My favorite thing about peggy is he always sounds like he enjoys doing what he does, and doesn't care what people think. Hes just having fun. And its awesome
fun fact: the part in panic emoji that sounds like a shower peggy was actually recording that part while sitting in the bath tub with the water running having a panic attack, hence the shaky vocals and the name of the song
To me the most appealing part of this album is the way that it almost feels like you are flipping through channels on a TV, and you are never stuck on any single track for long enough. And as you go further it just gets darker and darker
37:58 “This music is um. It takes a certain ear, and people who like it like it, and people who dislike it.. it scares the hoes, right?” Kevin is just the greatest 😂
If you eventually get to LP! I strongly suggest listening to the offline version as the spotify version was not the intended product and a bunch of songs and parts in some songs had to be cut or stripped down due to licensing issues (offline is on his youtube and bandcamp just not spotify or apple music) (+ the last few songs on Spotify are just songs from EP!)
Spotify version is fixed unless they have changed something in the last few weeks. They had both versions, Offline version sounded exactly like the bandcamp release. But like I said, haven't listened to it in a few weeks so maybe it got taken down?
@@Cornincarnate no some songs are different or not the original mix for example listen to the band camp/offline what kind of rappin is this and the online version they’re different
So glad you're going through the Peggy catalogue. I CANNOT wait for the Cornballs listen. I've always had such admiration for the clashing and harmony between the chaotic production and harsh lyrics to the ethereal moments of release in softer sections. He somehow makes it all cohesive and an incredible listening experience.
They're definitely going to at some point. Hopefully Kevins enjoyment of all these Experimental albums will fast track us to more injury Reserve and death grips and shit
8:54 I was tripping balls when I first heard this album and it was actually a really cool experience haha. All the weird sounds and great uses of samples were kinda overwhelming, but in the end it made the album even more impactful for me. I listened to it 3 times that day and I'm in love with it since.
This album and black midi’s schlagenheim really opened my eyes to how good textured and complex music could be. They both came out around the time I really started to branch out to a lot of new genres. This album has consistently been in my rotation for years now. Easily one of the best albums of the last decade

I had a crazy ass weekend one time, where I had 3 tabs of acid and over the course of two days i listened to this album maybe 8 or 9 times on my home stereo system while out of my mind. Best way to experience the album tbh
As someone stoned on the bus on his way to work I can say “Thug Tears” was terrifying. It sounded like the alien from AvP was in my ear half the song!!
Peggy also produced another track yall listened to, "John Wayne" on Denzel's Melt My Eyez And yes, he was in the shower in "Panic Emoji" he recorded it while having a panic attack
In the spirit of boundary-pushing music, I'd love to see a reaction to Visions of Bodies Being Burned - clipping. Unlike any sonic experience I've ever had. My favorite of theirs!
This is a controversial opinion, but I think this album is just as good as TPAB. The weirdo production is so interesting, and the way it speaks to modern political and social conversations is mind blowing.
yeah i disagree hard with this lol. not about you thinking it's better than TPAB, that's fair, bu how is the social commentary in this "mind-blowing"? its a guy spewing edgy shit as a reaction to all the racist hate he faced in his life
iirc Peggy clicked pens whenever he’s on the verge of an anxiety attack, and that’s what the beat is made of on Thug Tears, you’re hearing a pen, clicking also during Panic Emoji, he was recording in the bath with the water running, either having a panic attack, or again on the verge of one
