TEKTRONIX THS720 NEW LED Backlight & External Charger, Schematics, Details

In this Video I revisit 2 Older Improvement Projects I made for the TEKTRONIX THS710,THS720,THS730 Series of Fully Isolated Oscilloscopes, a Backlight LED 1:1 Drop-in replacement Converter and an External Battery Charger with all the Mechanics and 3D Casing.

The replacement inverter for the LED backlight looks great. I know these CCFL inverters from the old laptops, but with laptops i have always seen only 4 pins on the input connector : positive, minus, on/off pin and brightness control pin. Connecting the brightness control pin to the positive, the output (backlight) goes very bright, with a resistor in between you could set the brightness at a certain level fixed. So what is the function of that 5th pin on this Tektronix inverter ? Grtz

Hi Bjorn, Thankyou! the 5th pin is not used on then Mainboard of the Scope, it probably can be used to Sense if the CCFL Tube is drawing Current or not anymore. Cheers, Konstantin
