IT WORKS!!! Thank u for the advise, i only have one thing to say there is no need to remove that bolt the seat belt that i worked on was so stiff n nasty I filled a bucket with “HOT WATER” dawn And fabric softener and now WORKS LIKE A CHARM with only 1 wash.THANK U AGAIN!!

Thank you for this video. I siliconed the retractors but never thought of soaking the seatbelts. I soaked them in OxiClean dissolved in warm water. OxiClean is a tough degreaser and gentle enough for the wife to soak her sheered curtains. I was amazed to see how much filth came from the seatbelts after approximately 20 minute soak and scrub on each.
Three of the four retractors turned out great. Trip to the local Pick Your Part with the same cleaning method fixed the other.
Thank you for the helpful video. Cheers!

We’re having the same issue with my son’s ‘99 Accord. I even took it to the dealer, thinking they were under lifetime warranty. They are, if “defective”. After spending $66.....
The belts are pretty stiff, so they’re quite dirty. Next warm day we’re cleaning them and I bet they’ll work.
Nice shoutout to Eric O!! His shop is in my hometown of Avoca, N.Y. Great guy with a great family. He’s just a small town guy doing honest, excellent work. 👍🏻

This is a great video. Maybe you can help with a similar question. If I have a seatbelt locked in a fully retracted position, how do I unlock it? We have a 2000 Golf we just bought for my daughter to learn to drive in. It is actually in fantastic shape, BUT the center, rear seatbelt is locked in the fully retracted position. I cannot seem to get it to release. Do you know how to fix that? I am trying really hard to help her take care of it. 🙏🙏 Please, please help if you can. 🙏🙏 Thank you!

Dude being a 95 the tension will need winding up a few turns.
You will find some clips on the youtube about this do yourself a favor take the belt out of the car its easy a blind man could do it.
Once you have it out hold the drum in the upright position as it would be in the car pull the belt all the way out until the spool is MT.
locking the spool in place with a pair of vice grips so the spool don't retract find the end of the belt that's locked into the middle of the spool hook this with small screwdriver or seal pick and pull the end of the belt that's sitting in the drum towards as you feed the belt in from the opposite side.
Once you have pulled out few inches you will see the belt has been double over and stitched in between the stitching you will see a round bit of plastic or steel that stops the belt from pulling back through the drum slide this stopper or pin out of the stitched overlap place the overlap on a bit of wood and softly tap the overlap to flatten the eye out making it easier to pull it back out the otherside of the drumonce the pin has been removed.
before you pull the belt out of the drum mark the side facing you with whiteout so if the belt is pulled out of the guides and slides you know what side was facing you.
Making sure the drum is secured as you only need to pull the belt from the drum and not out of the mechanism leaving the belt in the rest of the guides.
Once the belt has been removed from the drum holding the drum firmly from spinning remove your vice grips and start rotating the drum in the opposite direction to the way it wants to undwing this puts more tension on the spring give it 4 or 5 full turns in the tension direction once you have got more tension on the spring slide the folded end of the belt back through the drum and replace the anchor pin and lock in back in the drum if the belt retracts and fills the spool it's you have plenty of tension .
Pull the belt all the way out until it stops put a clamp on to stop it retracting back again.
fill a bucket with hot soapy water and put all the loose belt in the bucket along with all the slides guides and stoppers that are still attached to the belt leaving the retractable mechanism hanging outside the bucket.
After a soke for an hour give a light scrub on both sides of the belt with a soft nail brush rinse in hot water let dry and replace back in the cars squirting some WD or CRD onto the mechanism.

I am not sure why all these videos show using laundry detergent with water in a bucket and then soaking and washing belts.. I suppose it's the feminine side coming out of the blokes.. Try just using sugar soap in water 50% mix and scrubing the belts.. takes 5 min max per belt and does't soak the belt with a wait time ( forever ) for the belt to dry..

    • @archygrey9093
      @archygrey9093 3 роки тому +1
