Thank you QBKing, I've always found your videos the most helpful not just for my Nexus 7 but also my Galaxy S3 :)
I had just one problem while unrooting. When I tried unrooting, it did open up the cmd, everything was going okay until it got stuck on sending system. It sat there for like 3 hours. I disconnected my nexus, I know I shouldn't but I did and tried again. Same problem. It says failed to boot when ever I boot my nexus and sits on sending system. PLEASE HELP ME!
SuperSU never succeeds in updateing for me...
I've a nexus 7 2013 version. It shows the fastboot connectivity failed. I'm unable to give fastboot commands from command prompt as well. Pls help me with this.
I'd check and see if there are any updates... but after there unlock and root it, because unlocking it resets the phone
You are very welcome! Happy to help :)
Thanks for the kind words!

Excellent video, thanks. I've just rooted my NEXUS 7 on my Mac using Parallels 7, running Win 7. Zero issues. Super easy and very clear instructions. Many thanks.
Doing that doesnt remove the play store app
Did you have to un-root it before you took it back to get the speaker fixed or is this the new one?
Glad you got it!!
i dont have an "automatic driver configuration"...and i only have 3 steps for installing drivers.can you help ?i am not conformable in manually following the instructions in those 3 steps since i dont know what it says.
Hey man, thanks for this video, it's what I needed. I'm a noob at Android and you helped me down the road with clarity. Thanks!
Yep I show how to install a custom recovery in this vid!
When I'm installing the drivers at step 3 when it test if a have adb it says I don't and I tried all of the troubleshooting options and in the device manager it even says it detects google nexus 7 adb interface. Help please.
at the end of the video, you made a nandroid backup using the cwm
couldnt you have done a full nandroid backup in the beginning at the part when you were in the nexus toolkit part?
if you could do it there, would you still need to do it in cmw?

When I'm installing the drivers at step 3 when it test if a have adb it says I don't and I tried all of the troubleshooting options and in the device manager it even says it detects google nexus 7 adb interface. Help please.

Sure... are you running into issues when trying to install the drivers?
I followed this tutorial, but in the end when I try go access SuperSu I got the following message "There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSu cannot install it. This is a problem!.
If you upgraded to Android 4.3, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!"
When I rooted my nexus 7 I was already on version 4.3 and used nexus tool kit v1.7.2, should I repeat the procedure ?, maybe try diferent drivers ?
Any help would be appreciated.
When doing the factory reset does that wipe your internal sd? Should you partition the internal sd?
es file explorer... you have to go into settings to turn it on
Awesome video. Can't wait to have my hands on one. Hopefully won't be long!
i need to download a twrp recovery to root my nexus please help it is not dowloading
troubleshoot: When i attempt to update my driver, it says my driver is already up to date. I get MTP USB Device instead of Android ADB interface. what do?
I'm trying to root my N7 but I found my N7 is Android4.1.1 (JRO03S) which doesn't show on "selection of your device" in Tool kit. What should I choose?
i have the google nexus connected to my computer and i have the right build and it says when i press unlock that it cant find a adb device?
for some reason i've been having a lot of problems. It wouldn't automatically download the openrecovery and i manually downloaded that. But the " modified_boot_nakasi_4.1.2_JZO54K.img "isn't there and won't download automatically or manually. I can't find it anywhere.
Is there a mirror somewhere could someone email it to me
which android build did you select from the toolkit 'model type' options? I have 4.1.2 also
I clicked on the Full Driver Installation on Root Toolkit v1.6.1 and there's no 'automatic driver configuration' option like there is on yours. The only options are 'launch device manager' and 'launch usbdeview' How do I proceed?
I got TWRP instead of the CWM options. I am trying to add the roms for my emulators and the Nexus is not showing any of the folders to install the roms in. I am now stuck on dumb, do I need to do another reboot and uncheck TWRP or something because the back up I have on my computer transfered more files than is showing right now on the nexus. FYI the back up doesn't save your apps at all. Luckily the google account backs up your play store purchases so you can reinstall them.
What issue are you having?
trying to install drivers while in bootloader. wont install adb driver, only bootloader interface. any thoughts?
with the nexus toolkit i am asked to download TWRP recovery v 2.4.1.0. not able to do that. the file wont download from the site. anny1 got a mirror for that file?
how long should the android apps take to back up? I had system apps+data and shared data ticked, and now it has been stuck backing up shared data for about half an hour.. please help??! :(
at 14:20 if you already made a full backup during the nexus root tools process, like before you unlocked it. do you need to make a nandroid in cmw still?
thx
@qbking77...you mentioned that installing CWM will disable any OTA firmware updates...so if I choose not to install it I'm good to go any time Google pushes updates?
if you have a moment im a total noob at this and i have a whole bunch of apps i want to backup but i was wondering if i only had to backup those apps or with the internal storage? I also dont no how to back that up in the first place and is that necessary if i only want to back up certain apps thanks
quick question in the latest releave toolkit version v1.6.1 does it not install the recovery anymore? because i just tried to reboot into recovery and it dosent pick it up and infact it said that it would use the TWRP recovery.
When you backup your nexus 7 does it automatticaly put the files in? Or do you have to do it mannaully
this can be done on the nexus 16gb as well correct?
Does it work 4.3 Jellybean for nexus 7 (2012). And if i just want root access should i have permanent CWM? You said "if you want root access click do not flash CWM but if you want cwm click do not flash cwm!!!" WHICH SHOULD I CHOOSE???
So does that mean that if I do not install clockworkmod than I can still have over the air updates?
Do I need the drivers cos I kinda skipped it and then tried backing it up, but it just stays on that and won't let me do anything, please help I'm new to this kind of stuff
I unlocked my Nexus 7. But when the root process is finished, I have no SuperSU app in my app drawer. Also, during the unlock or root process, I would have to manually go on Bootloader for the process to continue. It never managed to activate the bootloader by itself. Any idea why the app is not automatically installed on my nexus? I checked with Root checker and my device is not rooted.
Once I root my device are there any other updates I need to stay aware of or is that all you have to do, and also once I root will I be able to update my device to a new a update of jellybean.
I tried to install the toolkit but I get a message that "An instance of Nexus Root Toolkit is already running..." I tried uninstalling my galaxy nexus toolkit but still get the message. Any advise? Thanks
Okay so i just recieved my nexus tablet and its android version 4.1 its not on 4.1.1 yet but can i still root it using this video just the only difference is the android version?
If i want to install Franco Kernel & Liquid Smooth rom, do I need to flash clockwork mod? I got a little confused in that part and custom rooms are one of the big reasons why I want to root my Nexus 7.

Hi QBKING77.
After the unlock of my Nexus 7 4.2.1 if i press the power and volume buttons, the boot loader screen doesn't appear !!!! Is it normal ? I tried also to root it but is the same !!!
Thanks Tim, I have successfully rooted my Nexus 7. I have only one question.
On my google account, it says no device is connected with this account. Tell me is there any possibility to that again without unrooting my device?
My account is connected, when I delete app from history on device, on pc it also disappears. But device connection is not visible.
Silly question: whats the advantage of unlocking and rooting a nexus 7 (no sim card) device? Are there apps worth it? What happens after updating from jb 4.1.1 to 4.2?
I got version 1.5.3 and I checked my nexus 7 and found it on build JR003D so I made sure to select that version and not the JR003C version. I am on the screen to install drivers and dont see that automatic drivers for Windows 7 option. But it is all good I am not fully ready yet to root this device. I have backed up everything on the internal storage. I am hoping it backed up the internal storage of my purchase of MAX PAYNE and the DOCS to go App. I dont know where that info is stored?
if i want to istall cool things like boot screens do i need cwm?
hi,i dont know where the toolkit link is,it takes me to the websight and all i see are comments and answers, help me someone,i really want to root my tablet, thanks
what if i launched quickboot and the android with a danger caption show up what should i do?
I folowed the instructions and i have Nexus Root Toolkit ver1.6.4 and when i click root it doesnt work and i have unlocked bootloader!?
What if after I rooted without CWM Recovery and then later I wanted to flash CWM...what do I do ?

Avast finds a suspicious file when I try to install the toolkit. Should I just ignore it?
