more when it comes to the build times and delivery dates! It has been a complete mess, even at the dealer level we are often times left in the dark by the manufacture. It's crazy, and it's something that needs to changed sooner than later. Oh, and before I forget, congrats on the new Denali you must be pumped! As for the move to electric, who knows what's going to happen. I know for me as an enthusiast I'll always own at least 1 ICE vehicle, because who doesn't love the sound of a screaming V8! EV's I really hated until I drove one. They are insanely fast, the throttle response is out of this world, and the low center of gravity makes then handle incredibly well....BUT, we've got a long way to go before they can fully replace ICE. Thanks for watching, and good luck with the new truck!
I ordered my 2022 high country silverado at christmas time when order books opened up. By the time i got my truck in April it went up $3100, thankfully i have a good dealer and i was price protected.
2 questions: do you want it or do you want others to see you have it? the next one is do you need it or do you just want it. People have a serious problem with both.
Hi Brian, Thank you for making this video. As we all know inflation is hitting everyone. Fuel, electronics, food and all across the board on everyday necessities. It's been a few years since I Owened a GMC with all the tech. But it seems to me that all these things you mentioned on what the onstar gives the customers, We all have it on our phone which it travels with us in our hands or pant pockets. Can't do that this with GM service. We can bluetooth our phone right to the infotainment system without the onstar service. Just my 2cents....ty!
Hey Maxwell, thanks for watching! I totally understand your position. So I placed an order in March for a GMC, Sierra Denali. With the tech package it was $69,960. Same rig is now almost $72k. Also the color I wanted is not available (cayenne tint), 0% financing is gone and I hear they are having reliability issues. I may not pick up the truck I have waited over 5 months for. Now prices are going even higher?
FYI I bought a 2019 Chevy Silverado in 2019 and they forced me to spend $1495 on sky Force technology I was not happy with that and as for the phone app I could really care less that's what the remote is for. So on top of the 1495 that I paid up front I was also paying $50 a month for OnStar and $30 a month for the Wi-Fi. So I had OnStar for 3 years never used it once. Cancelled the Wi-Fi a few months after I bought the truck, never saw the purpose in it. I have a Garmin GPS and a cell phone so I didn't need directions from OnStar. So I was pretty pissed about that I'm not going to spend a 600 bucks a year to renew the service so last month I canceled it all together and would you know my Chevy app no longer works and it says the app was free until 2029 so that pisses me off too.. When I saw the 1495 on purchase contract at the dealer I said I don't want it, they said you have no choice it's included. And Brian let's not forget about the lifter failures that these trucks have had, my passenger side lifters went out at 500 miles and that totally f****** pisses me off. So pretty much I was also forced to go back and buy the extended warranty because of the potential lifter failure in the near future that could happen on the driver side or re-happen on the passenger side. So I paid I think 3,200 for they extended warranty $1,500 for skyforce that I was forced to pay and for over the past 3 years I spent $1,800 for OnStar so that is $6,500. that's ridiculous. I love my truck but it will probably be the last Chevy that I buy if they pull this crap on the next one.
I love Onstar. The issue with this is people feel GM took away their choice. If the price of the vehicle raised to $1500 people would buy because they never had a choice to make.
Terrible move by GM. Glad I got my truck earlier this year. GM keeps e-mailing with discounts trying to get me to pay for OnStar monthly. I see NO VALUE in OnStar. Just another way for companies to suck money from consumers. Mandatory $1,500 increase would have turned me off from a GMC truck.
I get that the consumer is getting something for their money unlike ford and ram but if gm just didn’t raise the price imagine how many more units they would sell to potential ford ram and even gm customers.
It’s the 6.2 with super cruise and it is a head turner for sure. I really don’t use the super cruise all that much unless I travel and it worked great when I did. The new interior is soooo much better than my 21 AT4!
@@BeamerTime354 ahh man I'm jealous, I haven't even had a chance to try out Super Cruise yet! We only got one truck with it and it was sold the same second it hit the lot so I never really had a chance to give it a go. The interiors are next level, what the Denali always should have been. Congrats, hope she treats you well!
@@BrianMello I know what you mean by them being gone as soon as they hit the lot. I have the only one in the city I live in and the other one that came in was gone the next morning heading up to Dallas.
LOL! I was driving with my friend in his Tundra yesterday, and I asked if his map on the screen was always on, or if it was his phone. He said it's always on. He also doesn't pay a monthly subscription either. I told him that when I bought my 2021 Silverado, they set up Onstar, and the first 3 months of the subscription were free, then it would cost like $15/month. The subscription didn't automatically end, and they charged me twice for a service that I had declined when I bought the truck. Chevy wouldn't help me at all with the issue, and I had to deal directly with Onstar. It was like pulling teeth trying to get them to stop the services, and multiple times I explained to them that I had declined the service when I bought the truck. They even said that they would go back through all of my calls with them when I purchased the truck to prove that I had ordered the service. I told them that I NEVER wanted Onstar, and that I would just report them for fraud. At that point, they decided that it would be best to stop messing with me, and they canceled my service. Onstar is a joke. I love my truck, but I would NEVER buy another one from them if I am forced to buy Onstar.
It's totally overblown. In short order this will disappear, coinciding with an increase in the base price and people will stop talking about it. Bad rollout strategy by GM, I assume somebody screwed up somewhere on the price increase announcements this year.
I’m glad I bought mine a couple of months ago when they asked if you want it long term . I’ve never had to use it in the past but you’re definitely right at least what they offer in it does give you a bit . I’m gonna stay loyal so I guess they will get me on the next new one .
Thanks for watching Stephen! I think what's going to end up happening is new vehicles are going to need a steady data connection to really get the use out of them...whether we like it or not. I worked in the mobile phone space when internet and data plans started becoming a thing and this feels very similar. Everyone said they don't need a data plan...until sooner or later everyone wanted one, and then eventually everyone needed one. New vehicles are becoming giant computers essentially, and a computer without data is sort of useless. I know I'm just along for the ride as the industry evolves, so I'm trying to be optimistic. I hope that these systems get better, and that the value increases so we all can feel better about what we're spending our hard earned money on. Congrats on the new truck by the way!
Not a fan of it either, but thanks for your insight regarding the value of OnStar vs just a price increase. Probably won’t deter me from purchasing new Sierra or canyon on near future. Thanks again Brian
The worst part...if you ever think prices will go down or back to what it was, this is never going to happen. They have all learned that people will still by their products at what ever they charge. This is the new price for everything. But for GM and OnStar...I do not believe that GM needs more money to "invest" to make OnStar better. Maybe CEO Barra can lose a little from her 29 mill salary to invest and make it better.
The price increases SUCK, unfortunately with demand continue to be just crazy and supply chain issues continuing I don't see it changing anytime soon. There's a reason I'm still driving around my 17 Sierra, but man looking at these new trucks everyday certainly isn't making it easy haha thanks for watching Brandon!
I agree Brian, it just seems that a lot of people is against the General. You’re right about the rising prices and no body is saying anything about Ford and Ram.

What’s with the hate on the Ridgeline? I always hear the “it’s not a real truck” but it isn’t designed to be that anyway. It is a great vehicle for me that suits my needs - and has given me flawless performance. Not one mechanical issue to date. So can’t we all just get along? Lol That said, I need a bigger hauler now so if anyone wants a meticulously maintained Ridgeline, lemme know 😉!
haha I honestly have nothing against the Ridgeline, its more of a joke than anything else. I don't care what anyone buys as long as it suits their needs and makes them happy.....I would prefer it however if you bought a GM truck :p Thanks for watching!
@@BrianMello It’s all good - just some good old-fashioned teasing. And, you’ll be pleased to hear that my order for a 2023 AT4 w/ Duramax is already with my dealer. Anxiously awaiting news on when production will start.
I had a question.. If I were to order a new trailboss with the 3.0 duramax would it come as a 2022 or 2023 ? Reason I'm asking is because I want the new 3.0 duramax LZ0 not the LM2. If you could get back to me it would be very helpful. Thank you.
Part of the reason why truck prices are increasing is because many consumers are buying fully loaded trims. It's just how the market is and it's probably best to keep your truck for 15 plus years or buy a used one and fix it as it breaks.
Current '08 Sierra owner that would love to purchase a new one. NOT going to buy a mandatory option - they need to drop this idea. And if in the future they turn this into a standard feature (meaning it's baked into the price), then I'm still not buying. And Note to self after reading the comments: if/when this becomes a non-issue : NEVER activate OnStar. Heck, even write on the sales contract: OnStar activation declined.
Here is my question I have a 2022 AT4X with this $1500 fee, and am haveing to pay an exter $29.99 monthly for the safety features that are not included in this new program. This is an extra $780 over the 3 years then if you just pay the $49.99 a month plan.
I remember that $29.99 is for the Wi-Fi I canceled my Wi-Fi a few months after I bought my so what about my Turner 2019 they charge me 1500 for skyforce technology and $50 a month for OnStar in $29 a month for Wi-Fi I cancel the Wi-Fi like I said I decide to keep OnStar for 3 years if I don't use it I'm going to cancel it and I did but they did force me to pay the 1500 up front when I bought the truck.
Interesting I just bought a 2022 silverado high country refresh (updated 2022) and it came with the normal introduction package as always for onstar. I did not pay nor agreed to continue the subscription for onstar. Good for one month, if you sign up for 1 year they give one more additional month free. So when does this start exactly is my question. Believe me when I say onstar should be free for as long as you own the truck when you pay 75000 for a half ton. Do I like the truck Hell Yes.
I doubt it and is another fuck your customer move by GMC, my new Sierra (May 2022) has the google maps and they worked for about a month and then nothing sucked finding out you had to subscribe
Good video. Can you do a video on the retrofit chip install update? No one is talking about this and hard to find any updates on trucks getting the installations done. Dealers sold on a promise by GM but have yet to follow through.
If the Onstar subscription is truly a substitute for a price increase, them I completely agree with you. At least you are getting some value for the increase.
Interesting, Does that mean if you paid for the onstar subscription up front that you can take it with you if you trade or sell your truck before it expires? Seems to me that GM will have a problem if they don't give your money back or let you transfer to another vehicle.
Maybe I have it wrong so Brian correct me here if this isn’t the case, I think what people are objecting to is a continuous mandatory annual cost for this service. 100 bills and $1500 plus buck a year? And who’s to say if they have you captive and locked into a contract, that the price won’t go up further in subsequent years.

Bit of a stretch Brian. Other than remote start through the app, there is no value in OnStar. Smartphones have made it redundant, and almost everyone has unlimited data plans these days. @@BrianMello you might be right but I think a lot of people are sick of big companies sucking them dry with subscription based services. I’ve seen my competitors try moving to this model the past years and it’s not accepted and dies off. There is no stream of data in a car that a phone won’t provide. For instance, I work out of my truck and I’m on my phone and laptop constantly. Why would I ever pay to have Wi-Fi on my truck? My phone already has it and I tether through it. I’ll bet the acceptance rate of this paid subscription is extremely low and it’s been available for a long time already.

Hey Brian, so i agree 100% this was not marketed the best way it could, for some of the older generation like myself, it will be a tough sled to pull back a crowd to onstar who have the bad taste of being ripped off by onstar with their 5 different prices per year, i know a handfull of people who at one time all were given different prices for the "direction and connections package, ranging from 120/year to over $400/ CDN of course living in Canada 🇨🇦....i know this is a different onstar now but just like XM , once you start burning customers like that, it never ends well. @@BrianMello i hear you Brian 100% while my initial thought is this is not for everyone, i suppose if you are in sales or just someone who spend a lot of time in your vehicle.....this is worth getting, my hope is Onstar has learned their lessions from the past and stays consistent! Keep up the awsome work sir - always enjoy it!
Or you can purchase a GM cargo van and get Onstar included for a few months or so and get minimal technology such as no Apple CarPlay, no heated seats, no heated steering wheel, a tiny screen on your rear view mirror for the backup camera. In fact, the cargo van has less creature features than the basic work truck from GM.
You’re wrong. Nobody wants onstar. The renewal rate after the free period is 3% or less, meaning it has no value. This is another increase in price with no value added.
I don't disagree with the bad renewal rate, but I think we're entering a different era where having a built in data connection will become more important for people. Just for example, I spoke to a woman who had Onstar and had no idea she had built in wifi so her kids could connect their ipads in the backseat. Apparently whoever set her up never even told her about the service...smh. I see it more as in vehicle data than anything else. At one time everyone thought a data plan for their phone was unnecessary, this reads very similar to me. We'll see what happens, technology is moving crazy fast.
You can add a hot spot to your cell plan for $10, why would I want to be forced to pay 4x that to have one that only works in my truck? And if they’re going to make options you paid for unavailable without onstar, gm can pound sand.
The problem is... people will continue to buy them as prices go higher because, in the case of these overpriced trucks.... they're not buying them to use as trucks. They're buying them as a status symbol, to be seen by others. They really don't care about $1500 more. That's why prices will keep increasing. Toys for most while the people who actually use them for truck purposes.... suffer.
I think it would help a lot if the vehicles themselves were a bit more dependable. All the bells and whistles in the world, and yet they can't keep the lifters intact in their engines. It's ridiculous, honestly. I LIKE the refreshed trucks, and all of the technology that they have available. But if this is what progress means, then start making the 800s again. Those are probably the best trucks they ever made. That was the end of the era of integrity, and now we're in an era where corporate profits rule the roost. Not oily with GM, but with their suppliers as well.
The sad reality is no one is or will be able to afford a new vehicle. Prices are so ridiculous. Like who wants to finance a vehicle and pay $800 a month or wants to lease the same vehicle and pay $600 a month. That’s a ridiculous amount of money especially in the world we’re living in with everything being so expensive. An average person willing to pay that much basically can count on one weeks pay to afford that kind of a payment
Not so much as an excuse as "I'd rather get something than nothing." If that makes sense. As for the smart phones, I think we're going to see that change really soon. I wish I had mentioned it in the video but there are quite a few rumors that Apple will be charging for CarPlay when they roll out their new system. The new system looks incredible if you haven't seen it you can see a preview here - ua-cam.com/video/lFuB8y6dVqc/v-deo.html If they do that, Android will I'm sure do the same. Then, we as consumers will have to decide which systems we want to pay for. None of this I'm a huge fan of at least in their current state which is why I hope these integrated systems increase their value propositions so we feel like we're getting our money's worth. Thanks for watching as always David!
Drive a 2016 Colorado that I got new, They "made' me sign up for onstar because I get 6 months free or something bs talk they gave but I had to cancel before the free ended, I cancelled the day after I drove off the lot and was adamant not to charge me. Ive had the truck 6 years and you want to know how many times I've needed or felt the need to use it, ummmm 0!
Lol u can’t get that built for 60K. AT4 starts at like 64K. If they offered a double cab it wouldn’t be 4K less. I bet it would be 68K with the same options
You do get a discounted price for the services plus unlimited Wi-Fi If you paid for monthly you'd pay spent about $1800 bucks, you're saving about $228 My advice is always to check and make sure the plan is the most currency you get the best savings
Thank you for putting some logical thought into this. While I’ll agree it wasn’t marketed properly at least your getting something tangible versus basically nothing. Anyone that would unsubscribe to you for this is just acting like a child. Keep up the great work!
haha I appreciate it Scott, I saw the first two comments that came through and I was like...jeez people are really taking this OnStar thing personally! I'd prefer it if all the features were free...but that isn't happening. So instead I'm trying to be optimistic in a world where everyone seems to prefer to be angry about everything. I truly appreciate the support, it really does mean a lot and I can't express it enough. Thanks again.

As always very informative. To those who complain about new vehicle pricing it’s really simple, don’t buy a car. I do feel this is $1500 price increase is worth it though.
Knowing that you work for car dealership! you saw gm also raised there EV pricing proir to congress pass there Inflation bill!!!! so on top 1500.00 it is heartbreaking to see !!! I'm long time Gm customer 30 yrs and its making me rethink whether or not my next car will be gm.
What does it matter that I work for an auto group? My thoughts on this would be no different. As I said in the video multiple times, I wish the prices wouldn't go up. I certainly don't want to pay more for my next truck, why would I? Out of curiosity though, If a price increase is making you rethink going GM....who are you going to consider instead when they're all doing it?
What if your new GM vehicle doesn’t have remote start, what if you don’t like the AT&T WI-FI (because AT&T will not stay connected, issue I had with the hotspot) so, now your forced to pay for a hotspot that doesn’t work and you can’t cancel it. Sorry Brian that isn’t working for me. SiriusXM radio was supposed to be add free and now it’s full off adds.

Well… I dont like onstar at all. I’ve owned 6 vehicles over the last 20 years that were equipped with onstar. I don’t see it as being useful and definitely wouldn’t ever start paying for it once the initial time built into the price is over.
Do you use CarPlay Mike? Or Android Auto? What I think is going to happen, and keep in mind this is just some speculation on my end...is that when Apple releases their new enhanced CarPlay, that they're going to require a subscription to use it. There are quite a few rumors circulating in regards to that. If that is the case, I think people will end up having to make a decision as to whether they want to pay for CarPlay, Android Auto, or whatever system the manufacturers provide. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out. Nothing seems to be getting any cheaper that's for sure. Thanks for watching!
@@BrianMello I haven’t used either one yet. My current vehicle is a 2014 Silverado. Apple car play wasn’t offered at the time the vehicle came out. Next vehicle I buy, for sure I’ll be using it.
So I watched your video again. You talk about a data plan you didn't tell people that's an extra cost each month. Which mine was $30 a month until I canceled it. And my $1,500 they forced me to spend was for skyforce technology. they made me sign up for a monthly service plan for OnStar $50 a month and a $30 month plan for Wi-Fi. I'm really confused because I was paying $50 a month for OnStar I get a renewal for my OnStar but then on my contract it says skyforce technology $1,500 I'd imagine that it's that sky Force technology that maybe they renamed and that's what I have to pay for. I keep my vehicle very long time and I have full coverage on my insurance. So if you do the math after 12 years they probably buy a brand new truck for all the money I spent for all those f****** services

100% agree with you on how they handled this the wrong way. Raise the MSRP by $1500 and include 3 years of "complimentary" OnStar service - nobody bats an eye.
For sure, I'm not sure who decided making it an option that isn't really an option was a good idea smh Thanks for watching Stephen!
If it was only that simple. See my comment.

Was on fence between ZL1 or Hellcat for 2023....thanks GM for helping me with my decision.
No you weren’t. 😂
So your fine paying well above msrp for one of the last Hellcats. Ok.

If people stopped having to buy a new vehicle every year to show off to their neighbors, this type of crap would stop.
The keeping up with the Jones's economy is certainly a real one Connor. Thanks for watching!
2 questions: do you want it or do you want others to see you have it? the next one is do you need it or do you just want it. People have a serious problem with both.
There will come a time soon when people will no longer be able to afford them.
Why are they so GREEDY? They’re profits aren’t huge already???? Wtf is going on?!!
Theses vehicles are already WAY OVERPRICED..
Agreed!
Got my ultimate before the added onstar charge but onstar messed up and gave me 3 yrs for free 😂. Oh and got 3 yrs of the internet included as well 👍👍
Now that's a score! How are you liking the new Ultimate? You get it loaded with Super Cruise?
It’s the 6.2 with super cruise and it is a head turner for sure. I really don’t use the super cruise all that much unless I travel and it worked great when I did. The new interior is soooo much better than my 21 AT4!
@@BeamerTime354 ahh man I'm jealous, I haven't even had a chance to try out Super Cruise yet! @@BrianMello I know what you mean by them being gone as soon as they hit the lot. I have the only one in the city I live in and the other one that came in was gone the next morning heading up to Dallas.
Good for you bro…
as much as their vehicles been costing…
They’re TOO expensive now!
and they’re INCREASING THE PRICES…
Smfh…
Anyone know if this is coming to Chevy? I tried looking online but could only find 1 article mentioning a $300 price increase
In Canada, GM just increased the price of their trucks by $5000 on September 1st, unbelievable!
Not a fan of it either, but thanks for your insight regarding the value of OnStar vs just a price increase. Probably won’t deter me from purchasing new Sierra or canyon on near future.
Thanks again Brian
Thanks for watching Ed, hope all is well!
My wife's 2018 gmc yukon three times gmc could not fix the GPS problem or the clock after that they said it was on star problem
Hate the rising prices but I agree with your take. Make it standard equipment and have the salespeople make the buyer very familiar with the service.

GM in Canada just hit trucks with a $3500-5500 price increase last week and it doesn't include the Onstar charge.
I had a question..
If I were to order a new trailboss with the 3.0 duramax would it come as a 2022 or 2023 ?

How long do we get the onstar package for? Since we’re paying $1500 for it. That’s my main concern.
How long is the OnStar Subscription for??
Good for 3 years
Interesting I just bought a 2022 silverado high country refresh (updated 2022) and it came with the normal introduction package as always for onstar.
I locked in the price when I ordered mine in March, when it finally came in July, it was $3000 more if I didn't have price protection.
Your lucky you have yours already. I ordered mine the first of February and still don’t have it!
Does this mandatory onstar subscription include the subscription to google maps/google assistant in the new 2022 Silverado’s?
I doubt it and is another fuck your customer move by GMC, my new Sierra (May 2022) has the google maps and they worked for about a month and then nothing sucked finding out you had to subscribe
You'll have Onstars WiFi so all the Google services will work.
My 2014 Sierra z71 crew cab was 46,000 and now like you said it would be damn near 60,000, just plain ridiculous.
Good video. Can you do a video on the retrofit chip install update? No one is talking about this and hard to find any updates on trucks getting the installations done. Dealers sold on a promise by GM but have yet to follow through.
That's on my list Andy, I'll have an update on that soon! Thanks for watching!
That's a good question John...I'll have to look into that.

You may say all this and your stance but what makes you think gm will start to think “hey, we can start making other things on this vehicle a monthly subscription since people are fine with paying the on star services”
Bit of a stretch Brian. Other than remote start through the app, there is no value in OnStar. Smartphones have made it redundant, and almost everyone has unlimited data plans these days. I have owned 2 GMs with OnStar with 3 month complimentary subscriptions. All it did was demonstrate how little value there was in it.

Ok so here’s the deal. The OnStar deal (even the free trial they’ve always offered) is simply because that’s when most vehicles are repoed, within the first 6 months.
Don’t forget that when you sell the GM vehicle, the Onstar stays with the vehicle, you do not get a prorated refund of the SUBSCRIPTION SERVICE.

Toys for most while the people who actually use them for truck purposes.... suffer.
@@elche1976 yep
Has anyone had microchip installed at the dealer yet. My parking sensors don’t work.
Weak excuse for justifying Onstar.
You already have all those benefits on your smart phone.

Consumers will stop buying vehicles and the vehicle Market will collapse
GM needs to Eliminate this ASAP
Do you know what GM can do with all their garbage vehicles don’t ya????? KEEP EM!!!!
