Kane needs service. He's a fabulous centre-forward but he can't do it all himself. When he gets a chance he usually hits the target (it took a great save to stop his header).
His one error was not getting into the 6 yard box for Kyle Walker's superb cross.

Problem is we’ve seen Watkins start and hardly touch the ball so it’s the service from the rest of the team that’s the problem

@@LG26 Southgate needs to man up, that’s all it takes. The players are there, it’s not Kame’s fault they can’t get a decent cross into him. Last night was similar with Portugal, loads of possession and hardly a decent ball into the box. Early days though.

@@causingerruckus4091 If you listen to what he says, my belief is he watches brief highlights and picks up on the general gist of what has be said and then delivers them next morning. Whether that is true or not I don’t know but there’s never any depth to his opinions. They just sound lazy and generic. Surprise because he was a great player and there was a time he provided real insight☹️

@@denisako6493Yh after day 1 or day 2 it’s been like 3 days and we’re still acting like we lost. Whilst seeing other elite top tier nations now have unconvincing scorelines too. Was the performance perfect? No chance but genuinely how many teams that have won it all have scored like 4 goals every single game
Kane's going to be the reason we lose this tournament. He rely to much on him and try. He played woeful, plays like that against Denmark, we'll struggle
Kane is probably 80% fit, not enough at this level. Also Southgate going without a proper fit left back is scandalous imo.
The answer is simple. Don't play Kane against teams which sit deep against us as its like playing with 10 men. Pack the midfield with another body and use Bellingham as a False 9.
It’s not if you have wingers that are hitting the byline and getting crosses in you can’t play narrow because kanes probably at his most dangerous in the box not with his back to goal. Playing a false 9 isn’t a bad idea though

I don't think he was awful tbh.
He was man marked. He had a tussle all game, had hardly any touches but hit te post and had a point blank shot incredibly saved.
He's hardly kicked a ball competitively for weeks now too.
While he's tied up with defenders, he's tiring them out. In the last half an hour we can exploit those tired legs with the likes of saka foden palmer Bellingham Eze etc
I don't see why Harry's getting any criticism at all if I'm honest.

A win shouldn’t excuse the actual performance. Saka was one our best players in the first half, second half he began to slow down and he wasn’t able to be as effective because they had figured him out. Southgate never made a change to LW, Foden played the whole game and looked like a deer in headlights out there
Southgate talking “preserving energy” what a melon. We’ve got 10 subs sitting on the bench and he comes out with nonsense like that. Serbia had us on the ropes the last 20 minutes, Pickford made more saves than he should’ve had to. Rice cleaning up in midfield recovering balls that were given away sloppily
I feel a little better after seeing a few of the big teams not exactly set the opening games on fire...maybe if we have a blinder against Denmark, that'll calm it all down.
Scotland are the 4th best team in there group.
To suggest Scotland should beat any of these teams is a stretch.

England should play 4-4-2 formation or 4-1-3-2 formation , we need quality and numbers in the midfield . Play in Wharton , Mainoo , Rice , Bellingham together , and play Forden and Kane upfront . Bellingham , Forden and Kane will score the goals . We dont need wingers to drop and assist defence at this stage , we need midfield that links defence , mid and attack .

Kane is a bit of a sacred cow, but nobody should be undroppable. I certainly wouldn't be dropping him after one game, but it's something Southgate needs to keep an eye on. There is no long-term to consider here, just this few weeks in June and July. If a player (any player) isn't doing it here and now, for whatever reason, then he has to be vulnerable.

To have such good wingers in Saka , EZe , what was the point in playing penal-Kane😂. With great wingers I would have gone Anthony or Watkins. For me either kane listen and stay at his position as a 9 or bench him. England already have confusion at the 10 position where both Kane, Bellingham and Foden keep walking over one another. That was a lucky win .
There is nothing wrong with Kanes fitness - it’s our system that takes him out of the game - how can you score goals if you don’t create chances? - even then he would still have scored if it hadn’t been for a WC save

You can't blame Kane. He didn't get the ball, it rarely ever came to him. This happens from time to time when you are a striker. He had one chance and got a decent header on goal which was saved. I'd prefer it if Kane stayed on the last defender more often, but he likes dropping deep and it works for him.
It works for him but doesn't work for the rest of the team

Kane wasn't great against Serbia, but nearly scored with the only cross delivered to him in the entire 2nd half, cleared an effort off the line, and won a few free kicks near the end of the game when isolated up front. He had no supply from the left because Foden didn't want to be there. Gordon or the omitted Grealish would've provided this supply. Hence, the blame lies with team selection and Southgate's negative tactics.
Rice is a 6 he should be the one taking the ball from the defenders

Interesting point on Foden after all the plaudits he got last season. He's supposed to be better than Saka but Saka's not afraid to use his weaker foot. Foden cut inside every time.
Saka plays in a different position. Foden is better number 10.
@@environm3ntalist549 maybe he is but he's not a better number 10 than Bellingham so if he wants to play he needs to deal with that. It blows my mind that players on £300k a week won't use their weaker foot.
@@creasicle I think he is a better number 10 than Bellingham. Furthermore, Belingham's best position is number 8. That is the position he made his name in at Dortmund, it is the position he has played in for the latter half of the season at madrid and it is his main position he will be playing at Madrid next season with Mbappe arriving. Foden was not being helped by Southgate's set up. Having Trippier as your non overlapping full back hampers you playing that position. Look at the support Saka had from Walker.
Bring Gordon in for balance on the left, bench Foden not his fault he doesn't do it on the left, give Jude 70 mins and being foden on if we need goals. Cant drop Kane, he won't drop Kane.

I think Southgate should play Bellingham in no 8 position alongside rice in order to see Foden in No 10 position
Foden played 10 in the Iceland friendly and put in one of his worst performances for England. Bellingham is more direct and that’s what we need, he’ll attack defenders head on instead of just passing the ball backwards anytime you’re under pressure

The problem with England is Southgate, but the majority of presenters do not want to state that, because they are scared of not getting access to the FA. He has never done anything in the managerial game that can be called successful. he is just a front man. He should be sacked and they should bring in somebody that knows the game.

Kane was terrible, he kept on coming deep. Kane would be better playing behind an out and out attacker if he keeps on dropping deep. Foden was terrible as well, a lot of them looked fatigued in the second half.

There is a balance that must be walked. Kane is a player who seemingly needs touches of the ball and to get involved in build up. It's not a great strength of his to play with his back to goal as seen against Serbia where he got bullied. He needs more freedom in my opinion to pop up in different places and he will get goals. He can't have another performance where he touches the ball only 2/3 times per 45.
