    Today on PeakYourMind we're diving into how to cure anxiety in just 30 seconds.
    Whether you're getting up to give a speech, or talk to someone you like, or going in for an interview or audition, anxiety can get in the way of living your life the way you want to.
    So I set out to find out how to beat anxiety quickly, and that's what you're going to learn in this video, using the 4x4 technique.
    The 4x4 technique is a strategy used by NAVY Seals and Top athletes to stay cool and calm in high pressure situations. It works by hacking your nervous system and helps you take control of your mind and body when anxiety does show up.
    Regardless of if you're struggling with social anxiety or anxious thoughts related to something else, this will help relax your mind and body.
    Enjoy the video and try this out for yourself!

      Dilan Guzeller These go away once you control your anxiety, I had heart palpitations, chest pain, no sleep, tingling all over the body, etc.. Breath as the video says, stay in the present day ( stop thinking about the future, past, or others, (meditation helps this)) and begin the focus on what you love to do, work hard to occupy your mind with projects/work and you'll begin to forget about the negative stuff.

    I have a weird kind of social anxiety, in lineups. It kinda gives me a feeling of being trapped and I feel like I can't leave. It's especially worse when I'm the next one in line and I'm waiting, then it would be even more awkward to leave so I feel trapped. And this comes with me feeling dizzy and like I'm about to pass out. I'll try this and hope it works!

    • @PeakYourMind
      @PeakYourMind  7 років тому +13

      Raveena Ess breathing will definitely help. That dizziness is just that response and a lack of oxygen to your brain. Another thing that might help is consider what you're focusing on in line. Are you thinking about people rejecting you or failing or looking stupid? That's why using the positive self talk is so important. It hijacks your focus from that worry and into strength.

    I'm not sure if I have anxiety or not. here is what I've been recently feeling:
    1.Horrible,horrible thoughts (sucicde thoughts and death to others)
    2. I can't take it anymore. It's overwhelming.
    3.I always worrying what if this thought really happens? What if I go insane and it happens?
    4.what if I go insane?
    5. Horrible stomach aches. (Not sick)
    6. I feel like I can't breath
    7.i feel alone

    • @PeakYourMind
      @PeakYourMind  6 років тому +17

      Hey, there's this book called you are not your brain. It talks about how to manage our emotions and thoughts. One of the most valuable insights from it, is a method that helps you relabel and and refocus your thinking. How it works is that instead of just accepting any thought that pops into your head as truth or as who you are, you re-label it as an "anxious thought" or a "depressing thought" or a "limiting thought". Then you shift your focus to what you can control instead of what you can't or to something you're grateful for, training your brain for gratitude. Here's another video that might help too: ua-cam.com/users/edit?o=U&video_id=ZWVcSwcbDK0

    I have been living with anxiety for quite some time now, and it’s a burden while trying to live a normal life. I never felt that I would have anxiety or high levels of stress, it came out of nowhere. Until I realized that stuff in my life was piling on and on until it overhwelmed me and my body and my mind couldn’t control it anymore. From hanging out with a woman who claimed she loved me only to be stabbed in the back numerous times, from school and situations at home, it kept piling on. Heart palipitations where it feels like your heart will jump out of your chest, tingling in the fingers, warm and cold hands, sweaty too. At times I feel like I am losing air, my arm starts going numb, I feel like I am having a heart attack, but it’s my mind playing the same old tricks on me. It’s hard to sleep at night with a beating heart, afraid what tomorrow has in store for you, fear of dying because you know it will pain your lived ones for the rest of their lives. I didn’t want to leave my house for a couple years, afraid of being hurt or betrayed. When I did leave, I wanted to puke my guts and the dry throat didn’t make the situation any better. Mental health is the most important, it controls everything. Don’t be mad at your existance, everyone was put here for a reason.

I cant go out to eat with him, or go fishing or hunting with him, and most importantly I can’t even be my true self around him. Because I’m afraid that he won’t like the true me. I had anxiety and frequent panic attacks and a friend of mine that I talked about it said she had the same thing and that she solved it by simply "letting that anxiety come at you"...what does that mean you are wondering. Well when we are anxious we are expecting something bad to happen and then we fight it not to happen but the more we fight the more it actually get worse....so instead of trying to fight it off you could just let it come to you, accept the situacion and then let that anxiety come through you like a dark shadow. Picture a dark shadow of negativity coming at you...instead of trying to fight it just spread your arms (in your mind or you can just do that litteraly) and let that shadow in your mind cross through you...let it go and get behind you and picture it walking far behind you... you will feel released after that and your anxiety will start to drop or it will fade away...after repeating this my situations where I get anxiety have become extremly rare. Try this when you get anxious...just let it pass through you like you are surrendering to it...it will make you realise that your own fighting anxiety is actually making you more and more anxious..sorry for my bad english, hope this helps at least one person..it would be worth it

Thinking and getting really scared about car crashes. Then it was kidnapping. Then break ins. Then robbers. Murderers. Every day the world gets worse. School shootings. Terrorist attacks. Attacks on the street. Anyone can get cancer. Anyone can get a fatal disease. I'm so scared. This doesn't help when I'm alone in the dark.

    Oh yes it’s all so easy. Mate you haven’t lived yet . Wait till you have experienced true anxiety in life through major life events and then see if you will still dispense superficial advice . Breathing can help but anxiety can run much deeper than a few deep breaths will cure .

    I have health anxiety, the second I notice somethings up I get so anxious and it sucks. Its what gives me that 'I'm gonna die' mentality.
    I usually get rid of it by thinking that I'll be fine and its just some dumb thing that'll blow over. And then I watch fun lighthearted videos, it really helps me.
    I hope this technique helps too though.

    This took me months to apply this method I didn’t get help I just thought that it was bullshit that I had extremely high levels of anxiety because of trauma and childhood and school experience but it actually does work. When anxiety kicks in it’s because of your mindset you have to change the way you think just like this video said but it takes time. I was the kid that didn’t talk to anyone and just being in a class environment made me have panic attacks and presenting don’t even get me started. You guys can do it you have to try and make these steps a habit I wish I had this video 3 years ago because I struggled with really bad anxiety my entire middle school and freshman year

    • @calebmagee2813
      @calebmagee2813 5 років тому

      also being yourself and not caring about what others think of you can help but that takes more time then anything because if your being yourself people will love you for who you are but if you’re in school this feels impossible (it did for me anyways)

    I need help training my mind....I try to accept that I have anxiety but my mind just bounces back to what if it's something else. I use to want to hide from this and ignore therapists because I was afraid it would get in the way of a future career I wanted to be in...but what is the point if you are not here tomorrow due to this..if anyone is reading this that has anxiety I have been there. It breaks you down chews you up spits you out and does it over and over again. Once people like us master this and over come it everything else will be down hill. Your mind is your most powerful tool.

    Another tip: As well as putting all of your focus on breathing deeply and slowly, focus on that moment between breathing in and breathing out. Keep your mind focused on the breathing techniques. It's impossible for your mind to be anxious if your mind is occupied, it can't do both!

  • @Ameriate

    Loved the video! Tho I have this weird condition where i do well with a large group of people or even presentations, but when it's a small group of people i get self-conscious and i feel kinda exposed, so i'll give the 4x4 a try! 👌🏻

    • @PeakYourMind
      @PeakYourMind  7 років тому +3

      A B give it a go! Close your eyes and take the time to do the 4x4 technique until you really feel the change in your body and when you do the manta feel it and believe it for you. And remember, this is what I would remind myself is that "I don't have to be perfect" I'll bring my best to this situation and if it's not where I want it to be I'll work on doing better next time

    To be honest there is something I do which helps me a lot with anxiety and it is; first ask yourself: who is my model (the person I look up to the most and want to be like in the future), then tell yourself this: they obviously had anxiety at a certain point in their life but they still got over it, so if they can do it I can. And really believe in what you said. That helps me with my anxiety.

    I can’t really pin point what’s wrong with me, but I think I get big hits of anxiety, I get really nauseous but I know I’m hungry, so when I go to eat, even if the food contacts my mouth I end up feeling like I’m going to vomit but I rarely ever do, I do sometimes like these past 2 days it’s been non-stop but I’ve had this feeling come and go for about 3 years now, sometimes it’s under control but it always seems to hit me again, I’m generally confident socially but if I’m talking to a girl Im really into or sometimes when I’m in a crowded place it can trigger, If anyone knows anything else it could be I’d appreciate it. I’m gonna try these calming techniques tomorrow.

    One time I stayed up the whole night because I was scared of going to school, in school, my friend gave me a cup of coffee to help me, I started shaking a little because I never really have coffee, and after lunch I gave my friend my phone, I don’t know her very well and she is one of the kids at my school who is “trouble” and I was scared she might do something with my phone, like text my strict mom something dumb or get me in trouble, in
    The next 20 minutes I got scared, because, I didn’t know how I was getting home and didn’t know if she would give me my phone back, I started crying and hyperventilating so I got sent out of class, I felt like I couldn’t breath, I came out of the little room they sent me to and went to my seat to take a test. When the test was over I started walking and felt very dizzy and my vision was fuzzy even though I had contacts in, I was dragged to the nurses office and on the way there I almost passed out. If I used this I wonder if I could have stopped that, or was it even because of anxiety?
