    Guys, just to answer many questions reflected below. This will NOT stain your seatbelts and it will NOT affect how the mechanism works. It just allows the belt to retract like it did when your car was new.

    Aha, I would not have thought silicone spray could have been used on material, I held the can back (just in case) giving a liberal dusting of the belts, and they are like new. Thank you for this tip, much appreciated

    Hi! Dear Hilton, How are you doing over there? I would like to have your advice since my Jag does not have a CarPlay and Wife either due to the MY 2017. Do you have any solutions for the issues? Should I choose something from Aliexpress? Now I understand jaguar introduced CarPlay since MY 2019, right. In that sense, should I choose a SatNav of 2015-2017. Anyway, stay safe and drive safely? With best wishes, DT2

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  4 роки тому +1

      Hey there. AliExpress sell a screen replacement for your car. It's full Android and all you have to do is replace the screen. Your OEM satnav and USB will become redundant but that okay with a full Android system since you can load music via SD card and use Google maps to get around. Also, it plays music via Bluetooth.

    not sure about spraying silicone directly maybe spraying on to a cloth first and then apply to the seatbelt, silicon is not something i want on the rest of the interior
    i use simoniz back to black which contains silicon
    it's the only useful thing i have found to use back to black on

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  3 роки тому

      You have a good point. I was being an idiot. When I did my old Jaguar XF back in 2013, I actually held the nozzle right by the trim where the seat belt retracts into. My car stank for a day or so and my door rubber started squeaking. Luckily I had to replace the driver's door rubber any way so now the squeak is gone. Lesson learned!

    As a retired mechanical engineer, I'd be very interested to learn what the seatbelt engineers have to say about this. Seems to me that there is a risk that the integrity of seatbelt protection might be compromised by doing this.

    I don't know about this one Hilton. Does the stopping mechanism that is used when the Seatbelt is violently pulled out (such as in the case of an accident) still work?

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  4 роки тому

      Of course it still works. This only gets rid of that static buildup on the seat belt material.

    Hi Hilton, where did you buy that Silicon spray in South Africa? Will Q20 work be an alternative?

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  3 роки тому

      Oh no! Please don't use Q20. It must be Silicon spray for it's non-stick properties. Q20 will attract dust and make them worse. You can buy it at Builders Warehouse in the motoring section where they sell car polish etc.

    • @carfanfan
      @carfanfan  4 роки тому

      @@alqethme2009 I think you should watch my gearbox oil change service video. This will answer your questions. It's a sealed unit and does not have a dipstick. The oil must be changed every 10 years or 100,000 miles. The sump is plastic and contains the filter. So the sump needs to be replaced when the oil is changed. eBay sell kits for the gearbox service. Your cat will have a 6 speed ZF unit code named 6HP26 or 6HP28 gearbox. They use the same oil, lifeguard 6. Do NIT out anything else than that in your transmission otherwise you will ruin it. It will last another 10 years or 100,000 miles.
