- Hi, this video shows you step by step how to change the oil, oil filter and the cabin (pollen) filter and then reset the service indicator on a 2012 Mercedes C180 (UK car).
I use an oil extractor (approx. £55) which makes the whole process very simple without having to get under the car. I find the hardest part of the service is changing the cabin filter due to the location of it.
All the parts were bought on the internet (eBay and carparts4less)for much less then price of the main dealers even though they are Mercedes parts.
Many thanks Vince - Навчання та стиль
Cannot believe there are so many inane comments below....this video is gold to a C Class owner...brilliant video...
Thanks Terry :-)
Best explanation on the net
That’s the last time I pay £200 to have my oil changed
Many thanks mate
Same as , don’t own a Merc but couldn’t stop watching!!! So well explained, great video. 👌🏻👍🏻
Went to an independent specialist today for a quote on oil and oil filter and air filter service and got quoted £380!! Went on eBay and got the parts for around £60 and I’ve been dreading jacking the car up and getting under it in the mud and wet. Searched for videos and this one popped up and thought I recognised your voice 😂 I’ve been watching you for years fix electronics!
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you for showing us the suction trick. I no longer have to dread lying down in the dirt and I can do my oil quickly and without mess!
Thank you so much! I follow these steps and save the ton of money. Nice work.
I did not know there is available an oil extractor. Very useful tool. Good simple video. Very informative.
Awesome job. Very detailed and informative. Thx for the video.
Great vid. And very sunny day for the UK, 27 degrees!
Excellent video. Thank you. Note that I do not have oil pump extractor. I therefore drain oil from outlet on sump which entails removing two "shield plates" from under engine, one made of steel, the second made of plastic. Quite awkward to access and time consuming though. When I undertake an oil change using this method, I extract 7.2 litres of oil. I normally let the oil drain for about 4 to 6 hours. I use Castrol Magnatec oil. My car is almost identical to the one in the video, i.e. Mercedes Benz C200 saloon, 2012 model, W204.
Great video and clear guidance many thanks for your time 👍
Thank you for showing us how a C180 looks like. Here in America a C250 is the lowest Benz number that is sold on the C class. Great pump to remove old oil...I might buy one. Thank you!
C180/200/250 with Turbocharger (CGI engines) looks the same. Only differences are between turbocharger (C180/200/250 CGI, in US from 2011, only C250) and supercharger (C180/200 KOMPRESSOR, only until 2010, not available in US) models
Really solid video. Appreciate it
This will be useful for when I service my recently acquired W204 C200 CDI The pollen filter looks to be one of the easier ones to change. I use Bosch filters on my own cars and they are noticeably better quality and usually don't cost all that much more.
Good job Vince , i like Mercedes Benz C Class .
Brilliant video and practical guide. What you say about the majority of an official dealer service with it mostly being checks is oh so true, the UK yearly MOT covers almost all of those so WHY pay twice by having a dealer/specialist do it?
Fantastic video and really helpful. Made me confident about having a go! Thank you!
Brilliant video. You make amazing content Vince!
Thank you so much :-)
Thanks for posting the video!!
Great video. Would you be able to post one on replacing the engine air filters?
Great video. Very well explained. Nice work.
So relaxing. Do more car videos
Thank you very much for your video! Can you tell me please what is the box in the right side of the box of coolant level?
Good video Vince now I know how to do a oil change with the extractor
You are amazing dude... Thanks for sharing this.
As you showed, "there is more oil coming out now". That's why you should pull the filter first thing while you're setting up. Those O-rings and a check valve in the housing are holding oil up top for the filter on startup. You should let that old oil drain back to the pan before you start pumping. Otherwise, very nice presentation.
I agree I like to see the drain plug for contamination but this is still very helpful that you can still go under the car check the drain plug without accident of spilling oil all over the place good for beginners plus some garages drain it the same but very explanatory for a beginner cool
Beautiful demonstration !!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks you Mate Vince for your sharing knowledge DIY mercy
Great video, very helpful!! Greetings from Peru
Great video Vince.
Thanks :-)
Excellent....learnt loads from ur video.👌ignore the negative comments.....they are just jealous 😜
Great job!
Really good job! Thank you very much!
Thank you so much, this is so important and informative.
Interesting. On the w203 the cabin (pollen) filter can be accessed in 30 seconds very easy on the top left part when you open the engine bonnet. I don't know why they made it so complicate on the next gen 204. Very nice movie, thanks.
They did it so they could charge you more for having to do it for you. Another hours labour
Great Job! Many thanks
Hey Vince! First of all: a very informative video you've got here.
But, do me a favour: don't put your shiny new oil filter down on the ground.
Great video, thank you so much
Well done mate,★
Very nice. Congratulations
Really liked your video Vince, and have now almost completed my B1 service with your help. Everything went OK replacing the cabin filter except for replacing those little clamps. How in the world do you get them back on?
Nice video keep it up Thanks :)
you legend, I have extactly the same car so this is a godsend (especially hearing it from a fellow Englishman)
Great video!
*sent with Mercedes Benz C Class
Great vudeo , very useful!!!
nice video. that extractor is a great idea . i personally wouldn't leave the tube on the ground without throughly wiping it off
I've got the same engine but its a c250 takes 5.5 litres too. I've noticed when checking the oil it doesn't show max on the dipstick but rather in between min and max. Have you experienced the same?
Fantastic video mate. It is very helpful
Great idea ....but what about the particles you can't suck out?
Man Thanks à lot... Very useful vidéo 🙏
Excellent videos, well explained & one of the best ive seen for the w204 c180...... do you do the spark plugs too?
Thanks Vince I changed my oil as per your video it was a piece of cake, do you change the transmission ?
thanks for sharing!
Cool video well detailed 😎👍🏾
this video is useful since i plan to get a w204 sometime in future but that oil filter is so unconventional!
very helpful video thanks
Idk why I'm watching I'm 13 still like the vid
God bless you mate I’m about to service my car soon
Excellent video..the only bit i dont really agree with is the oil change bit..id always choose the sump plug drain..but good bit of kit if ones rushing
Vince you’re doing great man 👌
Brilliant mate saved so much money 💰
Am impressed with your lecture
Thank you so much your video is amazing
Where is the throttle body? Can you perform throttle body and air mas sensor cleaning?
good very helpful video thanks
Great video. i was wondering about the oil specs.was it 5w40 229.5 ?
Supper video well done Bro very intressing very clear can't wait for next video
Excellent. Bless you!
Great job 👏
This is the best you tube video EVER!!!!!
17:46 Never close hood like that. Even owner's manual says, you should drop hood from 20-30cm for proper close
nice i've learned a lot
Wel done thanks 😊
Solid video brother
Very helpful
well, I did the filter and oil change on the "same" Merk engine(M271DE18)my car is a SLK 250 and it took 6,5 liters to get oil level MAX on deep stick. Oil 5W-40 MB 229.5
I expected this video to be called how to play games using a Mercedes-Benz lol.
Ramz "How to play Fortnite on a Mercedes C Class Sat Nav"
Or Mario Kart 8 using the Mercedes steering wheel :-)
Haha, that would be amazing. :)
My Mate VINCE I feel like you will some how make it happen lol
My Mate VINCE knowing you, you would probably hack the Mercedes sync and connect the switch to it or some crazy stuff like that 😅 much love vince, big fan
What is an engine control wheel in a 2012 Benz c180
What oil brand do you use? And how much kilometers for the next oil change?
Great tutorial! Are you satisfied with your car and the engine? I'm thinking of buying one for myself. Btw aren't you suppose to change the O-ring below the engine where you usually empty your oil?
Yes, but only if you remove it to drain the oil and check the magnetic sump plug for metal traces ( wear and tear from engine parts)
Is this petrol Mercedes-Benz C180 Elegance? What is MPG like? Is the reliability ok?
Hi Vince. I have a merc c220cdi 2011. Im trying to find the location of the EGR but cant seem to locate it. Do you know where its located? Thanks
When did you change engine air cleaner
very good video.
The big 'O' ring has only one groove pos right?
If I miss my B5 service due date what grace driving period do I have?
I use one of them on my jet ski but i wouldnt do it on a car as any fine metal particles that are in the oil wont get sucked out as the sump bolt it magnetic and will be stuck to that only reason i do it on my ski as they dont have drain plugs
what can this guy not do
Hi, I have a W204 C180 petrol 2011. Any idea where the fuel filter is?
I always clean the filter head from old oil before putting the new filter on
very nice
Very very Veryyyyyy NICE!!!!!!! thx
Great Vid. I'm a proud owner of this model. Love it. Do you know why these, Audi's etc are noisy when you first start them ? After about 30 seconds they are dead quiet. Cheers.
Hi. I've owned a few of these C Class's with the 1.8 16 valve engines and they all rattle for a few seconds on start ups, but only when cold! I have been reliably informed by my mechanic, Mercedes specialist, that this is quite normal as the engines have hydraulic tappets and it takes a few moments for the thicker oil when cold to feed up to them. Cheers, Jon.
i own a C200 Kompressor W204. but i noticed when i sent my car to Mercedes service center. they uses almost 7 liters of Oil. ist correct to use 7 liters of 5.5 liters?
Hey. Mine is a 2009 W204 C180 with supercharger. Its a 1.6 not a 1.8 and I service it myself. Always 5.5 going in. Idk wtf they do with 7 liters.
first comment and i like the xbox one x and switch and ps4 and pc
Im surprised how well auto captions pick up this video
Yes sir, can you plz help me out with my problem, troble code p0045, its says supercharger boost control solenoid circuit A open, if have idea, can plz share it to me,tnx
You drained under 5.5L of oi what happened to the rest? burned off?
Full service?? Not sure about that
Whats the reason of draining the engine oil?
the motor intake Airfilter then ???
