I am now convinced that they reuse questions. The Dr. Jeckyl question was done before. I remember Charle's answer. At that time, he was the only one to answer "seek." I think Brett said "pelt," and someone else said, "found."
RIP Gene Reyburn, and most of the members of the panel who are no longer with us especially Richard Dawson. Condolences to all families :-(. Having said that, Jo Ann Pflug is stunning :-)
H/H match update: ... Good gravy, Marie! Time sure flies! This is already week 133 of 291 for our favorite classic game show. These episodes were taped on February 7, 1976 and first aired in early March of 1976. It's my favorite sort of panel this week: all old friends! And they're here for a little visit, a few jokes, some zany antics, maybe some catty barbs, as we share a laugh or two. Oh yeah, and maybe we're going to play a game too! Our three stalwart regulars are all in their places with bright, shiny faces. Semi-regular Fannie Flagg is back after a 3-week absence. By the time Match Game '7x is all said and done, Fannie will have been on the panel for 90 weeks total, more than any other celebrity except for our three regulars. And check out the H/H stats on her! (52.6% -- Scroll down to the leader board to see the complete list.) Avery Schreiber is back! We last saw him in episodes 546-550, and this is his sixth week (of 14 total). He's still a H/H virgin. Finally, leader board celebrity Jo Ann Pflug (44.4% accuracy) pays us an overdue visit! We haven't seen her since way back in episode 510. This is her 12th week on the show, and she's only got 14 total, so I hope she manages to get a few more shots at the H/H match to bulk up those excellent stats! Jo Ann is one of the six celebs to have launched this (most famous and longest-lived) iteration of Match Game, appearing on episode #1. (That show aired on July 2, 1973, and the complete panel consisted of: Michael Landon, Vicki Lawrence, Jack Klugman, Jo Ann, Richard, and Anita Gillette.) It's also notable that Richard has yet to miss a single episode! (I'm guessing his oft-mentioned gig at "Newberry's" affords him a lot of freedom!) Speaking of Richard, the past three weeks have been all him as far as the head-to-head match goes. He played all 16 times, and matched nine of them. (An excellent performance for those three weeks.) Will Richard make a clean sweep four weeks in a row? Or will the terrific track records of Fannie and/or Jo Ann attract a contestant eager for a profitable match? Will Avery finally get a shot? And what about Brett and Charles? Are they chopped liver??? They're actually the second and third most-chosen celebs for the H/H match, respectively, but you would hardly know it. Brett last played (and matched) in 641, and CNR last played (and matched) in 631... Today's action: Our champion wins her second game. Today's audience match question: "________ Prayer" (Um, Haven't got a prayer? Bedtime prayer? ) The celebs: Fannie (The Lord's), Richard (A maiden's), and Brett (Silent) - I honestly wouldn't know what to say. I think I'd go with Fannie and The Lord's Prayer... The choice: The Lord's The answers: Wing and a, Say a little, The Lord's (Well, the celebs were one for three!) Whew! Now who will she pick for a chance at $5000? She chose Richard last time but didn't match. Will she stick with him, or maybe try Fannie? She did choose Fannie for the first audience match suggestion after all, and that suggestion earned her $500... This week starts off just like the past three: Richard is chosen to play... Today's H/H question: "Tall _______" Super easy: Tall, dark and handsome. -- I hereby deem that the definitive answer! Richard scratched his face as he thought for a brief moment, but I think he got the "right" answer as he seemed to write forever. When the camera cuts to the contestant, she looks anguished. When Gene asks for her answer, she says "Tall, dark stranger." (Oh! So close!) Of course, I'm just being goofy. I obviously think my answer is better, but who knows? Richard may well have written her long answer instead of mine! (She got a polite round of applause from the audience.) "We almost had it," Richard says, revealing the definitive answer! I'm sorry for the contestant, not matching Richard twice in a row... No match today. Here's the updated leader board showing the 11 celebs with at least 3 H/H matches, ranked by accuracy: Orson Bean - 100% (4 wins in 4 attempts). Gary Burghoff - 83.3% (5 wins in 6 attempts). TIE: Jo Anne Worley - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). TIE: Joyce Bulifant - 75% (3 wins in 4 attempts). Fannie - 52.6% (10 wins in 19 attempts). Betty - 50% (17 wins in 34 attempts). Charles - 47.7% (21 wins in 44 attempts). Jo Ann Pflug - 44.4% (8 wins in 18 attempts). Richard - 40.8% (156 wins in 382 attempts). Brett - 38.5% (20 wins in 52 attempts). Bert Convy - 33.3% (5 wins in 15 attempts). *These stats include every head-to-head match from episode 1 through 661, excluding the lost/missing/damaged episodes: 31, 32, 33, 311, 312, 313, 324, 325, and 645. (As per MatchGameProductions, these episodes "are nowhere to be found and also aren't in the Goodson/Todman Library. Sadly, looks like they are lost forever!")
A copyist is someone who copies music. Today it is done by computer, but her husband most likely did it by hand. This would make it a real painstaking process to duplicate complex arrangements in impecable writing, symbols, etc. Your musical knowledge has to be extensive. Definitely a job with incredible attention to detail.
No, that's exactly what I thought too. I was amazed that there wasn't even ONE beans. I never even thought of garlic. I thought that was dumb for a cowboy! And like"Cross" said, that's all cliched cowboys ate. AND, Blazing Saddles came out what, the year before that? With the famed campfire scene. lol
I sure wish I knew the "inside" context of Richard's "Don't make camera man like they used to!" quip that broke the audience up. (Presumably it referred to something that went on during the commercial period before tape started to roll again)
Wow, nobody said "Mr. Ed" or "Mister Rogers." Five different answers among six panelists. And yes, aj, they do reuse questions. Sometimes multiple times, or at least variations. At least this time they got it right, that Dr. Jeykle took the potion. The last time they switched it, and had Mr. Hyde drinking it. No one noticed.

"Garlic?" Didn't anybody see Blazing Saddles? I know that Gene did. Beans is the correct answer! Who has garlic handy out on the prairie? But everybody ate beans, with the predictable result. Of course, she still would have lost.

annoying Jimmie for sure. I can deal with Kate because she is pretty and Patti is funny and I love her oddball answers even if she doesnt really try to match
I wish I would have done the same. It was PAINFUL! That talent less, stupid Jimmy Walker. And the annoying, obnoxious Brett Somers. I'm not sure which was worse? But they were Both miserable!! Kate was different this time. She gave good answers, smiled, joked around some, she must have got more comfortable on there now? But she still had a hard time getting much attention as did everyone else with the two morons (JW & BS) trying to direct all the attention to themselves. And Patti, is well, just Patti.

@R Don't blame it on the producers. Walker had that same obnoxious persona wherever he was: game shows, interviews, talk shows, and so on. He disappeared from television when enough people finally figured out that that's all there was to him.
I am now convinced that they reuse questions. The Dr. Jeckyl question was done before. I remember Charle's answer. At that time, he was the only one to answer "seek." I think Brett said "pelt," and someone else said, "found."
Reused, to a point: previously, the potion focused on Dr. Jekyll...
Instead of turning into Mr Hyde, he turned into Mr Magoo.
Gene could be a model. He has so many fabulous suits and wears them well. Love Brett, Charles and of course Richard!

Well said, and Jo Ann is I think one of the prettiest stars they had.
Nice to see that she is still alive as of 7/2021.
Interestingly, Brett and Charles died the same year. 2007.

This was a very good show. Richard Dawson is adorable in this episode. Gene is hilarious!
18:00 I thought the answer would have been _Beans,_ being a cowboy living out on the prairie and such...
Poor Joan doesn't know how many kids she has lol
Lol maybe she was confused between biological kids and through marriage....sounded like a Brady Bunch situation.
A strange thing happened to Dr. Jeckyll. When he drank his potion he didn't turn in Mr. Hyde. Instead he turned into Mr. Ed
First thing that popped into my head was Mr. Whipple. Please don't squeeze the Charmin.
Oh my God! Thank you! I'm so glad I'm not the only one, Mr. Ed was the first answer that popped into my head to
REPEAT QUESTION... 3-4th TIME FOR SAME QUESTION

I thought of Mr. Rogers for the Dr. Jekyll question.

You can't eat nothing but garlic but beans you can live on.
I immediately thought of "turned into Mr. ED", then thought of Mr. Rogers. I thought sure enough one of those would come up. 🤔
This window is closes..so funny fannie
My first guess was Mr. Goodbar. Mr. Rogers would also have been good.

Joan is almost the Brady Bunch
ROFL!! Ok another good episode.. Every season you got to give them time to get good. ;0)
I love Gene's suit, and most of them I do. If I was a contestant I would have told him so. 😉
No no no, Mr. Frankenstein works PERFECTLY if you can't think of anything. They love him on this show.
Actually the song title is "I say a little prayer"...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Say_a_Little_Prayer?wprov=sfla1
Gene and Richard are having a really good hair day. :P
I think this is the most flattering cut/style for Gene's hair I've seen to date.
No Jimmie or Pattie? Yay! :)
IMHO Jimmie and Pattie may be the two worst players of the semi-regulars, more interested in getting their own laughs than progressing the players.
I'll take Jimmie over Pattie ANY day!
