I honestly think Porsche nailed it with the spyder. It’s got that Boxter-esque shape and feel, but with subtle hints from the 918. I have no doubt this car is going to fare extremely well in the luxury convertible market.
and I can't believe that some people on internet talk shit about it! all they want are old cars to be made now but they still wouldn't buy them. I absolutely love these cars especially spyder

I wholeheartedly agree. Even at rest the Spyder has pace other don't - including the GT4 coupe.

Most are though. And they are the only car company that still offers a manual throughout the range.
The trans gearing is stupid tall. Aftermarket final drive really wakes these up.

@@RadDadisRad There’s no aftermarket final drive, but you can get shorter 2,3,4 gears. About $12k with a lightweight flywheel and clutch. All 911 have the same 2nd gear ratio, so don’t be a crybaby.

For me Henry and Monkey Harris are the best. Watson is a nice chap, but his reviews focus on what he can fit into exhaust tips and nonsense like that. Very little in his reviews is about actual driving.

Porsche really did a thing slapping that 4.0 in this car...definitely changed the game
Preston Taylor it’s not “that” 4.0 we are familiar with from the GT3. Its actually a bored out Carrera motor without turbos. Honestly it should have even more power, this is the same HP/L of the naturally aspirated E92 M3. I know it may have more torque down low and complies with new emissions regulations that weren’t in place for the BMW, but I expect more from Porsche engineers, and think this car is again limited to not absolutely roast similarly priced 911s.
@@honorablehugh agreed. Probably a very good engine but imagine sticking the 520 HP engine of the 991.2 GT3 RS 😜

mxt mxt I was saying there’s tradeoffs between mid vs rear engined design. And I’d rather the mid engined design with the full support of Porsche to be the best car possible.

Agreed, that pop-de-pop-pop that sounds the same every time you lift, to attempt to inject some excitement into boring turbo engines.
I’ve been waiting patiently for this one & wasn’t disappointed. The quality of the videography is outstanding and along with Henry’s stylish narration, it’s always a welcome addition to my week’s viewing. GT4 vs the Spyder ? As a Cayman owner I’ve surprised myself............ it has to be the Spyder. The chances of getting one this year without getting “reamed” are not likely, but there’s always next year.

I always love watching Henrys videos...I don't know if it's the accent or the passion for the topic, but even with the pitfalls, he always makes the information so palatable and makes you wish you could buy the car!
Perfect review. The entire time he talked about the gear ratios I was thinking to myself that Sharkwerks has a fix for that, and then he mentions them by name! Knowing about more than just the details the manufacturer tells you is really what sets apart a great reviewer from a good one, and Henry/Carfection are definitely great.
Hands down he and his team has the BEST content for car reviews, it’s amazing. They are deifnelty the best! IMO of course.

Agree, Spyder all day long. It’s a bigger step/upgrade from the 981. It’s really 2 cars in 1, now that it has performance and dynamic parity with the GT4. So will be great on track, but you have the beauty of being able to drop the roof. Track work, and then go home pick up the over half and pull up at swanky restaurant like a boss. Could easily be your one car to do it all.
And the weight/structure penalty of the drop top.

Spyder for me please. Why not? No real compromise in comparison to the GT4 (for 99.9% of buyers that are not racing drivers!), but has benefits of open-top motoring. Stunning car. Great review as ever.

Amazing filming as usual! That's a beautiful car too. Looks way better than the Cayman GT4 and out on the open road, I'd say it's more enjoyable too. Yes it has a few flaws but I think Porsche did a brilliant job with this one.
The cinematography is jaw dropping, keep it like that for us UA-cam folks!
Terrific video Henry - I'm currently driving a 718 Boxter T, down in power to the Spyder but there's a purity to the driving experince that can't be matched, the 4 cylinder lump isn't the best sounding but the turn in, more than makes up for it!!

Superb video as always Carfection. I love this car, it is surely almost perfect. It looks so exotic, it sounds great (I get the filtering thing but it still sounds amazing all things considered) and no doubt drives as good as everyone says. Manual, roof off, big engine, NA, we’re in 2021 right?! Totally desirable and ‘only’ £75k with no doubt fairly rock hard residuals to come. Also, I love the roof! Not just the aesthetics but also the operation, a car like this should have some drama!! Absolutely top class, nothing else comes close!

The speedster is about 400k more because actual 911 and heritage.
@@nestam6844 The heritage of the 718 actually goes back to the 718 racing car of 1954. The 911 was launched on 1963, though one could argue the 911 is the spiritual successor to the 356 which was Porsche's first road-going car, launched in 1948.
