    Note: boil or steam your chopped ginger and garlic for a few minutes (until soft) BEFORE adding to the plate. Jamie does this in the same pot as the broccoli and cauliflower, which gives the vegetables a nice flavor.

    Hi Bryan, I just want to add that since your viewers are passionate about health and longevity, that if you chop your broccoli and cauliflower and let it rest in room temperature open air, then it allows the enzyme in broccoli (myrosinase), which is activated when chopped, to convert more glucoraphanin into sulforaphane, thereby doubling its content! Sulforaphane is the strongest known anti-cancer compound known to us in our food! Same benefits apply for cauliflower.
    Also, steam the veggies instead of boiling for maximum nutrition preservation.
    Just want to share for those who are extra passionate! 🙌

    I've been doing a dish like this for about five years. I only boil the veggies for about 3-4 min. I season it with a little salt and pepper, then add a table spoon of Bragg Liquid Aminos, and about a table spoon of Flaxseed oil. The taste is amazing. If you use potatoes then boil for about 10min and add the veggies in the last 4 minutes. Super easy and super good for you.
    You can use different types of beans for variety instead of lentils all the time. I use tin beans as they are quick and easy.

    • @shaynaformity1384
      @shaynaformity1384 10 місяців тому +13

      If you're doing the calorie restriction that's part of the Blueprint Protocol, it's important to use lentils, and especially black lentils, for the increased nutrient density. Also, beans contain more phytate than lentils, which reduce absorption of minerals such as iron, calcium, and magnesium. That's why the recipe calls for lentils and not beans.

    Not sure if you are still reading comments of older videos but here goes my experience with this meal:
    So I prepared this today and I don't know how you can eat it but the Cumin or the Ginger is just way too strong of a taste. It is very difficult to eat and I am not surprised you need 30 minutes to get this down.
    Maybe it is because I used grounded ginger ? Maybe my weight is off but I made sure to just use 3g of ginger and one tablespoon of cumin.
    I boiled broccoli and cauliflower for 8 minutes. Sadly, local supermarket is renovating and didn't have any shiitake shrooms left.
    Anyways, the cumin and ginger should blend more with the rest. It is way too strong of a taste and smell. Not that it tastes horrible but I think I definitely need to blend it to get it down my throat easier and stick to this meal. Definitely healthy, but not for the faint of heart if the ginger and cumin is not blended properly.
    EDIT: The grounded cumin and ginger sticks to the broccoli and cauliflower. I see now that you already posted a solution to boil the ginger with the cauliflower and broccoli in the comment section. That makes much more sense and will help with the strong taste.

I hope you’ll do this for all the recipes ❤ the only request I’d add is to include the dry weight of lentils and mushrooms since most people buy and store these dried for cost/budget reasons and because it doesn’t make sense to weigh lentils after cooking else you’ll almost always make too much or too little. For other recipes using grams over volume is also always preferred because it’s way more accurate and clear.

    I do similar stuff. Carrots, onions, red bell peppers, chia seed, garlic, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, extra virgin olive oil and an egg. This is what I eat daily. Btw many of these veggies are just placed raw in glass jars that I store in the freezer. I put the lid off and microwave it a bit so it gets unstuck and I can throw it in a pot and boil it for a bit..then add garlic seperately and olive oil once its a bit more cool. Every 5 days I add a can of tuna in it.. other 5 days I eat rutebaga with meat sauce.. I switch between the two. This is only for lunch of course which I have it at 11 am.. at 5 pm I eat some mushrooms with sweet potato, onion and another clove of garlic. ...... my deserts are yogurt with honey. If I fancy some acrylamide in me I dont eat bread but rather make myself twice a month a pizza with mushrooms, cheese tomato sauce.

      Carrots are not natural, they have artificial sugar and size. Just to put a fact here. In nature as it is, there are no carrots, bananas nor tomatoes like we find in markets. google up "wild bananas" and such. Watch out!
      also: NEVER BOIL your veggies, eat them raw, or in case of some hard stuff like potatoes and brocolli, STEAM IT. if you boil ANYTHING it will not leave much, just fiber and flavour will be lft, the nutrients are all gone... Never boil food!
      If you want a warm meal, just heat it for a warm temperature, NO BOILING!
      By the way, eggs have bad cholesterol. Go for a vegan diet and be 100% healthy.

    • @jasonR2
      @jasonR2 11 місяців тому +2

      This is flawed in so many ways.
      Firstly, why are you eating so many root vegetables, and vegetables in general? Vegetables are not optimal for human health. Many of the nutrients that support the thought of them being "superfoods" are not bioavailable, meaning our body cannot absorb and use them. Vegetables are also extremely high in defense chemicals
      From a biological standpoint, the leaves, stems, roots, and seeds of a plant are what keeps it alive and gives it the ability to reproduce and pass its DNA onto the next generation. If vegetables did not defend these parts of them, they would not live, they would not reproduce, and they would have gone extinct. Thus, due to the principles of natural selection, vegetables have evolved to contain defense chemicals that deter predators from consuming them and thus have a better chance of survival. These defense chemicals make the plant taste bitter, give you bloating, joint pain, inflammation, etc. Other unwanted compounds such as oxalates are very much present in all of the foods you mentioned.
      The part of the plant it does want us to eat, however, is the fruit. Fruit is the least toxic, healthiest, and most nutrient dense source of carbohydrates homo-sapiens have access to, and are evolutionarily designed to seek out. They are not highly defended with the aforementioned defense chemicals, because the plant wants roaming animals to eat their fruit, digest everything but the seeds, and poop them out, where the seeds are then provided an optimal environment to grow.
      Furthermore, the most nutrient dense protein and fat sources are from animals. Ground beef is humble, it contains much of the connective tissue modern humans often miss out in their diet, and it is very affordable. Next up are organs. Organs are magical. They contain SOOO many essential nutrients in their most bioavailable forms, and our bodies love them. Liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc.
      And finally, cow meat is the best meat. Cows are a ruminant animal, meaning they have three-chambered stomachs, and thus can filter out much of the garbage that we put in their feed. With that being said, grass-fed grass-finished is always best (it is $5/lb where I live, and many areas that I know of in the US, so don't use the excuse that its not affordable). Besides beef, chicken and pork are plagued by low-quality feed of soy and corn, and their adipocytes (fat cells) then accumulate harmful fatty acids such as linoleic acid, and then we eat them, and also accumulate linoleic acid in our cells and cell membranes, causing cell fragility, inflammation, insulin resistance, etc. Avoid seed oils for this reason!
      Avoid linoleic acid like the plague.
      Fish are also something to be avoided (especially larger fish such as tuna), due to their accumulation of heavy metals in our polluted oceans. Arsenic, lead, and cadmium are prevalent in these fish and should be avoided at all costs, because they are no joke. If you want fish every once in a while, opt for wild-caught salmon (not atlantic/farm raised)

    • @naikjoy
      @naikjoy 11 місяців тому

      @@jasonR2 oxalic acid in vegetables is reduced best through boiling. It reduces the soluble oxalate content by 30 percent to 87 percent. So at least that is fine.
      It seems all that fiber comes in handy. Besides you get to absorb vitamins and minerals. Egg just gives me the essential amino acids.
      Regarding fish yes of course I agree but im a cheapskate. I'm not sure how much more benefit would salmon give me in my part of the world. All I need is some omega-3 DHA & EPA through it.. chiaseed can give me only ALA. I would have to avoid the metals I agree but hmm.. well at least I eat it only every 5 days.. 6 times in total each month.
      Regarding the meat sauce im eating..yeah i think thats from pork sadly. I used to eat liver but I got lazy for cutting it and prepare the 6 meat sauces from liver to freeze - meal prep for whole month.
      I hope my body can cleanse itself from all of the bad stuff. Hell I even stopped using shampoos and toothpaste. All that flouride messing up the micriobiome in the mouth. Gonna just use baking soda and a soap bar.

    Steam, don’t boil the veg to “barely soft”, not “quite soft”.
    Make a vinaigrette with the oil and cider, add the minced garlic and ginger to this emulsification.
    This gives a slightly better flavor profile.

    I truly appreciate this man. He's a millionare or billionaire? not sure.... anyways.. He's quite wealthy and instead of gatekeeping all of these amazing discoveries he likes to share them with the rest of the world and is completely honest and upfront about it. Kudos to you Bryan!!! Also... loved the video with Will Tennyson!!

    What are your thoughts on frozen vegetable? I buy my brokoli and cauliflower frozen. It helps me save money and keep them longer. Thoughts?

      I read that frozen veggies are actually more healthy since they don’t need all the processing that fresh veg does during transport. Unless you grow your own or have a trusted local source.

      @chloebelle4923 11 місяців тому +1

      Make sure it's organic. Also, very often, frozen veggies have more nutrients, since they're frozen before they lose nutrients that could be lost in transportation and storage, etc.

      A while ago I switched wherever I can to the frozen vegetables. Broccoli, cauliflower, peas, carrots, green beans, spinach and zucchini I get as organic vegetables, while brussels sprouts I only get conventional. I absolutely love it because it's like getting real healthy fast food.

    This is LITTERALLY (I sometimes swap the brocoli for dark leafy greens and add onions and tumeric and black pepper instead of cumin) what I eat when I want to feel good or after a big workout where I know Im gonna be very inflamed. And I'm vegan too so it looks like I did my research pretty well! Really ingredients for ingredients the same, the hemp, the garlic ginger combo, the lentils and apple cider lol thats funny

      @@oldbot64 I actually do, a sprouted rice and pea blend with a bit of organic soy milk for complete amino acid profile and it adds up to about 25g of protein for the meal and 25g for the shake which is plenty enough to get to about 100g to 150g per day average as I'm working out to build explosive strength for basket ball

      @@AnimationDunk Would caution against the soy milk. Many years ago, I stopped drinking cow milk for various reasons. I replaced it with soy milk because there were only soy and rice milks available then (this was like 2002 era). Cow milk turned my body into a mucous producing factory. I was surprised when I realized that soy milk was doing similar, while also giving me gas. Some of the proteins in soy are extremely hard to digest, this is why cultures that have used soy for centuries, usually cultured or fermented it first.
      I have no issues with cultured or fermented org. soy stuff, like soy yogurt, tempeh, stinky tofu, miso, tarmari, etc, but soy concentrate, soy beans, and soy milk are definitely problematical. Regular tofu is kind of in between for me. If I eat it on an empty, hungry stomach with not much else and in moderate amounts, it doesn't cause any noticeable symptoms, but if I eat it with a lot of other foods, too much of it, etc, it causes some issues though still not as much as soy concentrate, soy beans, and soy milk.
      Oddly enough, this is similar with also cow milk and wheat. I have no issues with well cultured dairy or wheat (such as yogurt or very long aged cheeses for cow milk, or very well sourdoughed wheat bread).

    Taste is too important for me and most people....I would choose to add dijon to the oil and apple cider vinegar and add more fresh herbs with the cumin to make a type of dressing for the lentils. then steaming the broccoli, cauliflower and mushrooms would be lovely on top...the blended version makes me think of the meals people on a stroke unit have when they can't swallow. Not my cup of tea, but I don't think food aesthetics are his focus. :)

  • @bryant475

    I would add Olives instead of olive oil, and also Turmeric and Flax seeds. Also, no need to boil the cruciferous veggies (Broccoli/Cauliflower), bc myrosinase which converts glucoraphinin to Sulforaphane (the super phytonutrient/antioxidant we want), is heat sensitive. You can add mustard seed powder to activate it, or wait 30-45 minutes after chopping before heating it (still should be steamed, not boiled). Dr. Michael Greger has a few videos on this, also his new book "How not to age" is phenomenal :)
